Taxman The Beatles reaction music video. This was one of the most enjoyable reactions i have done.I could not believe how cheeky and brave The Beatles were in addressing a very important issue.
They called out two prime ministers and highlighted just how brutal taxing can be in Britain.
I thought John Lennon wrote this song because it had all his halmark written on it.But surprise surprise,it was George Harrison.
Just shows how underestimated he was.
Enjoy taxman reaction.

Paul was always a competent guitarist, though in the group he was usually the bassist and later provided some keyboard work. George was Paul's friend and the better guitarist of the two. Paul gave some lessons to John for playing rhythm guitar in the early days, which John picked up readily. He already played harmonica, ukelele, and banjo.

George tried and tried, eventually George Martin asked if Paul could try. One take Paul nailed it, George loved it. George wrote the song but couldn't finish it, then asked John to finish it. Uses the "Hendrix" chord.

George had the misfortune of being a great songwriter in a band with a pair of phenom songwriters! George actually wrote "I Want to Tell You" and "Love you to" from Revolver. His crowning achievements, as far as popularity, came later with "Something" "Here Comes the Sun" "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" and others. I kind of think of the Rubber Soul album as the "Gateway Drug" and the Revolver album as the "Bridge" of what's to come for the latter part of their careers. This is a wonderful album, and you mentioned the beauty of "Michelle", well, for my money, Revolver contains another Paul song that's truly one of his best, and that's "Here , There, and Everywhere" I encourage you to check this song out, and the rest of this fabulous album!

Only after a high threshold did the Beatles play the rate of 95% on all income. Of course this is when they were making massive money so they were well above the high threshold of income to get this rate.

The Jam used it in 'Start'. At the time the Beatles were paying a marginal rate of 96% and much of it was paying off the debts accumulated in 1939-1945.

From what I remember reading, one was just the leader of the opposition at the time. You can listen to a different version on the Anthology, they drop more complicated lyrics in favor of the more simple: "ah ah Mr Wilson, ah ah mister Heath." Being Canadian, the song was of great help when I watch the Crown on Netflix.

That was 1966.The ordinary tax rate was 33%, but higher earners paid a higher rate. The highest rate was 95%! Everyone was tired of Wilson (the Prime Minister then) and Heath (his rival in the Conservative Party). They didn't care about being named, though. And they were being even handed - mentioning both.

Everybody talks about the "Hendrix chord" but George used it in Taxman less than a year before Purple Haze. Also Hendrix's solo had similarities to Paul's in Taxman - both Dorian I believe. The Beatles influenced so many artists

If I recall correctly, after taxes and record company cuts, studio rent, which is why they built their own studio and created their own record label, Apple Corps, (pronounced "core" more humor) they ended up with sixpence for every pound they made. That's criminal.

The Beatles were in the supertax bracket which, in th 60s was astronomically high. If you want another Beatles song that complains about finances, listen to Paul's You Never Give Me Your Money from the Abbey Road album.

At the time George wrote this song, the Beatles had just become millionaires on paper. But they quickly discovered how much they were being taxed by Great Britain. At the time they had so many taxes assessed they were paying 19 shilling 6 pence out of every pound. And there were 20 shillings in a pound at the time! It was insane!!!
