Hey I’ve been plant based for like 6 or 7 years, and I’ve never been able to make a cake - it either doesn’t turn out or tastes terrible. I tried this recipe and it actually worked and tasted amazing, so I’m super impressed! The only feedback is that the recipe made so much cake I couldn’t eat it all so I had to donate most of it... I’d personally just do about half :)

I actually made this cake yesterday for my roommates (one of them is vegan) and everyone loved it! Had to change the cream though because with the products I was able to buy it just didn't come out right (I used vegan ermine frosting instead). I also added berries inside and on top of it, and I think it really made this cake special. Amazing, absolutely recommend!

This is a very good recipe! I made it yesterday for my meat eating family. They really enjoyed it. The only thing I would change is putting the batter in three pans. My pans were not as deep as yours, so it overflowed inside the oven while baking. This did not affect the taste at all. Also, I didn’t add the coconut flakes on the outside. I will be making this again!! Thank you for sharing.

Hey Cess! Yes you can. Cream the butter and then add the the powdered sugar 1/2 cup at a time until it's thick enough that it would be able to pipe those. You likely won't use all the powdered sugar we call for. Hope that helps

I made this cake today and I’m sorry to say it didn’t come out the way I hoped. The cake itself came out great and it was delicious. But the frost came out too thick and too sweet. I’m wondering if I mixed it too much or I needed more milk. What would be your suggestion to help me better prepare the frosting? Also, is their a way to make this frosting taste good but not so sweet? Thank you so much.

If it's too thick, you can definitely thin it out with more milk. As far as the sweetness, you could definitely do a different frosting or you could sub some of the powdered sugar for heat treated flour. Unfortunately , we don't have a suggested amount at this time

Yes to coconut sugar, but it won't be as white. As far as we know, all purpose flour is vegan

Yes, 3/4 full, usually 18-22 mins or until toothpick inserted comes out clean

Hi! We always recommend making the recipe as is. You can replace with flax eggs, but it will take out some of the moisture and also have a nutty taste.
