Yes. A cardiologist yrs ago told husb he needed BP drugs (titrated to highest dose) for ‘spikes’ and cholesterol drugs. New GP was confused about why and put him on 72hr BP halter. It went up briefly one morn (w/cortisol). No drugs. Changed diet (plant based w/some fish worked for him) avoid junk food, more breaks from biz we owned and over 10 yrs later still doing great.
I’m 27 was put on medication and sometimes my blood pressure gets too low I’ve tried explaining to my doctor. I exercise and eat right. Everytime I go in her office my Bp is high even on medication but twice I went to my ob/gyn and my Bp was 106/78 and 110/77. I would test my blood pressure after getting home from my GP and it would be beautiful. White coat syndrome is a real thing and Bp meds don’t control Bp when very anxious. I feel tired all the time.
So true…they always measure after aggravating me by making me wait so long, walking a distance to the exam room, then have me jump on a weight scale, then strip down or climb onto the exam table & possibly give a urine sample in the rest room. Then they expect to take my BP and get a baseline. The 24 hour average sounds perfect.
Cordless measure circuit, loop or dipole antenna, capasitive variative via change of epsilon r or distance, RLC f zero variable, distance can variate, measure amplitude signal max value, there you have passive Ep self independent measure probe
My blood pressure is always high at the doctors office. At home it is WAY lower. It's called "white coat hypertension." Just being at the doctors office sends me into an anxiety attack. I hate being there. Everyone should have an at-home BP monitor. Take it throughout the day to get an average and take the monitor to your doctor before he tries to give you a drug for it.
Thank you. It's such an important point of view to share. Also, with afib, the reading is unreliable anyway! You are a wellspring of knowledge, support and empowerment, Dr. Gupta. Blessings to you always! 🙏🏼💙
What do you mean the reading is unreliable? I have aFib..I’m 87 and my BP averages out 160/70. I am now on200 mg of metoprolol a day. I have been told it’s good for elderly to have a highest reading, but I do get nervous.
Good morning Dr. Gupta! Thank you so much! I agree with you Doctor. I've experienced my BP climb when I took it. So I'm going to wait till all tests are done. In a month. I have been fine. Have a wonderful, blessed day! Love you doctor.
I have a good diet and try to keep fit but was put on medication a few years ago after I got chest pain ...it makes me feel so tired though...how do I get off it?
No, it can be very dangerous. Depending on what you are taking and how much, you need to be weaned off medication. Skipping or stopping cold turkey can cause issues with your heart and arteries. I had the same issue when I was on them stopped because I never really needed them in the first place 😢
