I have these on my Sawstop and use them regularly, but they do have their limitations as all tools do. I don’t believe they need to be over sold, they work well, but the aren’t perfect or absolute when holding stock such as large sheets of plywood against the fence. When you, or anyone else, say that you can run a full sheet of plywood and it “ensures” it stays against the fence, you’re giving people the idea that these just suck the plywood into the fence and hold it there, it just isn’t like that. I was very disappointed by mine because I believed all the hype people were saying like that to find it wasn’t so. I mean think about it, if the rubber wheels could push down and in hard enough to hold the 4x8 sheet of plywood against the fence, you wouldn’t be able to push through to cut it! I called the very nice people at JessEm to discuss my frustration, we talked about what it can and can’t do and more realistic idea of what to expect from the clear cut stock guides. They sent me a set of new tires which helped a lot being mine must have been old from setting on the shelf too long. I bought another stock guide, so my setup has three, two before the saw blade and one after it. As said before, I use them regularly and like them a lot, I just want anyone who is looking to buy a set to know they aren’t magic and at $200 it may not be for everyone.

I agree with a lot of that. They are a useful addition. To be fair I said they would assist in keeping large pieces against the fence.

Do you see any reason a fence shared by both a table saw and router table in the saw's extension couldn't share the same set of saw guides by simply relocating the rods so they enter the mounts from the opposite side?

I purchased these after watching your channel. I’m stunned more people don’t use them. I immediately noticed a difference in the consistency and accuracy of my cuts. I’d normally use my track saw but on a dresser I’m building I used these instead for a long rip and it was dead on. I also bolted them to my Sawstop PCS fence. I really don’t get the reservation some have, especially considering they can be removed and IMHO should be on the saw most of the time. Thanks for sharing.

i have used them for years, its currently on my third table saw...two unisaws and now on my SS and i love them! i am in a wheelchair and as you said, its like a third hand helping me keep the wood against the fence and tight to the table so that i could concentrate on pushing the material through safely...thanks for sharing, you did a great job of explaining the value of them.

I recently bought these and added to my old 1969 Craftsman 113 table saw with a Delta 36-T30 T3 fence upgrade. I absolutely love them. A couple pointers... The Jessem rail just fits inside the Delta fence top between the sides... just barely. It is a snug fit. Because of that, I tried the trend of using a pair of MagSwitches to mount the rail to a 3/4" wood strip for easy removal from the fence. I had to use their MagSwitch 95 to fit in the wood strip and inside the Delta fence top with enough room to screw down the MagSwitches. It did not work. The MagSwitch 95s do not provide enough hold-down force and the Jessem guides had a tendency to "pop off" too easily... they could leverage off with moderate upwards force on the extended guides, killing the ability to help prevent kickback. It just felt unsafe to me, as the whole guide could come flying off. I wound up just drilling and screwing the rail to the fence top, as per Jessem's instructions. It really is not a big deal to do so and the rail sits nearly completely below the raised side rails with perhaps 1/8" proud of the top. It will not interfere with any jigs I place over the fence (removing the guides of course) and is rock solid. Yes, you do have to remove each guide, but that is not an issue IMHO. Anyway, hope that helps others.

I like the point about using the Gripper for thinner cuts. Jessem says in their literature that the farther the guides are away from the fence, the better the hold down since now you've spanned further across the board. I have an extruded aluminum fence too so install is seconds and I can turn them around to use with my router on the other side of the fence. Nice video.

I’m actually building (half of) one for myself, with : a t-track leftover; a narrow metal plate, an unclaimed miter saw clamp, a ball bearing, a U-shaped metal support of an unremembered function , a spring, some bolts, and some plastic and vinyl tubings. « Half of one» means that I’m first aiming at building one for securing the outfeed, because my saw, being almost 40 years old, doesn’t provide a blade guard. I should be done by tomorrow! Wish you all a lot of projects’ time during the Holidays!

Years ago I worked in a shop that had some very similar, it also had a power feed that allowed me to run 1000’s of board feet very quickly. I found that my rip cuts were better because the pressure to hold them in place was consistent, less chance of burning and the board did not wander so it was straighter.

Thank you for a great video. We rip hundreds of 1.5" strips out of full sheets of melamine every week and after about 5 cuts, we have to flip the piece over to start with a straight edge again. I know you address thin cuts and say you don't use them because they limit your ability to push the material through. You think you could make these work with 1.5" rips?

It is just above the fence but jigs can still be created no problem. You may not be able to use previous made jigs though. I’ll have to double check and see what the height difference is.

Cool but flawed device. Even if the stock is, say, 6 inches wide... this device requires you to either keep your hand much closer to the blade or juggling to keep pushing it through by you stopping the feeding of the lumber, raise your hand up, and reaching over the device to try to continue push it. Unless you're going to use this for long/large cuts I find it mostly worthless. I have an industrial SawStop and this device. The device collects dust in back of a drawer. Guys, save money and be more versatile, buy a Magswitch feather board and a Gripper. Great videos though, love the channel.

I am using these with the very super cool tools fence setup which has a channel at the top of the extruded aluminum fence that these guides just slide into which is great! I have the same saw and upgraded the fence b/c when I would run a dial indicator along the fence at each point where there was a screws (which holds the plywood to the metal fence body ) there was a significant belly/indentations reading from the Dial indicator. I made numerous adjustments and gave up. Anyway , great video, love the channel and
