First thanks for calling me the #1 terminator fan lol I don’t think I am but I take pride in being a fan of this car, I’ve loved this car since 06. Two part answer to this great question, 1 blower technology. Blowers back then just weren’t as efficient as they are now, now remember ford said 390 hp that’s a very conservative number, the motor was more like 430 hp from the factory. Second answer is that they didn’t need to make more power at that time, if you look at the competition the camaro SS was only making 320hp, the base corvette was 350hp and the way more expensive Z06 was 405hp at about $20K more than the cobra. The Terminator is called the Terminator because it’s mission was to terminate the discussion between the mustang and Camaro once and for all. The camaro was discontinued right before the cobra came to market. The Terminator over delivered. That’s why.

It was the blower holding it back more than the motor. If they had a 2.3 tvs or a 2650 tvs to put on it back then they could have had 600 hp from the factory pretty easily. The cars had about 430 as it is they were pretty underrated they consistently dyno 360-390 rwhp depending on alot of factors and the type of dyno. They were pretty badass for their time even stock but their rep isn't about what they did stock it is their potential. They had to stuff aftermarket h beam rods into it last minute to avoid canceling it and for this reason it was over built almost by mistake. The book iron fist lead foot goes into alot of detail about this I have never read it but I read all about these things when they were new I had every issue of mm&ff back then and I always loved them. I ended up getting an 07 gt500 for a steal and they're also great cars made very much in the vein of the terminator and the closest Ford to it imo as far as overall package and feel etc. Unfortunately they didn't get the badass rods but they can still take 800 wheel pretty reliably with a blower and are an upgrade in most other areas. These cars are legendary and they always will be. It's awesome being able to get an older more raw and rare car that has potential like alot of modern cars power wise.

Yeah it’s quite rare seeing 4 terminators together. I’m hoping to gather at least 6 terminators this month, it’s been a challenge to say the least lol but I’m trying.
