We have used electric cars from VW, Tesla, Kia, Hyundai and more. Are these models some of the best used EV bargains around today? I think so.

Sorry if this has already been asked. Where can you find real battery longevity data for these cars? Nowadays with so much price data available as with your Ebay video, is the same adage true that if it seems too good to be true then there will be a reason why that is the case
@DefinitelyNotAGuru
@DefinitelyNotAGuru Год назад
You can check the battery health - a quick Google will help as it will differ from car to car. Remember that batteries almost always have an 8 year warranty so should pose a problem on many of these.

I think used EVs have come down that much in value they are excellent value for money. If you are not doing loads of miles an EV really does make sense now values are at a sensible level.

@HairyCheese

Although driving 200 miles per day with an EV (not a Leaf or older Zoe) charging from home gives you an annual range of 73,000 miles without ever charging in the wild.
@Brian-om2hh
@Brian-om2hh Год назад
@@HairyCheese Although it could be relevant to point out that charging in the "wild" need not cost an arm or a leg if you subscribe to the charge network you wish to use. As an example, the Ionity Passport subscription gets you around 30p per kwh reduction on the non-subscriber price, when using their rapid or ultra rapid chargers. Quite a few charge networks operate subscription schemes, and these normally cost from a few quid a month up to around the £15 mark. My local charge network charges around 45p per kwh if you subscribe.
@HairyCheese
@HairyCheese Год назад
@@Brian-om2hh it's true. But at home I'm getting 7.5p per kWh. So about £6+ filling up for 250 miles. Cheaper in the more efficient Tesla.

The first thing many will wonder about is the condition of the battery. Well that need not be the huge issue many deem it to be. Any decent dealer selling used EV's, should be able to provide a battery health check using an OBD device. This can give a readout/printout of the battery's health in percentage terms.....
@DefinitelyNotAGuru
@DefinitelyNotAGuru Год назад
Yes, it’s not difficult to check and most of these will still have battery warranty
@leeandjancruise

If depreciation is so bad on EVs why are people still buying or leasing them new?
@Brian-om2hh
@Brian-om2hh Год назад
Because if you are able to utilise home charging most of the time on an off-peak tariff, then your running costs are around a 7th of the cost of using petrol. Servicing is usually much cheaper too. You'd need to spend a little bit of time weighing up the pros and cons, as to whether the numbers work for you. But if I said I've saved around £6k over the last 3 years by no longer buying petrol, you can maybe see where it begins to make sense. Once ULEZ zones kick in big style - and they will - then we'll see EV's really come into their own. EV depreciation isn't as bad as some of the hysterical anti-EV crowd would have you believe.
@DefinitelyNotAGuru
@DefinitelyNotAGuru Год назад
No idea why you’d buy a new one but the reason why you’d lease seems obvious

@SDK2006b
@SDK2006b Год назад
Most EV’s are on company car/salary sacrifice schemes, where due to the low benefit in kind tax (2%), it’s cheaper to get an EV than run a petrol/diesel car. I have BMW iX and my partner has a Polestar 2. Both are about the same monthly cost as our previous ICE cars despite costing nearly double the price.
@MookMineola
@MookMineola Год назад
With EV s depreciating so much it doesn't say much for the Scottish police decision to invest £25.000.000 million quids in EV vehicles to carry out police patrols and pursuits. Apparently, the Scots police now say EV's are unsuitable for their purpose. I suppose if you're out on patrol and you then have to spend 90 mins charging your battery it is kind of a waste of police time. Not to mention a pursuit of a wanted felon, ( not to say the police do any of that these days ) . Lucky the Scottish tax payer has deep pockets as apparently all those EV's need replacing with ICE vehicles. Other people's money of course is always spent very easily. I wonder why the buyers in the Scots PD never thought about the needs of patrolling officers rather than EV ( green ) credentials. Maybe they have gotten that mental illness climate change ?
