I'm currently hung up on Klein J2159CRTP high leverage hybrid side cutting pliers that I really like and like you , I have several pairs of Klein's including my 1st pair I bought in Oct of 1971 and they still cut like butter ... Thx
I have a vintage set of 6” USA made UTICA linesman pliers that were my main pliers as a low voltage tech because they were lighter weight than 8” Kleins. I have no idea where I found them but from the markings they were made in the 60’s. I’m out of the trades now but I keep them cleaned and use them every chance I get at the workbench and around the house.
Great video. Try to see if you can find Channellock 349 Wiremaster linemans. Old timers i come acrosa that have them swear by them. Not sure why channellock stopped making them.
I picked up my 4th set of 9” Kleins at Home Depot since it was discounted. Might just leave it in the box and break it out some day for a special occasion

8" is the perfect size. Picked up a pair of 8" knipex combination pliers simply for the versatility. Doing apartment maintenance i gotta be light and slim, and 9" is just a little too much overkill
Klein lineman's just feel better in hand, are heavier and seem more substantial. However, Klein seems to be stuck in the past with their handles. Modern electrical tools should be VDE rated/shockproof to 1000volts.
Everybody has an insulated and non-insulated version. I carry both in the vehicle, and definitely don’t want to use the bulky insulated pliers if I’m working on dead wires
Knipex makes a great set as well, but I find their plier handles less comfortable than the American manufacturers like Klein, Channellock and Snap-on. I wish they used the rough grippy finish handles on every pair of their pliers.
I have the Knipex with the ‘comfort grip’ I think is what they call it. A little bit like what you would see with VDE as far as size wise. Everyone is different but it fits my hand perfect and has good grip and cushion
Electrician by trade and shocker I like the Klein linesman Best. Own/tried a pair of snap-on, but they’re a little bulky and heavy compared to the Klein. Also the head on the snap-on’s just aren’t “right” compared to the Klein’s.
