Easiest way for me is to have on shoulder, kill fish while underwater. Then whistle "Attack my target" then immediately double tap F to release and it instantly eats fish. Can do it way faster than way shown. Much more efficient. Trick is after it eats immediately grab and shoulder again. Use flippers! Count 5 then grab and throw on beach and it will lay egg.
Wouldn’t it work to just have tamed hesperornis follow another mount, walk the mount next to fishy waters, set hesperornis to aggressive and the mount to passive, and put an oviraptor next to the mount? That way hesperornis kills the fish, but circle back to the mount to lay the eggs, which in turn is protected by the oviraptor. Or do they have to be set to wandering? I’ll test next game session and post back🤘🏼
2 foundations, 5 stone railings, one ramp; best built on side of raft. Use grapple, and drag Hesp across ramp into railed box. Good chance you'll need a couple grapples as when it spooks It breaks the grapple. I used this lil build on the side of my raft and caught multiple Hesp. Use an Ichthyornis to retrieve fish. Aloha! Keep the content coming!
Best way to tame shoulder mounts is to grab them with an Argy. The Argy can pick them up in its mouth and will hold them even if you dismount. Makes otters super easy as well.
I found it easier to leave off wandering but turn on aggressive. They will kill and harvest the fish and when ready, eventually start coming back up to shore. You have to watch them because sometimes they will go back in the water and you have to whistle neutral or passive and bring them to the shore. Also have to watch out for them randomly running off after stuff but if you are in a safe area like in this video or the pond in the North East, it works ok. Still takes an obnoxiously long time and those eggs don't last very long.
Bring a Oviraptor par male + female and put it a one by one metal box nearby. It'll gather all eggs and maby boost the egg drop (just a guess. Have not tried).
theoretically if you can get it there safely there are tons of fish that you can't fish for in caves on official, and let them have a blast, so long as they aren't getting attacked by them like what happened in this video.
@@AwafiKnight I’ve been using a low level hesperornis on official PvE. So long as it’s not podded (haven’t tested if that affects it yet) it will remember the count of how many fish its harvested and how many are left until the next egg. Biggest thing to remember is to make sure it HARVESTS the fish bodies as kills themselves don’t increase the count, and bring it to shore every 5 fish. Aim for an area with no piranhas if possible as the group aggro can be dangerous for your hesp. If piranhas are inescapable, use flippers and a pike to keep aggroing the piranhas to YOU so the hesp can snipe without being noticed. If a piranha DOES bite your hesp, the hesp will start targeting piranhas and kill them without bothering to harvest the bodies before seeking the next target. Your best bet is to target piranhas first with your hesp on “attack my target” so your pike attack pinpoints the next one for it to snipe while they chase you. Leaving piranhas active while hunting can also lead to piranhas swiping the fish corpses before the hesp can harvest. Alternatively, use a high damage crossbow that can one-shot fish. The hesp still aggros to the corpse as your most recent target, and it only has to dive once, making the count to 5 much faster. (Not recommended with Salmon as any shot that fails to kill on the first try will result in an angry swarm of growling revenge)
Theirs a old video that shows a farm method with a pachy and a little Dino pen. I want to test it out on asa. He uses the pachy to agro fish to him and he takes them into a cage like area
i live in a pearl cave/raft on unofficial and im about to move into a base that can be demod (where you shot the vid) I have ichthyornises i use for weight, and incase i find a baryonix i can have it fesh me fish, auto farm fish meat, etc. super nice, i also been looking for otters
its not very random.... its almost every 5 eggs or so and you get a golden. ive had hespis on both ase and asa cause you need their eggs for the rhynio
As far as I'm aware, no. They have to be set to aggressive and left on wandering to lay eggs, which they won't do until they've killed and harvested 5 fish.
