@@marsmagnus8524 Condensed story: When the Campfire Solaris was a super hyped IEM release, Crinacle's initial review of unit 1 was "meh, not bad, not great either" which was the minority take from all other outlets at the time, little while later he gets his hands on unit 2, which actually records a frequency response that was significantly different, but sounded better than unit 1. Then comes unit 3, which is different from the two before. Turned into a whole QC thing because no one really wants to pay in the kilobuck range for what's basically an IEM gacha game. Basically became a huge shit-show on the forums and Campfire never really addressed the issue because they sidestepped FR and started talking about channel imbalance. Also pretty sure their CEO coined the term "measurebator" for people who use objective measurements, which should tell you all you need to know about the crin-campfire relationship.
I'm from China and the dioko was on preorder about ten days ago and I am literally watching this video with the dioko. I never bought the timeless but the dioko sounds great I must say.Was really surprised when I saw crin on the packaging and the collab thing (it was not metioned in the marketing material)
@@reelne The sound stage is great. Even if there is channel imbalance, they sound fine to me and I can't really hear the difference when listening to music. Might be a measurement inaccuracy or qc issue.
Yeah, checked on TaoBao and saw them already available. What other ear-gear do you/have you listened to? It will give people a better idea if they know what you're comparing these to. Also, what kind of music have you listened to and enjoyed with these?
@@rayxia4466 Wonder if less channel imbalance and more of an inconsistent performance from the driver. Whether it's from being planar magnetic or 14.6mm diameter or both I don't know.
Allow me to add my experience to the shilling. I'm from China and I got the DIOKO three days ago. Took them to work and the ladies loved the color. So if you get them, you may attract some girls......so you can scare them away with your audiophile lingo. *oh you know you're going to do that*
I actually bought these before I watched any of your videos, based on 3 things: 1. They looked the nicest 2. The graphs looked nice, reviews looked good 3. They were on sale. *I love these fuckin things.* I love that mid-range boost, there's so much detail in vocals and melodies. Watching this, I see was your goal! I highly recommend the album Alice Schach and the Reminiscent Bibliotheca to anybody with Diokos; it's the album I use to test headphones because in the musical scenes I listen to it's one of the best-engineered and covers a wide range of styles. I recall being absolutely blown away with the breath in the vocalist's teeth, the skin of the instrumentalist's hand-drum, all intimately rendered. These are my first "nice" IEMs, and I've managed to land on a pair that I'll be coming back to for years. They're fantastic. Great work Crin!!
seriously, this kid is crazy, if i had the money, i would buy it just out of curiosity and i was already planning to change the iem. ("needing" to change IEM)
Just preordered :) ive been in the market for new IEMs and looked into planar so this dropped at the perfect time. We even got our holiday pay in norway so this is a nice little treat to myself
Managed to try the demo unit at Mecha myself, Timeless users aren't missing out on much. From what I could tell, Dioko cuts down on an already tight soundstage and doesn't resolve detail as well. It's fantastic for its price point and beats out more orthodox Chi-Fi, but won't overthrow the Timeless IMO
@@bubukyove6281 Haven't tried the Aria firsthand so I'm not too certain, but both seem like safe bets in the technicals. So the choice between either should come down to preference of sound profile. Aria might be on the neutral side, whereas Dioko and Timeless share a boosted-neutral signature.
ayyy crin, just got my dioko, and i'm pleased to say that you and 7hz did a great job tuning these! i don't normally love iems, but these are incrediby comfortable and sound really enjoyable for a neutral-bright set. thx!
The main factor here is going to be the fit issues, the comfort, the quality control and the customer service (of where you buy it from). The 7hz Timeless did poorly on these factors despite being $220 USD. There are some people that are on their third Timeless IEM because they kept having quality control issues. Keep in mind that it has only been less than a year since it was released. It is only reasonable to be cautious of a planar IEM that is $100 USD. I would hope that it sounds well and judging from the graph, it looks nice. I would have to try it out for myself though.
@@TheMechaStore Linsoul already burnt me once, so never again. I would consider buying it from Mecha, but I do not live in Singapore. I have bought from almost every major site that sells audio gear, and Linsoul is the only one to ever give me problems.
Just got these a month ago for cutting the grass. It sounds really good for this price......I tamed the highs a bit and added more bass with an EQ app and I'm impressed. It gives my Timeless AE a run for their money at 50% less cost. I splurged for the Tripowin Noire cable and wasn't a fan. The swappable plug was creating issues. I ordered the Tripowin Altea to replace it, and the Tripowin Danube for my Timeless AE (NOT for yard work).
I like Crinacle's preference for sound focusing on IEF with a low bass boost that doesn't blow out everything else. The reported graph there for these is basically the line I have my Aria's and 560S tuned EQ'd to. I'll throw 100 bucks in to try them out with the case and stuff that's included. I collect Moondrop waifus, so I bought the cheap Chu's even when I didn't need them having Arias and Starfields (questionable purchase after getting the Arias...they look pretty I guess?). Timeless missed their market by not making it an IEM waifu shootout.
One guy called 'Zeph Ng' had commented here about his experience of demoing the Dioko at Mecha store. He talks of a smooth sound signature with no sibilance whatsoever.
I know you already said a thousand times to not blindly agree with you, but in this case I'll just trust you. Order is placed, I live in Europe, so in roughly a month I can tell you if I like it or not. Edit: well, more than a month now. It's ok. I can wait. Edit 2: They're here and sound beautiful.
Planars have the potential to be the best, like no one ever was, but tuning, power requirements, and limitations of the driver packaging tend to make it merely different than a good dynamic driver instead of obviously superior. For instance, planar drivers tend to operate best in an open-back implementation, due in part to their comparatively weak mechanical spring force. If you seal a decently large planar into an enclosure that doesn't have a large enough amount of air or a large enough port, then you're hampering the driver's ability to reach its full potential. Obviously it is possible to tune a sealed enclosure for any driver type, it's just an additional challenge. Still torn between these and the Kirin from TRN. I like the fact that these were tuned by someone with a good history of tuning prowess as opposed to the extreme hit-or-miss tendencies of TRN, but the Kirin actually fits in ears instead of covering them, and thus has the potential to be used while I'm sleeping. I'll have to wait for some reviews, I guess. The Kirin have been relatively popular, so maybe we'll get some more reviews soon.
company: Hey crinicle this would be a really beneficial collab Crinicle:yes this is great..... time to disprove some marketing shiz haha love the content cant wait to get a hold of em
Rightly, of course you make your interest first, obviously, and those who lads behind you, BUT you are great explaining and fair to let those who want to understand the words the 'between brackets'.. I hope I was clear enough... Keep up the cracking work 👌
@@Polyfusia who says it doesn't make sense? They already sold the Timeless to those willing to spend $200, now they are going a bit lower in cost, not necessarily quality, no?
Hey Crinacle, I've been getting educated by you for a time about IEMS but something that I like to learn and hasn't been covered by you is IEMS Bluetooth adapters/amplifiers through the MMCX conector. Hope someday you could consider cover it since some of us wonder if going that route would be better than buying true wireless earbuds
I own a Timeless along with with Fiio UTWS5, i can´t speak for the cheaper alternatives (i.e: utws3, utws1), but this combo, man the convenience is unmatched, i used my timeless with the stock cable for like 3 weeks then the utws5 arrived i put them on the iems and never looked back, this using a samsung phone with the regular Aptx codec, I imagine using a phone with better codec support would be better but with this combo i just put on the things on my ears, start listening to music and forget im even wearing earphones, this is my opinion, hope it made sense my english is not perfect!
gotta add that while using the stock cable i was also using it with a hiby FC3 dac so "power" or volume was not an issue. A-B testing with the FC3 and my schiit stack i saw no difference.
Deadass when crin said "it's been 6 months" I had a fucking panic attack thinking that the last time he uploaded was 6 months ago and that my experience of life had hit super speed and that within what feels like a week to me, I would become a pensioner
Still waiting for a justification whether should i go for Dioko if i alreadu have timeless. Because i think, from the graph, dioko would be better for bass driven songs
THANK YOU! Honestly, I liked the ZX Pro you collabed with (although I liked the Chu by Moondrop more). Honestly, I would like to try out a planar IEM but I think the Timeless is too expensive (third world country amiright?) so this is nice.
Just went down to Mecha and demo'd the Dioko prototype (as the Mecha boys called it) Impressed enough with them, smooth, refined, detailed enough and inoffensive sound when paired with the older black Final Type E tips, no signs of sibilance whatsoever. Bought the 2nd last one from the 1st shipment coming into SG Last guy who was there I chatted with preferred the tuning of the Dioko to his Timeless too (less shoutiness, according to him), after roughly an hour of listening from his own source. Hour well spent on the beanbag IMO
@@TheMechaStore That, he was XD That said, will you guys be getting the replacement filter sets to pass out to folks who got the under dampened Dioko sets?
pre-ordered one. Thanks, Crin, for such integrations. I thought about Timeless, but I would rather buy HD600 instead for the same price. But for $100 it's a bargain!
@@Hari-kx2er yes, I agree with that. But I already have some number of various IEMs, and having a $300 budget I'd better choose HD600 instead of Timeless. But for me - decision to spend $100 is much easier than $300. Maybe, later, I'll buy HD, but now I've chosen to spend $100 for new "Timeless", and I won't have that decision making process in future, when I find $300 budget for new pair of headphones =). For information - I have 4 IEMs and 1 over-ear, so that's not a top priority buy, and I'm not choosing something based only on use case/design, that's more about taste/experience.
At the present moment, Dioko can only be described as a new cheaper planar from 7hz tuned by Crinacle. Real reviews are needed before understanding whether this new iem merits the title of 'Timeless successor' or 'Timeless v2'. For me, this should at least equal the Timeless in sound quality for it to merit the title of 'Timeless successor'. That remains to be seen.
You already have the best and second best planar IEMs. Do you have any other IEMs? Getting the Dioko will mean at the very best you're getting the third best planar. I'd go for something totally different. A Hybrid IEM, with a dynamic driver for more natural bass. That's just me though.
@@coaldust01 I review gear dude. And I don't remember asking for opinions in the first place and noone heard it yet how do you know it has subpar technicalities.
Honestly I just want to know how different this IEM's sound "flavor" is compared to something like 7Hz Timeless. Already have Timeless so I'm just hoping that this will have a pretty noticeable "flavor" difference. Oh well it looks good so I might buy it even if it doesn't really have much difference lol.
I’ve bought an IEM wireless adaptor, I’m going to Chuck the dioko on the adaptor and use my timeless at home, so if they sound identical then hey, I like my timeless. Cant lose.
its not going to match the timeless ffs, its half the price with a much cheaper planar inside, keep what you have and dont waste money on this flavor of the month shite, if you need a different flavor as you put it, then EQ, its free.
So happy I found your new channel. Are there in your opinion any good headphones with anc? As I often am in busy environments but want to hear good quality sound.
hey man, are you in the UK? The power sockets stood out to me Oh! It's Singapore?? Never realised we have such similar outlets. We're outlet bros. Here, have an outlet kiss on the head.. Muah!
Hi crin, good work on this Dioko. The bass is lighter that I thought it would be but they are fantastic. Any EQ to try? I'm going to try my Tempotec dongle to see if the extra power gives it more bass. Regards and FOff
I am a True Believer and Not a Doubting Thomas !!! Anyone Who Doubts This Man’s Skills is a Complete Hater !!!! I Just Got The DIOKO 7 HZ and Now I Know What Music in Any Genre ???? Is Supposed to Sound Like 👍🏽 Any Artist Would Approve !!!! Crinacle Stay The Course !!! Haters Will Hate !!! Thank You 🙏🏾
Hello Crin , how does this Dioko compared to the Timeless ? In term of sound signature etc... Does it make sense for me to purchase Dioko since I have already own a Timeless ?
The process seems marketed like that, but I doubt the unit itself is an upgrade. More like they used a better manufacturing process to make good tier stuff cheaper and faster. Will have to wait for reviews/to try them
tnx for video, have you review earphone Mangird xenns up ?? What do you think about it? which of the models below is better and has a higher purchase value? 1) Thieaudio Monarch 2) Thieaudio ORACLE 3) Letshuoer EJ07M 4) Moondrop Variation 5) Mangird xenns up
Hey I'm certain I'll get a hard smack on the back of my head, but here's my question anyway: is it worth it to upgrade them with a 2pin to usb-c cable? i really see no use for a 3,5cinch if i'm using them with an adapter all the time (plus the extra cable length), but the cable is almost as much as the Dioko themselves...
