Good video. We’ve had the most success with yoshi crafted world, Kirby star allies, and mario odyssey. All 3 have gentle difficulty curves, yoshi has an “assisted mode”, and the collectathon nature of all the games helps with replay ability.
Don't have kids or anything, but I have a feeling that Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door might be a good one to play together, The story should be simple enough for little ones to enjoy, the battles are turn based but have some timed button presses so you can take it at your own pace while also having the something to keep hands busy without being overwhelming. All the numbers are also small and easy to grasp with basically no math skills, and you might even be able to teach some simple reading and math skills along the way. Pikmin would also be good for a bit of an older audience, the games can be somewhat demanding on the dexterity and intellectual side.
