I do drywall repairs and remodels and I use a the 18v Makita drywall cut out saw XDS01Z it's been on the market for quite awhile and the blade can be adjusted to desired depth. Same concept as the jigsaw but without all the fiddling, plus it has dust extraction.

awesome trick, I have to cut all my drywall open to install insulation, and my wrist was already hurting thinking about cutting it with a hand saw. Now I'm going to the garage to break and old blade :) Thanks guys!

Had to cut out a strip of drywall in the kitchen to easily remove a tile backsplash and this little trick helped immensely. Just zipped right down the wall and no studs or wires even got touched.

Get a Makita Cutout Saw. 18 volt battery powered and dust control. It’s has both drywall and wood cutting blades available and the blade is adjustable for drywall thickness. I have been using it for 3 years... Available at Amazon and other sites.

I just cut a piece of drywall out of a closet wall. I used an oscillating tool with a half-moon blade. It's a slower way to cut but judging depth of the cut is not very difficult.

What kind of blade (demo, wood, drywall?) do you use and how much mileage are you getting off a blade? If you use a guide to cut will the edges of the sheetrock that you leave hanging be clean enough for another piece to be installed next to it and begin tape/mud?

How does that small blade react if it hits a drywall screw? Just curious.
@Prodigalson55
@Prodigalson55 3 года назад
I would use a finer tooth blade for wood. If you’re cutting down the middle of a joist or stud , you should feel when you’re hitting a screw. Just drive closely around it

Makita makes a tool (XDS01) for this, and it's like 9000% better. Clean straight cuts exact depth so no kicking wires or plumbing, and little to no drywall dust!

Milwaukee makes a drywall blade, makita makes a drywall specific saw that also collects the dust
@TROUBL3-CHILD
@TROUBL3-CHILD 3 года назад
i own a couple of the milwaukee drywall blades only problem is they are approx. 1.75 inches long... too bad they aren't available is exact drywall thicknesses. But good news Makita makes a cordless drywall saw. product XDS01Z
@footlongburrito
@footlongburrito 3 года назад
@@TROUBL3-CHILD they are that long but because your measuring from end to end, there is the section of the blade that slides into the sawzall chuck, the blade in actual use only cuts through 5/8 drywall
@TROUBL3-CHILD
@TROUBL3-CHILD 3 года назад
@@footlongburrito not so my friend I am aware of how to load a saws all and how to use a measuring tape. Since you most likely don’t own one keep your uneducated opinion to yourself
@footlongburrito
@footlongburrito 3 года назад
@@TROUBL3-CHILD clearly you're uneducated, as stated if you were able to comprehend, I said when in actual use it's long enough to cut through 5/8" drywall, I never said it was 5/8" in length, your original comment made it clear you own a tape and possibly know how to use it but dumb enough to have a gripe with the length of the blade but not account for stroke length and the shoe. If it was the size of you, then it wouldn't be long enough to cut the 5/8" drywall and would be deemed useless such as yourself.
@TROUBL3-CHILD
@TROUBL3-CHILD 3 года назад
@@footlongburrito congratulations you didn’t watch the video the whole point was to not cut anything on the other side . Enjoy your goldfish attention span . And read your own previous comment . Maybe your are having illusions . Believe me 1.5 inches full stroke, sounds like what you are working with with your childish comment
