Great talk here! I've been purposely running in the heat since May here in NC and I've had to adjust my pacing expectations. But with heat adaptation in full effect, I'm now racing quite quickly despite the heat! Thanks for this talk! Keep pushing!
Great informative talk coach Rachel! I have really good luck stashing 1 bottle of Skratch labs hydration and 1 bottle of ice water on my long run routes. It's been a huge help to keep me hydrated in the heat on long runs. Thanks for sharing!❤️
for 2 weeks in June there were some heatwaves that made it unsafe to do strenuous activities outside. It was so humid that my sweat wasn't evaporating so I couldn't cool off. I was also experiencing heat exhaustion.
I'm running in Houston and although this year's heatwave has been brutal, it's been a drier heat than most years, which has made running easier if you have a high sweat rate. It's the days with the high humidity, even with lower temps, that really zap your energy. It's crazy and you have to be careful out there. But, I'm hoping this heat training translates to some good race times come fall and winter.
It's hot and humid almost all year round in Singapore. It's rough when the sun is high. You get used to it but it is a grind. Luckily I'm the type that sweats a lot.
