What I love about this way of working, is that it allows you to later use your tracks to play live gigs. Thats awesome, thank you. Nice track btw.

As someone entirey new to Ableton, coming from Logic years ago, this was sick to watch you build out a song in real time using session view. Most tutorials just show how to swap between the two and briefly touch on Session but this shows the power of it. Sick!

@whostroubled Месяц назад
@@LouixIskander wow appreciate this one, to be honest I mix in logic and produce in fl studio. But I used Ableton for sometime when I was making house grooves. The session page is serious for that, especially if you have a novation launchkey lol. Ableton pricey though, logic is the ultimate goat
@LouixIskander
@LouixIskander Месяц назад
@@whostroubled u still make house grooves and how have you improved? I don’t see why I’d need to leave ableton even though people say logic produces a more neutral sound

Thanks, this is perfect for where I'm up to at the moment I've been playing around and making full sounds and wanted to know how to separate them out and make an intro, a drop and other parts. So this is exactly what I need to see. Subscribing to your channel, you can be my tutor. Definitely keen to see part 2 after I've gone away and put this to practice.

Not seen this idea on RU-vid but it's totally a powerful use of.ableton functionality. Took me a while to work this way myself but it's the future! It's easy to get confused in Ableton because of the possibilities but one thing this approach does is let you go mad with experimentation and then make sense of it later. I can have multiple ideas in one channel and multiple tracks that I can then play with and discover happy accidents with combinations of track sounds and clips. Not sure you covered it but a key part of my workflow these days is playing with all kinds of mixtures of clips to discover arrangements that feel good and then use the 'capture and insert scene' to create that mix in one scene with all the relevant clips aligned horizontally. This way I can start another set of scenes below all the madness of my experimentation that form the arrangement in a sort of progressive way. That way it's just a case of progressing through the arrangement scene by scene. Once that's done, like you I'll get into the fairy dust and automation in the arrange page. You could even export groups at this point for some self-imposed limitations to keep you focussed on mixing or mastering duties. With a good workflow I think Ableton can give you maximum creativity and functionality. Great vid and probably saved some people a ton of pain!

would you be willed to explain this concept to me in an anydesk skype session further?
@Username_Invalid
@Username_Invalid 11 месяцев назад
Basically if your are playing random clips in session mode, and even if they are in different 'scenes' or 'vertical space', no matter what is muted or playing if you hit 'Ctrl+ Shift+ I" or the mac equivalent it will create a new scene with only the playing clips. Soo say you have a bunch of clips and not sure what might create a good section of the track or sound good you can play clips from any part of the session view and hit the shortcut and it combines into a new scene 'horizontal line' ready to trigger. @@Anorectic.Bumblebee

I remember discovering Ableton over 10 years ago and realising how amazing the session view is for building tunes in a non linear fashion; blew my mind. Do you feel more people should be making beats this way? I still see a lot of people start their tunes in the Arrange view - for me, you're not using Live as it was made to be is you do that. Now that I've got off my soapbox, good vid! good luck with the channel mate.....

So the best way for arrangement is not using arrangement view but session view. How does the rest of ableton work, to make melodies you need the drum kit and for synt sounds you select a drumcomputer?

So, when you're arranging, you want to use session view. Got it.
@warminstrel2284
@warminstrel2284 Год назад
I do the same but literally use one clip for each element then use a launchpad to trigger and record the result. Means you can instantly and spontaneously record the track rather than create an arrangement in session. I use this method to play live sets at gigs. I condense the elements into 8 groups to fit the midi controllers paradigm with a beat repeat and filter on each. First group kicks n snares, second other percs and so on... means each time to play your session, it's different. Check my page for examples.

Is there a way to tell ableton to sequentially play each scene for a specific amount of bars automatically?
@synthohubeducation
@synthohubeducation Год назад
no, but you could easily just count the bars yourself. this would be a pretty boring arrangement though and defeat the hole object of this technique imo
@classwar2000
@classwar2000 Год назад
ye man, its one of the foundations of the software - check out 'follow actions'. You can set it up to do a few different types of 'action' (such as play next, play previous etc...as well as some chance/random settings too) per 'scene' or 'clip' and when those actions should happen i.e. specify bars or just after a clip has played its full length for example. Its cool as you can have it just auto playing through your scenes OR you might just have it play through a bunch of loop variations just on one channel. Hope that helps...
