Some people think the money shot of these videos is the food, but it's actually that moment of over-the-glasses eye contact Sam gives you when he takes his first bite.
I appreciate that you didn’t pretend that turkey burgers are the tastiest things to eat and kept it real. Awesome job making a turkey burger look delicious!
I got some ground Turkey something I never eat & don't know what to do with. This video had some good tips & some weird ones. I mixed in a lot of the ingredients, steak sauce, soy sauce, mustard, minced garlic & instead of the butter (since I don't have a gull bladder) I mixed in an egg. It came out really good especially with the sauteed veggies on top!
Sam, You defeated the reason turkey burgers are a thing. 😆 "We need to eat healthy!" "Let's get ground turkey." "Only if we can shave a quarter pound of butter in it!" 🤔 Its so easy to troll you. 💘
Rally no need to use that much butter, just a little will do the same thing. I actually use a tablespoon of olive oil and that works great. You just need to add back a little fat to make them juicy.
Sam is the perfect cooking teacher in the world he makes everything so simple and he's chill and patient and funny. I would love to be in a culinary class getting a degree with him as my professor lol
I've learned two very important things while cooking these recipes: 1: Sam makes me look good on the grill... 2: The value of a solid kitchen knife... Damnit Sam... I see what you're doing here... I bought the knife... Can't wait!!!
Thanks Sam for teaching my retired husband how to cook delicious food for me to eat when I get home from work. Appreciate you being there. My husband received one of your shirts for his birthday “If fat means flavor...” making people laugh all over town as he proudly wears it.
Just made these burgers the other day . Step by step but instead of thick soy sauce I used country bobs sauce . And these burgers came out wonderful . Turkey Burger came out better then any store bought or restaurant made I have ever tasted .
Lipton beefy onion soup mix will also keep your turkey burgers from being dry and will add flavor, especially when adding additional seasonings of your choice.
I think that would be cruel and inhumane, and prolly against the Geneva Convention ....... unless I'm on the receiving end of one of those turkey burgers of course. Then no harm - no foul!
I like this guy and I like his recipe. He seems like a natural home cook that learned everything on his own rather than working in a restaurant. It's refreshing
As always, great job! Love watching you cook. I’m definitely trying this. I’ll report later... YO! I just made/ate this burger tonight... It was F**KING phenomenal!!! I couldn’t find the thick soy sauce but it was still so amazing. For those who haven’t tried it, you are really missing out Sam you da man!
Whenever I make Turkey cutlets, patties, or anything with ground Turkey, I found that a bit of fresh ground nutmeg really elevates it to another level!
"Turkey burgers can taste great" (adds a stick of butter to ground Turkey) Me: I'll stick with 80/20 and add bacon tomato & guacamole to my Turkey sandwiches.
What i do when i roast garlic and onions is olive oil the roasting tray, cut the garlics straight down the middle and same with the onions then face the open cut side face down. Leave all the skins on and if you don't use foil you get more of a caramelizeation. It's a brilliant way to make gravy for a roast dinner.
As a person who developed an allergy to red/mammal meat, I appreciate what he did here. Turkey burgers are crap until you add some fat. I usually add oil, an egg, and some bread crumbs to tie it all together. Havent tried the butter before. Thanks for the tip Sam. Honestly could have watched this just for the roasted garlic mayo. Looks fantastic. Keep up the good work yall.
Pro tip from a Philly guy.. Next time you make a Philly cheesesteak kiss the peppers and onions with soy sauce... They all do it but nobody talks about it lol.
Red meat is a proven carcinogen, no such consensus on poultry. So yeah in one way it’s not a healthier alternative in terms of fat, but it’s still a healthier alternative to red meat. Gotta weigh the risks, clogged arteries/obesity from saturated fats or stomach/intestinal cancer from red meat.
Dicing up onions and mixing them into the ground turkey has always worked out pretty well for me. I add salt, pepper, and parsley as well. It's always been really popular with people and it's still fairly healthy, or at least healthier than ground beef.
One other method for those who like turkey burgers for health reasons: you can add moisture with egg whites and a splash of Worcestershire sauce (and seasonings of choice). I know that's not healthy either but I'm guessing better than a stick of butter lol
I love turkey burgers!! When you are watching what you eat and you wanna substitute beef, turkey is the way to go. I was a sceptic at first but omg, they're really good.
I’ve never added butter to my turkey burgers and they still come out juicy. You just can’t over cook the meat. That’s what it boils down to. I add diced jalapeños and onions in the meat mixture, that is what may provide some extra moisture during cooking. Turkey cooks very fast.
I had my doubts because I haven’t had a Turkey Burger I ever liked. I bought 4 one pound packages of Butter Ball ground Turkey at Costco thinking I would use it for Tacos. I got pressed into using some of the Burger in the last minute. I followed your lead and used the 1 quarter pound butter to 1 pound of Turkey Burger I adjusted the ingredients using season salt, garlic, onion powder pepper. Put them on the grill till about 160 degrees. They turned out great. I definitely will do again. The Butter made the difference.
@@namehere4954 take it easy boy, he is making that burger for himself and in his house, not in his restaurant, of course in his business he would not blow the fire with his mouth
I made these and I found it's a lot easier to prepare them ahead of time and then freeze them, then cook them frozen. Most ground turkey I find is very wet and doesn't hold together very well. Extremely delicious though.
When do we get the outdoor kitchen tour!? I have to be honest, the sound of that cutting board you have outside sounds like nails on a chalkboard. What is it made out of?
OK I don't eat TURKEY. ANY animal that will stare into the rain until it drowns is not worth eating ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-azEOeTX1LqM.html
I made this, and it was super good. I’m not really a mayo on a burger person, but the roasted garlic mayo was great. I used havarti. Also a week earlier I made a slow cooker pulled pork, that I smoked for 30 minutes after it fell apart in the crock pot. I took all of the left over fat and liquid and put it in a container. I mixed some of it into the onions and jalapeños once caramelized, and it was next level. I also used a little less butter, and added in some of the pulled pork fat. I think everyone told me how amazing the food was about 6 times each. Great recipe
I nominate my dad who IS YOUR BIGGEST FAN! Walking around with his “AND WE MIX sweatshirt, holding your 7” Nikiri knife, heading out to his make-shift side kitchen out in garage. He deserves this so much and would be the happiest man in the world. He has been an essential worker at a food store this entire quarantine and has not stopped talking about this EVO Chance.. ❤️🙏
The evolution of cooking turkey burgers: - Hamburgers (made from beef, not ham) are delicious. People are happy. - After eating too many hamburgers, people become more self-conscious and health conscious. People are sad. - I have the answer! Let's make turkey burgers! All the flavor, but without the guilt. People are happy. - People realize that turkey burgers, while healthier, don't taste as good as the original higher fat hamburger. People are sad. - Sam the cooking guy jumps in with the answer. "Let's make turkey burgers taste good again by adding half a stick of butter per burger! Problem solved!" People are happy.
I've had Norton for 16 years in a row. 20 years if you count my working career with Norton. Remember kids, its not just Oil..or Olive oil..Its Avocado Oil. Right, Max?
I love Sam having discovered him at the start of the year and I've made it my ritual to watch a video almost daily (amusingly while I eat lunch). I've liked/subscribed/followed..so I'm a fan! This video really triggered me though. 1. The amount of butter used was just completely stupid to the point where it's a butter burger with turkey added as a binder/filler. Then adding oil on top...uggh. 2. Blowing repeatedly on the burger. In a COVID era I found that disgusting and really amateur hour. 3. The oddball sponsors that have nothing to do with cooking continues. From earphones to now computer security? Is My Pillow next? I really couldn't take this entry seriously and it just felt like it was an attempt at trolling.
@@mrdisco1 I feel like all of Sam's recent vids have mostly been gluttonous, shock value foods, or hes ripping off fast food joints. And its getting real old. Now product ads in the middle of the video? I am no longer a fan of this dude.
Agreed! Horrendous product that is a complete pain the ass to get off your computer as it injects itself everywhere. It's a nagging system hog that should be banned.
@Phil Weaver So what you are saying is: "Install this cancer of a software because it keeps Phil paid fixing all the fucked up system problems." The software is a mistake - Google "user" reviews. Norton is a meme at this point.
Alternatively, instead of butter, I grate red onion and zucchini and add it to my turkey burger. I also go 1/4 pound and do it on a flat top to get a nice scald. Will definitely be making that aioli though.
Saw your video at 5:00 pm today. Made these starting at about 8:00 p.m. and dug in around 8:45. Holy crap. These were amazing. Used regular soy sauce instead of the thick kind, and used a red bell pepper along with the jalapenos. Adding this to my stable of recipe faves. Thanks!
Seeing Sam talking about the Norton 360 is hilarious 😆. Don't take my job man, IT's the only stuff I do sort of well, it's sad that I have to live knowing I can't compete with your cooking skills. 😄. Jokes apart, you did an amazing job explaining the Norton stuff.
Going to my dad's house always means talking about Sam the cooking guy. Tonight for fathers Day dinner his fiance and me surprised him with the Sam the cooking guy knife. At this point I forgot I watched this episode and didn't enter him for the competition! This Evo grill would make his life. He's done so much for me and loves all your cooking. One day I'm sure we're going to fly him down to eat at your restaurant and hopefully meet you as a gift. Love all your episodes, enthusiasm, teachings and of course food. Happy Father's Day to you too! I hope your kids cooked you something amazing as well! Brought my dad some fancy steak which is what sparked the Sam conversation haha.
