Just wanted to say thank you. I’ve been feeling better since changing my diet. I have fatty liver disease and heart palpitations but they are slowing going away since I’ve been following you. No more fried foods, energy drinks/soft drinks, and I have been cutting back on meat (wife made seafood a few times) and no dairy for about 30 days. I’ve been using your recipes and it’s life changing. Thank you 🙏🏾
This is amazing! Food has the power to heal. Keep going, you've made some fantastic progress! I'd love to hear an update if you don't mind sharing with the community.
@@Dee-wk2mh Rice paper. I came across a channel that used rice paper instead of mushrooms. It does have nutritional value. I'm going to try it and if it's good, I'll return to let you know😊
This has GOT TO BE THE BEST VEGAN CHANNEL! Mostly because you don’t use refined wheat (bad carbs), and no refined sugar, which I am off as well. This is EXTREMELY important for healthy vegan eating in my opinion. There are FAR too many vegan channels that don’t look at the amount of wheat and sugar and deep frying they do in their recipes. That’s just not healthy in my opinion. For someone who wants to look at the details of healthy vegan cooking, look no further than this channel. ❤
Please explain how refined carbs are bad. I, too, once believed this mainstream myth, but, in following Dr. McDougall's starch-based diet directives, I have lived the proof recently that eating carbs in general---including white/ refine carbs---greatly enhances my weight loss. So I just wanted to nudge you to look into this, as I feel far too many of us villainize refined carbs, when, in fact, they can assist us with weight loss. #WeveBeenLiedTo
Yes. I made this really tasty recipe, but he forgot to mention that the mushrooms will shrink a lot. More than the regular mushrooms found at any grocery store.
Javant, your recipes are as eye-appealing as they are healthy! Oh, and we cracked up when you said you were gonna taste it for us... SUCH a sacrifice! LOL... you are helping so many folks. We are long-time and experienced WFPB cooks in our house, but you are as relevant in our world as you are in a newbie's world; you reach so many people and YT is finally promoting your channel. I am beyond THRILLED.
I didn't have any mushrooms, so used the marinade on tofu instead. I let it marinade overnight, roasted it in the oven & OMG!!! Soooooo good😋😋 Sooooo easy to make. Much gratitude from the UK Javant 🌱💚🙏
This looks absolutely amazing! I used to love BLT’s back when I ate bacon. Other vegan bacon on the market is awful and loaded with sodium and additives. This is simply made with mushrooms and spices. Thank you!!
I discovered mushroom bacon by accident some time ago but I didn’t have a recipe so when I saw you make it I wanted to try your recipe and it’s Delicious. For me the next time I make this, I’ll substitute liquid aminos for liquid smoke. Just because I use very very very little sodium . Another winner 😊
This makes a week of me being vegan and I need all the help that I can get… me coming across your channel truly is a blessing, I’m from the south and we love flavor. Thank you for sharing 😊
Binge watching, new subbie here 🙋🏾♀️ I've been an unsuccessful non flesh eater for years but now I'll be making every single thing you've shown. Thank you for being a master of your health and unselfishly sharing your knowledgeable skillful culinary journey with us. Much obliged!
These videos are not only informative and useful for most people, but also an important tool to increase the accessibility and acceptance of plant based diets and vegan lifestyle. Thanks for the powerful work.
Good morning Javant, You are so inspirational, I simply cannot absorb your energy, passion, dedication, and commitment for a healthy lifestyle regardless of the many times I watch your channel. As the “odd” one in my family, your journey has not only inspired me but you have taught me to continue making my purpose the most important thing. Lead by example is my biggest take away. I thank you for that. I would love to see links with descriptions for your cookware, appliances, and accessories you use during your demonstrations. Thank you, and thank you for continuing to be the Beacon of health for others to see. Wanda
Oh wow, this message is so kind! I really am touched by your words and appreciation for my approach and efforts. Thank you 🙏🏾 I will share all information regarding my cookware, appliances, brands, pantry staples, fridge and freezer items, etc in my HV Meal Plan & Fitness App when it is released in November. If you are not the App type, feel free to DM me on Instagram and I’ll give you the info you’re looking for. 👌🏾 Thank you again for the beautiful message!! 🙏🏾
I love your recipes. Simple and delicious. I made your vegan cheesecake last night with just few twist. I wanted mine to be chocolate so i added 1 tablespoon of cacao powder. It was so good, really satisfied my sweet craving without any refined sugar.
Thank you for being so generous with your talent and gift of food. I prayed the other day and asked God to teach me how to eat. That same day your channel popped up. Your food is straightforward, looks amazing, and it accessible. I feel confident I will be able to sustain this journey. Thank you!
@@healthyveganeating what would you say are some of the staples I should always have available? For instance, should I go shop for lentils, psyllium, coconut aminos, etc… and have these things pantry ready? I want to build my base instead of always having to go to the store (except for produce) as little as possible. I hope that made sense.
My Healthy Vegan Lifestyle Support App will be available a little later this year. It will have about 500 recipes searchable my name or category, and they are also printable. It will provide nutritional information, meal plans, printable grocery lists, and will include cooking videos with every recipe. There will be videos showing how I stock my pantry, fridge and freezer. I have a series of videos discussing my brand recommendations, appliances, cookware, and three videos of me shopping at my local grocery stores and providing tips for what products to look for. There will be dozens of videos on what foods are the healthiest and why, as well as food hacks for cancer, inflammation, high blood pressure, diabetes, etc. There will be several workout videos that I put together for all levels. I also have a few videos on getting quality sleep and the value of having a positive mindset. It would be a great resource to give you some guidance for navigating your transition.
I have recently made the decision to go vegetarian but there is so much information out there about what is good and what isn’t and seems like everything is trying to sell you something. I’ve decided that I like your recipes the best and my reasoning is that yours seem more realistic to how we humans actually eat. Thank you for sharing and helping this newbie 😊
Go all the way, and ditch the dairy. It's hard yes, when you first do it, but research what happens to calves and why they're taken from their mothers as soon as they're born. Female, to continue the milking process, males are sent to slaughter houses or to be caged to "create" veal.
I’m impressed My Good Man! Carrots and tofu would not work for me! Lol! Elated to get such a straightforward recipe like this one! My second batch of Vegan Ground Burger is kicking my tastebuds into bliss! Loving my desire to mimic my Grandmother’s practice of making everything from scratch! Assuming a meditative demeanor blesses the whole process! May you Remain a distinguished cut above all the rest! You do know you are in a CLASS OF YOUR OWN‼️♥️
I made this today. when i first tasted the vegan bacon, I thought, It's ok, then I tasted it again, thought, hey this is pretty good, then one more taste, man this stuff is GOOD! Thank you for giving us this recipe. I did user portobellos, because the Whole Foods didn't have any that day, they came out ok, I did add some liquid smoke also.
I am soooo glad I came across your channel! I was searching for a lemon almond ricotta recipe and I saw your recipe and I made it! Turned out delish! I am certainly going to try this recipe for the mushroom bacon. I have been vegan for 3 years but found myself buying the Beyond and Impossible meat substitutes and I want to get away from that. Thank you for teaching us how to make your own!
Oh wow love this idea. The other day I barbequed some portabella mushrooms that I marinated in Dr. Fuhrman's no oil walnut balsamic vinaigrette and some Trader Joe's no salt seasoning and they were so good!
I am going to try this! I tried rice paper, banana and eventually went with the vegan bacon still not happy with the texture and taste. This will be my lunch for Saturday!
Wonderful! I actually made this bacon today. I close my eyes popped it in my mouth and my senses told me I was eating bacon and it tasted like bacon! Absolutely wow
MANNNNN........... Listen....... What day I'm doing this😊........ You have some VERY PRACTICAL ideas and is honestly helping me get BACK to Veganism..... I'm almost there..... THIS one here is JUST fabulous 😍🤩
I am planning a cookbook for the end of next year. However, I will be releasing a Meal Plan & Fitness App later this summer that will have all the IG recipes and dozens more. It will also allow you to print grocery lists for the week or just for the meal that you are preparing that day. It will have many other features, so stay tuned. If you would rather just have a cookbook, it should be available by next Christmas. Thanks so much for appreciating my page!
You were right, I didn't believe how good they would be until I tried your recipe, It was delicious, thank you for sharing ( the marinade was right on point )
Yum. I had a couple portabella mushrooms in fridge that needed using and I found your recipe. Love your poise and mannerisms. This is my new FAV channel!
Hi Javant, your recipe looks so good and I will be making this very soon. Also I LOVE the way you present your meals and cakes and puddings, they all look SO delicious!! But also so healthy, many thanks Fiona
I made it with portobello and used the air fryer. Sooo good! The marinade was perfect. I did have the same problem with my “taste test “ 😂 Thanks for sharing!
I've been plant based for 5 years and I do miss a good BLT 😋 I don't really eat the vegan processed foods, but I love king oysters, so I will be trying this very soon ✨️👩🏾🍳
Liquid smoke is also great to add a smoky bacon flavor. I marinate chickpeas for a bacon flavor. Love your recipes. Wish I could find trumpet mushrooms here.
Glad this channel showed up on my feed. That bacon looks so good. And I'm glad it's oil free. Can't wait to check out your other videos. Oh, and I subscribed!
This was really good! I made the whole sandwich last night, and I can't wait to make another one today with my leftover bacon! I ended up having to get the pre-cut Trumpet mushrooms, as well. I had to slice them in half, like you did, and the bacon still didn't come out as crispy as yours. They were pretty soft. I think next time, I'll try to see if I can cut them even thinner and turn up the heat on my oven to like 400 degrees and see if that does the trick. Thank you so, so much for this! I really, really enjoyed the sandwich and have a new favorite recipe to put into rotation! Thank you!
I have as per my previous statement become a vegetarian. I have a question that someone may have the answer to. I’m beginning to think that the soil we cultivate our vegetables in is not safe. Vegetables growing in dirt will absorb nutrients, water and anything put on or in the dirt it grows so how is our vegetables safer than meat? I’m sure that organic is much better and safer but sometimes they are cost prohibitive and the cost for organic is skyrocketing. Nothing is going to deter me from giving up meat but needed to ask this question about the veggies from some seasoned vegetarians. Thank you for any help from this 79 year old newbie. Never to late to start lol
I remember when my younger sister was getting married and my daughter and I along with my mother and other sisters stayed at her home which was located on a military base in Virginia. The apartment complex was surrounded by a forest of trees. I will never forget inhaling the aroma of bacon from those hickory trees all day everyday. It's too bad my sister moved shortly after that.
Yum! Your recipes look so good! A bonus that they are healthy too. I haven't tried making bacon with oyster mushrooms, but I will for sure after seeing this! I make coconut bacon all the time, great on a wedge salads! Have you tried the Local Spicery's "Bacon Seasoning", it's salt free! (smoked paprika, sumac, carrot, garlic, onion, pineapple, tomato, mustard, kombu, thyme and cumin) They have many salt-free seasoning blends, all milled in house and fresh. The smell in their store is intoxicating!
Hello Javant, I just subscribed to your channel. My sister shared your channel with me. Your meals are one-of-a-kind and refreshing. In this particular video, what kind of bread are you using? Thank you!
I am using my HV Burger Buns. If you look in my Cooking Show videos, you will see the Buns there. Thank you for subscribing, and please say thank you to your sister for me too!
Ah, I’m in love with mushrooms 🍄 And didn’t realize I could make vegan bacon out of them. What is this mushroom called you are using? Never saw them in the nearby stores :( And one last thing, do you have a recipe for the gluten free bread with all healthy ingredients? I haven’t had bread for so so long 😮 And watching you eat this sandwich, teased me (same as eating your sushi (new recipe). Teaser
Thank you so much for this video! OMG, I cooked some king oyster mushrooms yesterday, using the Korean BBQ sauce I love and taco seasoning. couldn't believe how they came out tasting like bacon.... I'm now hooked on mushrooms! Next up, I'll try something with lion's mane.🎉
I've always heard people say wipe them off with a wet cloth. It's very rare that you'll see someone on a cooking show rinsing their mushrooms in water which is what I do. I just squeeze the water off.
