You are doing the lord's work by informing consumers so that they aren't paying a premium for poor to mediocre quality products. I also love your way of communicating "Cat among the pigeons" tickled me.
That Colombo bag is GORGEOUS. I'm sad to hear that the American brand is so overpriced, but I'm glad to know to avoid this money waste. I also love that Lectoure. It's beautiful.
In gratitude for your valuable content and for introducing me to Joseph Duclos. I loved my visit to the Paris boutique and chose the Heritage Diane in Ardoise.
Hi Anesu: First of all, i love you much. You speak the truth about luxury being a scam these days. Most brands like Gucci, Row do not tell us what leather they use under the bag descriptions. Secondly, a big Ramesh Nair fan here and i was so excited to hear you say that you put him on the pedestal like a semi-goddess. Thirdly, i use a suede tote by JD and your review is 1000000% true. Nothing I have to add because you said it all. I love it and im eyeing a leather one. Lastly, i wish you all the happiness and success in the world. I just discovered your channel and thank you for reviewing Valextra + Old Moynat + JD bags accurately. No fuss no hype just you. Keeping it coming and once again loving every video you've put out. XO
Hello Thank you for your thoughts! The Row doesn’t use amazing quality leather or else they would rave about it, guaranteed! It’s sourced from an Italian tannery focused on producing average to good leathers maximum. Ramesh is a demi leather God we need to celebrate leather goods creative directors. A bag is such a major accessory we need to do better. Thank you and I wish you happiness and way more success thank you ever imagined.
OMG 😳 , the tote by Joseph Duclos is SUCH a stunning masterpiece ! I think it could be a great unisex option , thanks for bringing it to my attention !! I suspect that it's even more gorgeous in the flesh ! Hope you're having a wonderful time 🙏 It's just grey damp and depressing here , but as always your content has brightened up my day ! ❤️❤️
Thank you for your wonderful videos! Your content is giving me exactly the information I am interested in. The Lectoure is beautiful and that Colombo tote would be a treasure. Would love it if more luxury brands include closures for customers concerned about their items falling out. Enjoy Chile!
@@SoAnesu Me too - need at least some form of closure (even if small) so that the bag isn't constantly flopping off the shoulder, especially larger ones
I have been curiously watching some videos regarding the Margaux bag as the bags reminds me of my beloved Sesia from Loro Piana in shape, simple curve, no obvious logo...but I cannot believe the poor details of the Margaux! I sure hope consumers considering these hyped bags come across your detailed images. The images you took of the edge coating just speak for themselves. Thanks again for being so discerning and sharing your knowledge with us.
I saw a Sesia in person recently and thought it was stunning! Having seen Margaux as well, the LP bag blows it out of the water, honestly. I am a fan of The Row designs, but now I know the quality is not there.
I was devastated to find out Loro Piana have discontinued the Sesia! I went to three different stores for confirmation as if 1 wasn't enough. When I looked at the Margaux I was incredibly disappointed. I'm not sure who more with, the brand or consumers for settling.
I know, they are coming out with other bag lines but the Sesia line is still one of my favorite. Out of curiosity, after learning what you are observing on the bags you showed, I just checked the edge coating of my Sesias and they are really impeccable. On another note, I am not a fan of the LP Extra Pocket. Being a long time customer of LP, I always looked at this little container for what it is: a glorious beauty bag. To be fair, I do not think LP was even pretending this should be considered as a bag. I guess the Gods of Marketing decided otherwise last year. I do not understand how so many young and not so young people are blowing their budgets on this bag. Also, if 6 months ago they were all going crazy for the LP Extra Pocket, now they all seem to have switched to the Margaux. @@SoAnesu
This video was fantastic, thank you. I really like how honest you are and don’t play into the hype. We go back to Paris at the end of the year so I’m going to get a Joseph Duclos bag, just not sure which one. Alex is such a great SA there and so fun to work with. I told him I saw him in your video.
Thank you. Someone has to do it. Decisions, decisions but you have plenty of time to make the right and best one for you. Alex is a scream - he likes being my model and he does it with such panache!
Anesu is out here in the world saving us thousands of dollars by exposing these overpriced items and brands! Thank you for your honesty and hard work! Your recommendations are impeccable!
I just love the honesty and bravery of Anesu’s video!! Thank you so much for dissecting into the flaws of the hype up totes and your recommendations of better alternatives 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 I really have learn so much new brands from these few videos that I have started to watch over these couples of days
Thank you so much for yet another great video Anesu. You do such a service to those of us who want the best in quality and value for our money. I look forward to your reviews of more independant brands and craftspeople 😊 I wonder that you did not include comparison of Serapian Milano totes to Bottega Veneta? But all in all, the best video i have seen on totes.....thanks again 💕

@SoAnesu.....once again thank you. Also I really appreciate your detailed honesty, especially regarding the quality (or lack of!) of the Marguax bag from The Row. I see/hear so many glowing and gushing reviews of the supposed "unmatched, exquisite, fabulous quality" of this brand, and therefore the justification for the insane price-spikes ($9500 in one case for a second-hand Margaux 😬). Yours has been the only review that has gone into every detail of it, right down to the application of the edge coating, and the hardware, details that I would have overlooked. I actually do like a fabric lined bag because that cuts the weight if it, but you are absolutely correct.......the price should reflect that. You are the "Detail Quueen" and I continue to learn from you in every video 🥰
Another informative and educational video, thank you! I would add Asprey to the list of high quality totes. They are just beautiful. I would add Nancy Gonzalez to the poor quality totes. The handles on the bags come off easily and you aren’t able to even carry daily essentials as they cannot handle any weight.
Well-rounded on designer tote bags information. Thank you so very much. Have you done a video on cream-color designer sneakers/shoes? I would love to see it.

A friend of mine bought a beautiful tote from the brand Smytheson . When it was new it was stunning , but now the typeface has faded and there is significant wear on the handles . I love Smytheson as a brand , but at that price point would you expect better wear after just a couple of years of general use AND careful care ??
You certainly would! Smythson is a stationery brand first and foremost that's what can happen with brands that expand their range of products. Who you partner with is very important.
Many thanks for guiding me to Joseph Duclos. I made a recent purchase when in Paris (Diane). Regarding under the radar totes, may I have your opinion of Alaia and the MINA 32 bag in Black Vienne Calfskin? I'm drawn to the "everyday" light look of this Alaia bag, but wonder if I should choose the Joseph Duclos tote.
Good to hear. It depends on what you are after a pretty tote then definitely Alaïa high quality Duclos you will get a lot more mileage / longevity / durability(a tote for life) and a far superior product all around.
@@SoAnesu RU-vid instructs that the "Super Thanks" button, if activated, can be found under the video. I don't see it; perhaps I'm missing it. Have you activated this feature?
it’s active. If you look under the channel name, which is directly under the title of the video, you will see a ‘like’ and ‘dislike’ button to the right of those on the same line you have the option to ‘share’, ‘remix’ and then ‘thanks’. Click on thanks and you can choose a set amount or click on ‘more’ and choose the preferred amount.
The work you do and your knowledge is admirable. Thank you for informing us on each brands quality without being sold into the hype the marketing is giving theses brands. I would love your opinion on Metier's designs, I'm thinking of investinh in one of they're designs but i haven't seen them in person so I can't know if they are worth it. Thank you for your video ❤
Josef duclos tote is beautiful i also love the colombo one. But its out of my price point im looking at the Marlene Birger Abillia tote in choclate brown leather or maby the black one for myself. I really liked the video :)
I’m curious about the weight for Joseph duclos tote. Cos totes are meant for carrying more items. It seems like with good leather, it might be heavier?
Hi! I just found your channel, and I adore your content. I’ve always been interested in finding quality items of all sorts, irrespective of hype or brand name. A specific question: I have a Moreau Vincennes MM tote, and it’s incredible. I actually much prefer the “sellier” construction of the Bregancon tote, but I cannot see one in person before purchase, and I’m wondering whether the shorter handle fits comfortably over the shoulder. Did you try it on the shoulder, and does it fit? Thanks so much.
Good to hear and thank you for watching my content. Message directly from the brand: “The handle drop is basically the same: 22cm for Vincennes and 20.5 for Bregançon. The bags is slightly more adherent to the shoulder but being less bulky makes it very comfy on the shoulder.”
@@SoAnesu My goodness; thank you for going above and beyond to contact the boutique! I very much appreciate your effort, as I’ve never gotten a satisfactory response from the single US boutique in Houston. (The bags are no longer sold in New York.). You have my dream job; when I graduated from law school without a penny in 1995, I went from store to store all over NY, looking for quality and wanting to examine and touch everything. There was no internet, and, at least for a woman of modest means, no other way to gain exposure. I learned about Jil Sander (quite unknown at the time). I learned about Akris. (I’d love to see a video on Akris and other brands that focus on women’s suiting.). I learned that men’s clothes and shoes were vastly superior in terms of stitching, fabric, linings, buttons, fit, everything. Fast forward 30 years…I am thrilled to have found you, and to know that someone had a similar dream. I look forward to the next video.
You are welcome. It makes me a little sad communication with Moreau is typically hit or miss not too sure where things are going wrong. I like Akris it’s a wonderful brand. It’s on my list trying to find other brands that would work for what I have in mind.
Yes men’s clothes and shoes are considerably better made than women’s. We have significantly higher turnover and therefore less motivation to focus on exceptional craft as anything that’s made will sell.
As i was looking at Bonastre’s website, i couldn’t help but notice some of their cotton lined bags...since you met the owner in person, is there a reason as to why he opted for the cotton lining in some of their bags. I wish they had those designs in leather lining option too even if it came at a higher price point.
Anesu are you familiar with “Cuoiofficine Firenze” and “Chestermox?” What’s your opinion on their totes? Chestermox leaves a similar taste in my mouth as Joseph duclos.
may i introduce a tote? it’s the ‘diorissimo’ from christian dior. it’s simple, elegant, robust, but discontinued. now it can only be found on the second hand market, i got one a few months ago. the only downside is a bit heavy:) only a handful of videos on youtube, so i made a video on the bag myself but in chinese.
