Yeah buy it. Wait for a deal that includes all the dlc though. Its a very relaxing game, unless you play with disasters on and an asteroid just annihilates your city
There's a heavy traffic in the middle of the city... What should I do? Solution: Delete half the city just to create an intersection just like this one.
I agree. This is more of a solution for a highly trafficked highway interchange. You would be really messing with your build to use this as it is in a high traffic area of your city. High traffic means there is a lot of density. Just not practical, but it’s a very beautiful road pretzel!
I saw they hired the guy who made the Intersection Marking Tool, Node Controller, and Network Multitool. So that's a good sign that they're likely going to implement those things in the next game I think.
I would add pedestrian bridges on the left and right of this, cause as far as I can see there isn't any way to cross from north to south on foot at all. Thanks for pointing this out, I probably wouldn't have noticed. (Or maybe I'll try building walking bridges in and out of that center circle)
Seriously though, I actually laughed out loud at that. It's so frustrating when you spend a bunch of time on an intersection and then the cims do some back ass wards shit.
Great video and great intersection! I'd love to see one like this but with a direct path for the other main road, without going through the roundabout. Even if it's not vanilla!
@@harveybirdman593 it could go underground. As one main road gets direct forward access without having to cross the roundabout by going above, the other could get the same but by going underground. My city actually has one of these intersections so that's how I know
@imperatur, love it. For the North to South roads however, I would do it with the two interior highway lanes going out into an underpass to bypass the intersection for straight thru traffic though. And then I would do a pedestrian overpass to cross the West to East road at the end of each intersection. Providing absolutely smooth and unobstructed traffic.
Did you see that video on how bad American drivers are with roundabouts? Absolutely tragic. They don't have the brain capacity to understand the concept. Not all of them of course but there we loads of people that just took it the wrong way round or whatever. Some did stuff I couldn't even imagine. Just totally lost. I have never seen even a child in Europe that didn't understand a roundabout..
@@imperatur Was gonna say just that. Roundabouts and such don't work properly in vanilla because the devs who wrote the traffic AI have probably never been anywhere near a roundabout. Yet those insane 4-way stop intersections can be made in vanilla.
My personal recommendation (true in life too) is that bad intersections have a lot of choices! For example a good 3 sides 2-way intersection has a total of 6 choices because each side has a maximum of 2 choices. So complexity is 3 x 2 = 6. If you take a 4 sides 2-way intersection, it has 4 x 3 = 12 choices (complexity 12). You just doubled it's complexity. Now take a 1-way street crossing a 2-way street. it has 3 + 2 + 2 choices (front-left-right, left-front, front-right), so a complexity of 7. Now you understand why cities use one-way roads in real life. My recommendation: Use 3 sides maximum for 2-way intersections. (T intersection) or use a one way road crossing a 2-way street. Doing that, you keep a low complexity of 6 or 7. Roundabouts have the same number of choices than the number of input output when using one-way because going forward doesn't need a permission (stop or light), so going forward doesn't count as a choice. A roundabout with 6 exits and 6 entrances is as complex as a 4 sides 2-way intersection.
That's is a insanely great intersection. Wow, it's probably the most amazing intersection that I've ever seen. Hope someone sees you work here and hires you to design real intersections. Great video and I just wanted to say thank you for sharing this with us. 👍💯👍
It’s really not? There’s backup on every section of the roundabout, and it’s not even that thought out. A two level roundabout isn’t going to fix any traffic problems unless it’s two small roads.
One thing helps with these bastards: a mod that let you specify from which lane to which they can turn, this because they seems to prefer line up in one fucking lane instead of divide in multiple ones
This is significantly better than the other intersection you made recently WITH mods. Get some TMPE running on it now that its built and it could be pretty damn effective even with super heavy traffic
11 out of ten. Best vanilla intersection I have ever seen. The only way you could improve it is if you had a monorail directly above the road. And posted it on Workshop, of course.
In case anyone is not aware. To fix the cars making an U turn on the highway connections (sad titanic music) you just need to make the highway longer and the game will no longer consider it an intersection. I think it has to be 8 units long.
as someone who lives in a country that has loads of round abouts, can confirm the further apart the enterance/exits are from each other make for smoother use and less bottle necking than if you have dunk a circle on a t intersection. its alongs like little on off ramps, having them on an angle entering and exiting is also really great too. and you can make little side lanes traffice heading either left (australia) or right (america) if there are build up of traffic as well just like in the video although this wouldnt be at all sides like this one, ive rarely seen one like this, with slip lanes for all sides cause it causes confusion for traffic i think irl
It's pretty good but pretty big. Contraflow left has equivalent vehicles per minute maybe even more, and like one fourth the footprint. Haven't played in awhile but also compact turbine or windmill is pretty solid.
Should also have overpass like you did for east-west for the ones that want to go north-south and vice versa cause they all still have to go via the roundabout. And made it so the cims don’t have to cross the road. But other than that, this is great!
The problem with using vanilla highway offramps for slip lanes is they have a higher speed limit than four or even six lane roads, so cars may choose to abuse them so to save a few seconds off their journey.
Very nice intersection, but it means there is a main road (the horizontal one) and a secondary road (the vertical one). How about making a second bypass over the existing one or underground for the second road, making it a huge intersection between two main road ? And of course, without fine road anarchy, move it and TMPE, it's hard to build it smoothly and to tweak it (damn u-turn).
the short 4-lane street with median (before the street goes up) will cause traffic jam without the Traffic Manager. It'd be better to go up right at the first crossing
I think i would like to see one for the start square when beginning a city that off the hwy that seems to be the hardest part for me to keep in budget to still grow the city
I play CS on Xbox one so it has its limitations compared to PC I think but, your videos are awesome and very helpful, subscribed last night. I have alot to discover through your channel, great work 👍
The Hell for pedestrians. Extremely expensive project just to breed cars. People are willing to pay astronomical money, if only not to build efficient public transport. Thanks for the 5:52 moment! 🤣
Couldn't this be optimized by replacing the lower roundabout by just a connection towards the left from eeach direction, with a little bridge over the other connection coming from left?
Obviously you've never had to deal with huge traffic flows with regular roundabouts... This streamlines the main roads without making cars have to stop. So unless you wanted to make cars go around a huge ass ring road to stop backflow of traffic, this is the way to do it. Plus a huge ass roundabout is basically an inverted ringroad.
Liked it so much and watched it again, very good job man you are creativ indeed. Can I suggest you improve it by adding a tunnel on the other road it would be even better with higher traffic density.
I have no idea why this was recommended to me, but I do know a real life junction fairly similar to this, the biggest difference is the one I know had a tunnel linking the north and south sides so both main roads had a way to go straight through.
roundabouts take up a lot of land space in reality. Main reason we dont see them more in the US. There is a tunnel near me with roundabouts at both ends, and it actually works quite well. But there are frequent wrecks by people who dont know how to yield.
I am not digging these huge interchanges all. I'm looking for compact innercity highway interchanges. Something like Boston's Big Dig, Tokyo Highway. or Chicago's Lower Wacker Drive.
Ok, cannot wait so create my variation of this intersection steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1916147631 wichout tree becaus asset give me only 64 tree. I put another walk path becaus i connect this with bulding section, just delete connection and connect house/office section.
this has a flaw though trees are not actually a good idea near drivers because you're obstructing their view. roundabout that has no trees are so much easier to drive into because you can see all the way through and can plan ahead.
