At first I read this as “The Best Way to Behold Poi” and I gotta say I was more excited

Nice vid as always. I still use single loops with my flowlights. I use the "jedi grip" which is putting the loop between middlefinger and ringfinger but the tether is facing inwards and then ends in the keygrip you mentioned first. Most control as well.

I personally put the tether between index and middle finger and just switch to key grip before i throw, im just not that comfortable with the key grip but im only slightly less than a year into spinning so maybe i’ll change that eventually

One thing I probably should have mentioned in this and didn't is that I actually shift my grip at times as I spin depending on the effect and point of control that I want and I reckon a lot of people do.

A good work around I found since I like that key grip but am starting out with spin balls with a double loop is that I loop one only around the middle finger and key grip it right at the little metal swivel! Viola

I shift my grip, I mostly use the one left over from the double loop handle I first had (between ring and middle finger) but I also use the key grip. And when the tosses go really weird sometimes I end up with reallllly weird grips for bit and those are always fun to shift out of while spinning 😂

I prefer the hold at 7:30, I grab the whole rope. I'm huge advocate for this because it leads for better control with STALLS! I like to think of my Thumb leading to the same direction my poi head stalls. No matter up / down just follow your thumb.

Interesting! I'll sometimes use this grip when I'm doing a lot of plane changing to get access to something with slightly shorter tethers but still gives me access to contact and throws. I'll have to try it more for stalls and see if I get the same results!

Love your content! I've been learning Poi with your videos as the primary source for three years now and have been having tons for fun. Would you please be kind enough to share the exact specs of the Poi you're using in this video (looks like dark monk, but not sure about rope length, width, ball size etc)? Thanks!!!

Hey Drex :) I see podpois in the background. I bought podpoi v2 after watching your review - thanks for making it. Yours seem modified somehow. Are they? I use the index-middle finger grip. Sometimes the rope passes through the knuckles of my fingers and the move is not as clean. Any advice to correct that?

I've got a couple sets of podpoi behind me. Both have the newer Smithy ropes on them that Flowtoys is now using instead of flowcord. No modifications. Unfortunately since I don't use that grip it's hard for me to issue corrections. Try out the key grip and see if it gives you more control!

You are talking way too much so that it is very difficult to filter out the little information that you are talking around. The teaching itself is good but please shorten it.

I'm really glad I went with this cut, then! An earlier version of this video spent an extra minute at the beginning talking about the anatomy of poi and more of the history of different materials used in all the different parts.

@@DrexFactor As someone who started poi many years ago, when the loops were more common, the topics you brought up really helped me transition to modern day grips. So I appreciate the extra time spent talking about it.
