Hi Nico. it depends on the degree of pronation you have and whether you are experiencing foot and leg pain. I have found Superfeet insoles to be the most effective ones for adults. I recommend the green one if you are experiencing strong overpronation and the blue if you just want extra support.

The video was created with examples of families of children with flat feet who were experiencing foot and leg pain due to having flat feet. I chose these examples because we were able to significantly reduce, and in some cases fully eliminate the child's foot and leg pain, simply by fitting the child in the correct pair of shoes.

Shoes that don't provide the correct amount of support and are too flimsy and made from low quality materials can lead to foot and leg pain. Make sure that you are wearing the correct type of shoes in the correct shoe size at all times.

Thank you for your feedback. It is true that it's totally normal for toddlers (ages 1 through 5) to stand and walk with pronated arches and valgus heels as their bones have not ossified yet. I have also noticed that some toddlers might already developed an arch but it's not visible because they still carry some baby fat below their feet (along their longitudinal arch). With that said, when children walk with their feet turned inwards because of having flat feet, this can shift the child's body out of alignment and affect the overall posture, which can put them at risk for future disabilities. When foot posture is not then the child's body will have to recruit more muscles for each movement, which leads to an increase in muscle fatigue, tightness, and strain.The correct type of shoes (as shown in the video), can help improve the child's walking gait, improving the way the child walks and their overall posture. As mentioned in the video, the shoes I recommend are not orthopedic shoes, they are your regular everyday sneakers that simply provide better support than others.
