Thank you for showing us the PCIe cables plugging. I had to file down part of the ones that enter the GPU because the ones that my PSU brought (Gigabyte's P1000GM), had a small plastic line, rail, whatever you want to call it, on the opposite end of the PCIe 6+2 cables. This means that, when attempting to plug the cables in, they did not go all the way, and the bottom did not -click- and lock in place, as it prevented the cables from going in the necessary distance. After hours upon hours of not realizing why my monitors kept "losing connection" and my 7900 XT kept turning it's lights off (mine has a low white light near the fans), I have finally found out why this kept happening and it's all thanks to this video, so a huge huge huge thank you good sir, I can finally use my PC without having to restart it and reinstall drivers every 2/3 days.

Amazing video! Goes way more in depth than any other sort of guide I've seen. I'm coming from integrated graphics on my Ryzen 5 7600X to a 7900XT reference card, when using DDU to clean my system of existing graphics drivers, is there any other sort of special option I need to uncheck? Or just unchecking the options for AMD chipset drivers as shown in the video?
Always a pleasure my friend, so very happy you stopped by, trusted in me to help you, liked and subbed as well as took a moment out of your day to thank me. It means a ton to me and I am so very happy I could help you. Yup, you are right, uncheck it and you are good.
I would recommend installing a brace to support the card to reduce the strsses on the PCI socket and protect the GFX cards PCB from cracking overtime. I was unhappy with the stress installing the 2 x 8 pin power plugs put on my card while trying to manage them and also how they looked so i bought and installed the Thermal Grizzley Wire View GPU adapter, not cheap but to myself worth it, This provided better cable management and less stress on the card and a wattage display. Thank you for providing an excellent guide in the best way to install just about any graphics card, Take care, God bless one and all.
yup, for sure, and in this video I go over 3 that I have used, well 4, I hope you like it: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-hyEJz56yg24.html, do you use any of those? Thats an interesting adapter, I would love to review one, I may reach out to them at some point, I've never seen it before, looks cool. Thanks for letting me know about it and I hope the very best for you and god bless you as well.
@@MrExdous69If they included it sapphire knows you need it to use there card and it not be damaged over time. Sadly few companies do something from the goodness of there hearts if a bracket is provided then they think that the stresses on the card of not being supported will lead to damage over time.
Thank you so much for this video. After seeing the 40 series supers to be lackluster i ended up replacing my 3070 with a 7900xt and its been workinf flawlessly

Ha me too. I was holding out hope the 4070 super would have more vram or the 4080 super would have been a little cheaper. I could have gotten the xtx but didn’t think the extra 10% was worth $250 more. I also could have gotten a 4090 but I wanted to stick with an all AMD build if I had to drop 2k on a gpu. I was tempted to wait for the release of the RX8800XT which is rumored to be faster than the 7900xtx but at half the cost… but didn’t want to stick with my RX7600 for almost 2 more years.
4070 is a great card, you are good my friend. I don't know if you would be hitting your memory limits though, might want to throw up afterburner and enable the onscreen to show memory, you might surprise yourself but still it is a nice card. but yeah the 7900 is much nicer.@@MrExdous69

Very good video. My sole complain that you mentioned not to use eps cable at putting in the card, it would have been nice to show what eps cable is and whats the difference.
In my latest video I show where it connects, as for the difference, it won't fit unless you push with all your might and break plastic pieces since the mold is different, very small to see. Connections will sometimes read EPS/CPU and PCIE/VGA at least the good power supplies do
@@ThisBytesForYou Ah makes sense, thank you. Reassuring to know its usually marked and not easy to fit wrong. All in all, hats off to you, this vid was very easy to follow.

@@devonefoster105 Well, if your budget is high, I would say a 4090, like here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_AJlNxuukww.html for the top of the top, including Ray Tracing, if you don't care about Ray Tracing, maybe a 7900 XTX, but the 7900 XT still will give you great performance, but you may want to utilize FSR for even better performance.
You mentioned not to daisy chain the PCIE cable. Does that include the 6+2 PCIE cable that also has another 6+2 plug attached to it? I have a Corsair CX750 Bronze. It does have 2 PCIE 8 pins at the PSU. So I do have an extra cable if necessary.
if this is your power supply, it has 4 x 6+2 cables, which it would have 2 cables, each having 2 x 6+2 Pin connection. So you would take 1 x 6+2 cable and plug it in, then take the other cable, and plug that in, not cable 2 connections, 2 cables 1 connect each.: www.neweggbusiness.com/product/product.aspx?item=9b-17-139-199
@@Pazo139 Yeah, I think about it this way, treat it like a straw. By yourself, you can drink a drink regularly with a straw, the hole is only big enough for 1 straw, but your friend wants one too, you can't fit another straw in but you pop a hole on the side of your straw to share. Now when you suck the drink, your going to be missing a lot, so is your friend, your going to puff on a lot of air pockets, it won't be the same, I consider it similar, you won't get the same power. I have a short question if it isn't to much of a bother. i plan on buying a RX 7800xt, i an heard a few people saying it is a triple slot card, and we might need a support bracket for the GPU otherwise it could possible damage the PCI slot in time. Know if that info is true?

no, you dont need to reinstall windows , from .02 to 6:25 I show you in this video how to change your BIOS from BIOS to UEFI and your OS from MBR to GPT, these cause these issues. Also, your HDMI cable needs to be HDMI 2.1, if you are using HDMI, can should not use adapters, they will cause issues and if you use DP, you need to make sure it is 2.1 as well. This should let it work, if need I will need more information to help yoiu, but give these a try, and here is the video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-aHVCmkm67q8.html, I know its a cloning video, but from 02 till 6:25 it shows you how to make the necessary changes.

Hello I am having issues. I just got an AMD Radeon RX 7900XTX, that needs 3 pcie connectors. How do I find out if a pcie cable is compatible with this specific graphics card?
they really screw you with that power supply, only 2 cables, but they branch out to 4 cables. Sadly, I would have to tell you to use those 2 branched out, daisy chained cables. Check in the power supply box for them.
I’m not changing GPU but will ddu help with my current issue? My display adapter keep saying error I get shitty resolution every time I I turn on my pc . Had to install drivers twice already but ig windows is deleting em idk . It’s a 7900xtx
Thank you, this helped me figure out some really dumb mistakes I was making. Only thing is, I currently only have a daisy-chained cable to connect to both PCI-e 8-pins (well, 6+2-which by the way don't click together as nicely as they do for you). How serious a problem is this? Could I at least temporarily do it that way, with a daisy chain, until I get another separate PCI-e cable?

Also, 6+2 is perfectly fine, and it didn't click together so easily for me either hahah, but I don't want to waste your time watching me fumble around, they are always difficult. As for daisy chain,... it could cause issues, it may not, its a gamble, try to keep that limited as much as you can it could cause bluescreens and/or loss in performance so please do change it when you can. What is the manufacturer and model number of your power supply?
@@ThisBytesForYou Thank you for such a quick reply! I will try to get another separate cable as soon as possible, but I was just curious if I would at least be able to turn it on to see if it works properly and is correctly installed. I take it that it should be fine at least for a few days while I wait for a cable that I will order? My power supply is brand new, it's the Seasonic Focus GX-1000.
anytime bud, so the website shows you have 3 cables, 2 x 6+2s with the daisy chain and 1 x 6+2. You can use the single 6+2 and one of the daisy chained 6+2's, just don't use the second connector. Check inside the power supply box, so 1 cable, 1 connector used, never 1 cable 2 connectors used. Reference (scroll to the bottom): seasonic.com/focus-gx# I hope this helps.
@@ThisBytesForYou I was just starting to realize this must be the case, haha! Someone else actually installed the power supply for me and I don't think he fed the other cable through properly so it can reach the GPU. I'll ask him about it. Thanks again!

I will try to do this with DDU now. I installed RX 7900 XTX without all this, just installed amd software, and now every time I launch MO2 the software crashes. And doesn’t open. I don’t understand what’s going on. MO2 is a mod manager I use to mod Skyrim. While I am playing it, its also impossible to launch the amd software. Hopefully after doing this the issue will be resolved

QUESTION! I have the option to buy a used 7900xt, for my own pc that im building but havent recived any parts yet! My son have a new PC with a 6700xt. Can i just swap out his 6700xt with the used 7900xt to test that its 100% working order, or do i really need to go thoug all the driver uninstaller to see if my GPU is good? and then repeat all of it again once more to get his new 6700xt working 100% Seem like a big hassel, and im to lazy to do this multiple times😀
If you want it to work well, do it the way I show you, if you are cool with the potential of issues so it the way you mention. Save time now, spend more time later. Teach him well

hello, my psu cable has two 8pin pcie connections on it, is it okay for me to just use the one cable with the two connections? or should i use two separate cables running from the back of the psu and let the second extra 8 pin connections on both wires just dangle?
Hey bud, no, I NEVER recommend doing that, its kind of like sharing a drink with your friend, using one straw, you just pop a hole in the straw and insert another straw into it, your both going to be getting the drink, but there will be a lot of bubbles, not the full stream. Use 1 cable for 1 connection, so 2 cables for 2 connection, 3 for 3 and 4 for 4. You can dangle, just use zip ties to make it look nicer.
I installed the drivers but my card’s fans are still spinning the temperature are below 50 degrees celsius. I have the same card as you do. Im unsure why this is happening.
Yeah same here over here the weather has been crazy hot. Not used to the heat at all as I live somewhere were it's cold all the time. these are my specs: 1. Motherboard: ROG STRIX B550-E Gaming 2. CPU: Ryzen 9 5950x 3. RAM: Corsair vengeance 16GB 24000Mhz 4. Video Card: XFX Radeon RX 7900XT Gaming Graphics Card 20GB GDDR6, AMD RDNA 3 (RX-79TMBABF9) 5. Power Supply: Corsair 750Wx80 PLUS GOLD 6. Monitor: KOORUI 27 Inch QHD Gaming Monitor 144 Hz, 1ms. 7. Yes I have all PCLE connectors plugged in. 8. HDMI. 9. unsure about this one. 10. unsure about this one aswell... 11. Yes. 12. No. 13. Thank you.
I did forget to ask you, what is the case you are using? Also, right click on an empty space in your background, then click "AMD Software Adrenaline Edition" then click "Performance" then click "Tuning", then click "Custom" under "Manual Tuning" and do you have Fan tuning enabled or disabled? You might want to enable it, then enable "Zero RPM" and you can also adjust your fan curve when you enable Advanced Control.
I have a modular power supply so I plugged in a cable with 1 pcie, but I have another cable with 2 pcie's on one end. Would that be the one I need? Thanks
@@ThisBytesForYou Thanks bro! I was nervous because this is my first GPU upgrade.. Ive added SATA ssds, upgraded my ram but haven't touched my GPU yet but I just ordered my 4070ti so I want to get it right! Thanks for the fast reply, earned a new sub for sure

can i use the DDU software when installing a new cpu. as on the 25th august im upgrading my rig from a 6600XT and 5800x to a 5800x3d and a 7900XT Nitro Vapor X (Sapphire). also how can i find out what bios update i need to flash my motherboard with for the new cpu (the board im using is a rog strix b550-xe)
are you using on die graphics from the cpu? If you are going from a 6600XT to a 7900XT then yes you would use DDU, those are graphics, but if you were using the graphics from the cpu going to a gpu then you would use DDU as well, Display Driver Uninstaller. To find out if you need it for the cpu, you would look here: rog.asus.com/us/motherboards/rog-strix/rog-strix-b550-xe-gaming-wifi-model/helpdesk_cpu/ BUT I recommend updating it regardless, you can find the BIOS files here: rog.asus.com/us/motherboards/rog-strix/rog-strix-b550-xe-gaming-wifi-model/helpdesk_bios/ I dont have that particular board, but you can see this video on how to update the BIOS for another B550 board: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-AWxliGLert8.html, dont use the specific BIOS in that video, use the link I provided in the comments above.
Ordered my card today, I still have a ryzen 5 2600, think it’ll be fine? I def have to upgrade, and I do not have onboard graphics is that an issue when wiping drivers? Thank you in advance!
Sorry for my possibly stupid question, but I just have my doubts. And when in doubt, better ask. I want to buy the Sapphire NITRO+ AMD RADEON RX 7900 XT Vapor-X 20GB, but it has 3x8 pin. Does this means that I have to connect three separate pcie cables from the battery to the GPU? Thanks for your help.
@@ThisBytesForYou I have the Inter-Tech Sama FTX 1000 watt PSU.. Looks like there are 8 times a 8pin available on this PSU. Then I buy at least three separate Pcie cables to connect them between the PSU and GPU. Thank you for your quick reply.

Ok, huge problem, I followed your video step by step. I also have an AMD chip set, so I unchecked all the AMD boxes as described, did the clean and shut down. I installed my 7900, connected the monitors, powered up, and nothing, no display. Now how do I install the new drivers, or for that matter, do anything???
Well, you saw it worked perfectly for me, as it has the several thousands of times I have done this, this was part of my job... So just breath. Turn off your computer, disconnect the HDMI cable from the video card and the monitor and reseat them. Are the pcie cables connected to the card, not daisy chained together, 2 separate cables? Is your power supply at least 700watts? Is your pcie card firmly inserted into the pcie slot? Drivers won't stop you from seeing what's on your monitor, there is an issue, are you using an HDMI 2.1 cable?
@@ThisBytesForYou I got it, I realized I had two monitors and a VR headset all plugged in. I unplugded eveything except the primary monitor and that took care of it. Sorry.
not at all, I use a 1000Watt or a 1200Watt, it will only use what is needed and then you are safe for the future when other cards come out you wont need to keep buying power supplies. My 1200Watt is about 15 years old and my 1000Watts, 2 of them are 3 years old and the other is 2 years old.... I have swapped NUMEROUS cards in between them, none have ever needed close to what they can offer, buy more if you can on that.
@@ThisBytesForYou Had to go under Microsoft account and took a picture of it for keeps. I don't understand why I have to put it in every time I go into safe mode. I thought I seen that it could be disabled. This is my personal computer and not public use and shouldn't have to deal with this.
it was not needed in the past, BUT as MS does updates they start making things required. Are you an admin of your machine and does your admin account have a password and a pin number? This might help.
