Thanks for the earlier reply. I am aware of the 1,000 download minimum within the prior 30 days. Therein lies my challenge, aka as "being between a rock and a hard place!". I'm nowhere near the 1,000 minimum and need something like "the ad initiative" to get to 1,000 plus monthly downloads. Not complaining! I'd be most appreciative of any guidance you can provide. I'll get there!
The ads are included in other podcasts. Those ads can be heard on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google Podcasts, and anywhere else that podcast is played. You've got complete reach.
In the audience targeting portion, I only saw 3 areas to target. My audience is health and wellness, which was not in the three listed. When or how will that target audience get on the roadmap as a target audience to pick?
We're pulling those categories from your podcast. If you'd like to target other categories, just update the podcast categories for your podcast and they'll update as well.
Hi. Love the idea, but is there any way to know the names of the podcasts that are running my ad so I can listen to their shows and hear the ad placement? If not, what others ways can I use validate what I purchased?
Great development. Also it would be good to see/ hear live example, however, I understand that's not always possible. :-) ps I know can't please all of the people all of the time just some. 😀
Absolutely! We've got a few live examples on the homepage for Buzzsprout Ads that you can listen to: www.buzzsprout.com/ads We're also just recorded a new video on how to make a great promo that will come out next Thursday!
Only if you'd like to. You can go to the Monetization tab in Buzzsprout and turn on Buzzsprout Ads. Then we'll send you promos you can run in your podcast to make money.
I like this in theory, but it feels like "pay, spray and pray." Buzzsprout doesn't give you a list of podcasts they host, to see how many underwater basket weaving podcasts are out there, or if they are offering a similar product to you. Thoughts? Am I missing something?
WARNING - Expect poor results and disappointment....at first. Am I saying BSAds don't work? Not at all. It's too early to tell. Here are the stats from my first ad, which you can judge on your own how effective it was. NOTE - In the ad, my call to action was to check out a specific episode of my podcast. I knew the number of downloads for this episode at the start and end so could easily determine if the ad was successful. Downlaods before ad = 14 Ad Spend = $140 for 10,000 Downloads Podcast Matches = 857 Ads played = 74 Downloads after ad = 14 Conclusion = My ad played 74 times, which yielded ZERO additional downloads. This suggests a few things... 1 - The podcast matches sucked and need to be narrowed down. After reviewing the podcasts that played my ad and those that were a match based on the criteria I chose, there were HUNDREDS of podcasts that had nothing to do with my niche. For example, I am in the self-development space (self-help if you will) and my ad was featured on a podcast about Bonzai Trees. 2 - My ad copy sucks??? I followed the critical points outlined but it probably needs some tweaking. 3 - It's too early to tell. This one hits home for me . How can I possibly judge this after one attempt? It's like going to the gym for a week and being pissed off that you don't have a six pack. Long-story long, expereince thus far tells me that while there will certainly be potential to grow here, there will be some bumps in the road so be prepared to fall flat on your face but then get right back up again.
Hey, I saw your post about Buzzsprout Ads and the problems it had 8 months ago. Is it any better now? Has this helped your podcast since then? How's it going now? We've been doing our podcast for about 8 months too and now want to try and grow it somehow. We've done no marketing, so it has a pathetically small following.
Question - so, if you purchase the least expensive plan of 5,000 downloads for $100, in this situation, is a "download" a download of the show that played my ad or is it a download of one of the episodes of my show?
I think your video is a bit misleading. I bought 10,000 downloads and didn't see anything. It's a roll of the dice how you set it up, and unless I'm missing something there isn't much info we get back from you to show what worked and what didn't. So basically we are hoping we throw it out there and get something back, without knowing what to tweak or do differently to get better results. I think your platform gets you in the game and gets us to throw some money at it, but I ended up spending $140 with no results and no idea why I got no results. You could argue the price was great, but I could have done a lot of things with $140 that would have left me with a better feeling.
That's a bummer! I'm sorry you had such a bad experience. We're looking at ways to give you better stats of how your promo has performed. And thank you for the feedback!
This is great! How about podcasts in spanish? My podcast is in spanish but didn’t see an option to select language so my trailer is distributed accordingly. Also, would a trailer of someone elses would show randomly on my podcast or do I have to agree to it?
I can not see the discounted amounts and the options I get start at 10k downloads at $200. How is it that the 5000 downloads isn’t an option and the discounts don’t apply
Great question! Yes, though it can take longer for your promo to be filled if your promo is recorded in Portuguese since we'll only match you with shows in the same language.
Hey Chris! We don't guarantee downloads of your podcast. When you run an ad you will be purchasing the number of downloads that your ad will be run on other podcasts. I hope this helps! If you have any other questions, you can reach us at support@buzzsprout.com
