I enjoy the mow in the summer months just like you around 630pm. I get home from a 10hr shift. I sit back and relax. Eat dinner then so i dont get lazy I get up and mow! No drenching is sweat.
My knees started giving up on me a few years ago so I have a robotic mower. I still like the mow… now I relax on my patio and watch MowBeeOne keep my lawn beautiful!

my favorite time to mow is at 7:01AM, city allows mowing start to start at 7am sharp so i'm out there bright n early ready to rev up my engines first thing 😂
Late afternoon or early evening when temps are down and a cool breeze in the air and the trees are shading the yard. Then, when done, admiring my work and enjoy a freshly cut lawn before going in to enjoying my supper. 👍
I usually mow later in the day if I can since my front yard is shaded until noon or so. I have to wait until it dries out because if I mow any earlier, there’s still a heavy dew on it. TTTF @ 4” in NJ
Mowing late In the day when the grass has no moisture is my favorite time to mow especially because you really don’t get to much grass clippings or build up on your lawnmower. Mower stays clean..
My favourite time to mow the lawn is immediately after getting home from work. It’s never THAT hot in Scotland after 5pm so I usually get home, get changed and mow straight away. That way you have all evening to sit out on the deck and enjoy the stripes!…
I'm not a morning person, but when it comes to the lawn I can make myself get up early. I enjoy mowing & spraying as the sun rises -- it's quiet outside, everyone is sleeping, and it just makes it more enjoyable.
I mow the tall fescue in the evening, usually after dinner around 6:30 PM. I reel mow the bermuda in the back whenever I can. I've mowed it at night and the middle of the day.
Hi Jimmy..I'm not a morning person either!! But I can mow at 10am or 7/8 pm..I'm in Utah also and today is the first day it's "cooler" . I would LOVE a magnet 🥰 and thanks for all your great advice!!
I LIKE mowing earlier than later, before the sun comes up over my southern perimeter trees. BUT... as far as lawn stress goes, I can't imagine that being stressed with a cut, followed by high heat, can be good. When working, I usually mow when I get home and race the darkness.
Agree with many of my friends here, with dew on the grass until about 10am, and using a push mower, mornings are not an option. 5pm, when the shade hits my yard is the preferred time.
I have to mow when I can. Normally weekend mornings, but can be weekend afternoons or weeknights after work. Honestly, my lawn looks better than 90% of the others around me, so I'm fine with getting it mowed when I have time.
I also mow at the end of the day. I have the same climate as you here in Colorado, and can usually count on 50's & 60's every night even if it was 105 that day. Plus being out there keeps all the dog walkers away. 😂
Hey Jimmy, I Usually water in the evening to cool off the grass. So mowing is best in the morning. Up in Canada with cool season grass. Makes me think I am on a golf course helping the course superintendent! lol

I would love to wait till later evening to mow, but I usually get it done around 3/4pm during the week. I’ll wait much longer between mows during the high temps. Weekends I’ll do an early morning mow job.
Definitely a morning mower on the weekend cuts and the week day cuts are a nice evening cut love the way the stripes pop in the later pats of the day 👍🏽
I like to move before the sun goes down. Here in Texas if you try to mow in the morning you are basically racing the sun and guess what...the sun always wins. Not to mention the humidity.
In Central Valley California mow after 720pm where no sun on grass they water it for 5 minutes fertilize the lawn every 6 weeks using nursery product “ don’t use any big store brands” the lawn stay green alll year long. Enjoy your 4th folks
On the weekends, I like to get it done early before the heat of the day, but on weeknights, I’m definitely with you on the evening mow. I have an Ego which is pretty quiet and has a headlight, so I’ve definitely finished up a few mows in the dark!
Favorite time is late evening. I'm cutting two times a week based on my work schedule. I'm able to mow early morning on Tuesday, and late evening on Friday.
My Bermuda does better when mowing later in the evening. Once it gets some shade 7:45 or later. I was mowing in the morning before last year but as the day wore on you can see a white haze from what I'm assuming is stress reaction.
For me it depends on what day my mowing falls on. If it’s the weekend, I prefer right after the dew drys, but during the weekdays, anytime after 6:30-7:00 in the evening or when it cools down enough.
Well. Before covid 19 we were planning to get married and I did a lot of things for my Dad and friends. Last weekend we had the our 4th planned wedding with 10 people at our house because Canada is still in lockdown; my Dad is no longer with us, my Moms best friend is no longer with us, our family dog was put to rest last year and here we are moving forward. We *had * to move forward because the stress was built up to maximum. Stress is good, you need stress before you can start to adapt and become stronger. It is better to limit stress but sometimes you need to just adapt to the lemons that life hands you. Without the stress and struggle if life, you don’t grow. May we all struggle so that we can grow, may we be blessed with stress so that we can become stronger. lAwnMEN.
I prefer early morning, however with reel mowing I have to get it in when I can which means sometimes/most times I have to get a mow in the evening as I go to work in the early mornings with the exception of weekends.
I mow less frequently when it gets hot and starts to check out. Less stress on the lawn. I prefer evening since I'm not a morning person. Honestly though, when it's hot and humid, that 10 degrees cooler doesn't matter much.
Like you, I prefer to mow in the Late Evening (around 8pm). When should I apply Liquid Fertilizer to my lawn? Morning Application would burn, but Evening Application doesn't sound right...

During the summer it epends on weekday or weekend. When cut day falls on a weekday I'm cutting 6-7pm ish. When it falls on a weekend it's early morning.

I usually mow around noonish after the morning dew dries, but that sounds like I need to change. Wouldn't the morning dew remaining on the grass as long as possible be a positive thing for the grass? Think I will give early evening cutting a try.
You'll read/hear people say stuff about mowing at certain times of day and grass stress, but I haven't seen any hard research. Did you find any good papers while researching this video that you could share?
