I guess lawnmower and car wash simulators are kind of meditation, where you don't think, just concentrating doing something. Driving a car is actually form of meditation too, while there is many of driving simulators out there. More action makes it more fun but can make mind stressful, thats when car simulators gets into racing simulators. Reason for why calm meditation games gets good reviews is because people whom buys them knows what they are getting, a calm game. Action games gets more of negative reviews because people are expecting something but game isn't what they were looking for and are more critical about them because they had expectations trought trailers. (Wrong graphics, unnatural physics, zombie did fall unrealistic etc etc). And that stress can make people unconsiously more critical or negative too.
I haven't tried power washing or lawnmowing, but I distinctly remember my reaction to Euro Truck Simulator being something like...."Why the hell would I want to do that though?" and it turned out to be a truly great game. We're a weird type of animal and we get enjoyment from weird things.
I'm 50 years old. I played dungeons and dragons every weekend when I was a kid and teenager. Me and my friends would put money together to buy all the companion books from the local bookstore. Go to the library and make copies of our character sheets. Fun days.
I’m also an older person player at 55. I get together with my brother most nights to play Pop One (level 64). I was intrigued by D&D, but didn’t play as a kid. I do love Demeo and have Dungeons of Eternity, but have not played it enough… giving me what I missed as a kid.
I think it's the satisfaction of seeing dirt come off like taking off black stuff and showing the real color of stuff. I personally can't get hyped with the work sims but I vaguely understand the feeling. It's like when you roll stress balls in your hand or popping bubble wraps but accomplished something
I hate doing chores bit lover power washing simulator. I do enjoy using my pressure washer though so maybe being able to do it without fiddling with hides and getting my feet wet. There's an odd discovery puzzle game aspect to it too.
Yup. My wife doesn't like video games but is absolutely obsessed with powerwash simulator. As you said, some people just wanna relax and powerwash something instead of being stressed by difficult or competitive online games. These games are highly rated and sell like crazy because lots of people enjoy them, it's as simple as that. Haha
@@Gaze73I understand what u mean and I felt the same way until I actually played these games. I was like why the hell would someone wanna power wash in a video game and now I’m hooked 😊
I feel the same way about chore simulators and work simulators. I mean, I dont want to get off working 8 hours, do the dishes, and then jump in a game simulating doing the dishes or any other chores I did.
I totally agree on the Lawn Mower game. Why? Just like the power wash, I think what might make it cool might just be the idea of doing something you know how to do, or already do, in VR. It is a whole another element, especially when seeing it as virtual graphics instead of real life. I think that might be the reason. I don't know other than that.
powerwash sim was fun to watch with videos and lectures. it is satisfying, simple, mindless zero stress filler to compliment whatever music videos etc youre also enjoying powerwashing in game is vastly different to real life, because irl it's hot and humid and it's loud and it makes your hands hurt and its tiring and exhausting to move around and the progress is super slow and youre just standing in the one spot for 5 minutes looking at the ground
Power wash vr I just find it relaxing. When your not in the mood to drive, solve a puzzle or battle monsters. I jump into power wash. Its not taxing at all. Just a fun time to pass the time away.
I think I'm going to default to nepotism as much as possible, but I've had a few approach me asking me to work with me, I'm just at a point where I have only a few regulars and a lot of debt to settle, so the overhead of an employee, and all the canadian legal bullshit that comes with them are just not something I can deal with right now, especially since I'm mainly trying to pay for chemotherapy treatments for a family member@@Ushanka94
Built your own body tracker suit? That's so cool. I'm really irritated with myself... I went through the Asgard's wrath story way too fast. I was just having so much fun. I should've savored it more. I think it took me around 40+ hrs (I'm not sure), and i still have so much more to see.
The UEVR mod isn't perfect but I feel it's on the right path to what we need if we, as PCVR gamers want to play quality PC games in VR. To that end, I've been fully immersed in Palworld. Literally, the last 3 days been doing 12 hours straight in VR each day. quite literally forgetting to eat lmao. Again, the UEVR experience is not perfect by FAR but I'm obviously finding what it's doing for me with Palworld to be fun. Also, finding I really like 3rd person in VR. lol
I've never understood the chore sims either and I just don't know how to feel about Titanic anymore as the supernatural element is in my opinion unnecessary. I felt like the idea of escaping the sinking ship was scary enough, that's just me though.
OK! I got it. Conspiracy time. "They" are trying to train people into accepting "working" in the metaverse for the time they lock people in their pods and make them eat the bugs.. lmao. Ok, I'm done now ....
YES!!! What's the deal with menial tasks being turned into VR games!!! Did these people never have chores as a kid and they are trying to recapture that?! Keep my VR out of that!
@Matteo311 you are missing two things. 1) people like cozy games... Low key stuff; 2) in many ways VR is about fantasy. For many having a car or a garage or a big enough yard to have a lawn that needs moving is a fantasy. Maybe they like the escapism of a completely different living experience in those games. It's not THAT far from Overcooked or games where you make burgers, ramen, sushi, etc.
Simulators are not meant to be games (obviously)... The pay off is different. First time I tried 'The Deep', an 'experience' that came with the Vive. I was in chillmode instantly. Messing with the jellyfish and just appreciating immersion was so different than being swarmed by zombies. I suppose some of us seek immersion for immersion's sake, a kind of zen thing. We prob all have similar vices. I play Hubris from the beginning pretty often, and lose interest when it turns into a shooter (even though I love shooters, it's just not a great shooter). The environment and sounds are great wind-down from whatever else I got going on.
I'm split on Titanic, I was all for it until I heard there would be a supernatural element. For me the idea of escaping a sinking ship is scary enough!
Honestly to say, I am getting tired of Arena shooters and some of the games that are semi arena shooters, being converted to Arena shooters. It's like grindy room after room after room after room walking simulator and doesn't feel like exploration and adventure. Good example of bad conversion I would say Battle Talent. They recently added Mixed Reality mode (where you can fight all those goblins, elves, and undead in your house) but they also converted their original more of dungeon crawler with Arenas events in between (understandable why since standalone VR headsets would have hard time with it otherwise) - basically kind of like Dungeons of Eternity in single player, but it also had parkouring, climbing, jumping, wall running etc. in-between. Now it is nothing more than another Arena event from one to the other and "The New Dungeon Mode Challenge" been basically thrown onto the backburner as the sidepiece, when it should of been the main course meal.
I'm with you on not getting excited about cutting grass in vr... when is mixed reality dishwasher coming out!!?? Lol😂..I think it's because people find it satisfying?
I think the virtual chores really comes down to a more relatable experience, without the actual work and effort involved. Plus, you can only power-wash your driveway or mow your own lawn so many times. As well, when are you ever going to get the chance to power-wash a monster truck or a helicopter? When would you get the opportunity to mow the parade grounds of a medieval castle? There's also an awful lot of people living in urban cities that, plain and simple, will never have the opportunity or need to actually power-wash or mow anything. Personally, I don't have a lawn to mow, I don't have a driveway or sidings that need power-washing; and it'd be super weird to rent a power-washing setup or a ride-on mower and ask random people if I can power-wash their driveway or mow their lawn. That being said, personally I have no interest in either Power Wash Simulator VR or Lawn Mowing Simulator VR, but I can see why some people might.
Recently my File Explorer stopped working. I had to make clean install of win 11. I didn't have much stuff downloaded from sites but uevr mod was one of them. Just curious and saying this if other people comes to same problem.
Baldurs Gate 3 might be one of the best, or not just thee best game I've ever played. I don't know how they did it, but they did it, and when you experience it, it immediately becomes apparent why a lot of AAA devs were bitching about it. It shows that a game can make mountains of cash, be of incredible quality and with no bs microtransactions. It's an absolute flourish for gaming.
I was excited about the UEVR, but then I realized that it's not for me: 1- I have a huge backlog of amazing native VR games that will take me 1-2 years to complete, so I might never need modded games. By the time I go through my native VR backlog, there will be a lot of new native VR games that will interest me with all the AAA games that will be released this year and next year. 2- I see that the modded games are not top quality, they might look good but the camera and VR implementation will never be like a native VR game
I have the same feeling about the mowing and power washing apps… I don’t understand why anyone would be attracted to it. Ghost of Tabor sounds cool, but on the preview I watched it seemed that every time you die you go back to the starting room and have to resupply. Think I’d get tired of strapping up, making a journey to find action, only to get sniped and go back to the starting line again. It looks cool, but that’s my initial hang up. I’ve got so many games I bought and have not really played.
Hi Matteo311, hope your well ? Not that I mind looking at you talking about VR but Im more looking at your room / setup behind you. Do you have a video tour of your place ?
I'm with you on not being interested in games based on chores; I think It's stupid. Also deeply curious about the D&D VR title. I hope it has photorealistic graphics.
Regarding mowing and washing things in vr/gaming - no, you're not missing something. I think those who likes those games are missing some things irl though 😅. I mean, I can only imagine that it would seem like a totally amazing thing to cut some grass, if you've lived your whole life in a flat in the middle of a city 🤷♂️
I mean it's totally cool that you don't like power wash or this mowing game. I mean we're all different and have different likes. Although I'm not really sure why we should have to explain why we like it. I mean it's not going to change your mind or anything and by reading the comments it hasn't.
I'm not going to lie I tried power washing simulator on the PS5 cuz it was free I was like okay I kind of see but then it came out on the quest in VR and I got that and I can't stop playing the damn game there's just something about the game you know you're wasting your time cleaning things digitally not sure if you really want to do it in real life but it works in VR it's relaxing and fun
Love your news. Got a Quest 3 from Christmas. Do you know any god card games, like regular card games, hearts, solitaire etc? I started working on something in Unity, just for fun.
I totally agree with you. Why the hell would i want to do chores in vr! I pressure cleaned professionally for 2 years and it sucks ass. And dungeons and dragons in vr would be a dream come true! As long as they do it right and its available on quest store. Im exited
Regarding the "real life" chore simulators, perhaps it's people who live in an apartment complex in the city and have literally never owned a home or have done yard work.
My friend power wash for work... i send him a rewiew video of that game from an italian yutuber saying "washing is really funny" you can imagine hes answer 😅
I fully agree about the chore games, that was my first thought about them right after hearing the titles. Mowing a virtual lawn would get boring in 2 minutes flat.
I wish I could understand WHY i love powerwash simulator, i simply can't though. I thought the exact way you did until i tried it on my nephew's ps5. It's way better on mouse and keyboard and way way better in vr. If you have tried it and don't like it, I dig that but if you haven't tried it....by all means, try it. I have lawn mower simulator through humble choice and have never played it but I'm tempted, despite having a lawn care business.
You don't get it I believe like me because you are an adult that understands these are jobs that people do for money rather than for fun. Or worse for free to your own property. I feel like it would be satisfying to people with certain types of OCD.
I call on yiu to do the Lay's challenge with power wash simulator. I thought like you too until I tried it. I still don't understand one bit, just tried it on my nephew's ps5 and was hooked. It's bizarre
I'm with you on the powerwash simulator and other games like that. I don't understand why anyone would want to do themes like that for a game. Maybe it's mostly younger kids playing them. It's a mystery to me.
It makes me wonder a little bit if this is a future of robotics being controlled by humans, we take the VR headset and clean our house, we're controlling the bots doing the actual labor. :-)
Oh great more trash coming to the vr store. Can't wait to get some real quest 3 games. Can we move past the tech demo stage already...damn. I'm trying to get more heads into vr, but shit releases like these keep them far away.
Vr still struggles with a money and tech problem but honestly things have just been getting better and better over the years. The bulk will remain indie or casual for awhile but a lot of vr games enjoy these experiences. I'm addicted to asgard at the moment
I believe these working simulators were made for kids to play and get an idea on how it works. So hopefully when they get older they can help out. But, with some us adults being kids at ❤️ we enjoy playing as well. Me personally would like to be productive and do the real thing. I loved D&D and it would be cool to experience it in VR but, I would much rather have Red Dead Redemption 1 and 2 come out with a VR mode. I want to live out my Cowboy experience in VR. It is still one of the best games I’ve ever played. And would gladly buy it again if Rock Star made a proper VR port. Really, Any Rock Star game would be great if it incorporated VR properly. This would be my dream come true. 😉👌
Ive been waiting for February now since the last time they pushed Madison VR. So now I'm having so much hope for this release to happen on the 20th. But there are also two flat screen games that I'm looking forward in February, Pacific Drive, and Nightingale on the 22nd. I'm sure after buying 3 games in one month my budget is blown to bits. Thanks for the video, and the information. Hope you have a great day.
Re. the various simulator games, particularly ones for power washing: you get feel like you've "done something", you get to "uncover" things you'll probably never see in real life, and unlike chores, you don't HAVE to do them to keep your house from falling apart. Also, it's kind of meditative... and usually--so far--no one is trying to kill you while you go for your goal. All the results with none of the stress!
Knowing you guys you'll get another table top board game and get a 1-1 VR version of D&D and your player base will divide into 2 categories. Those who wanted an RPG MMO and those who wanted the board game in VR.
