i had duck hunt as a kid in 1985. spent many late nights with my little brother and friends trying to beat each other's scores, shooting an oily-ass gun cuz we were eating tons of pizza. good times.

There's a Classiq III HD with Genesis support coming out for those interested.

Good vid, I was thinking after the stream that you could replace that switch on the light gun with a small potentiometer to get a more precise shot instead of either barely working or straight to God mode

So I guess if it doesn't work on the solo Duck Hunt cartridge I guess it doesn't work with other zapper games such as Hogan's Alley or Wild Gunman

I like the part about trying to get Duck Hunt working lol. I was looking to replace my NES which apparently has a bad graphics chip, according to the weird symptoms, and the dude at the video game store said they don't sell NES because they're "unreliable" and suggested the Old Skool. So I got a Classic N (does NES only) and it does the job, even if Mario Bros does sound a little weird.

I've been on the fence about getting either this or the retro duo, but I think I might get this (Update: i ordered the system)

As I got my hands on an HD CRT, I’ve been wanting to find modern versions of NES and SNES consoles that work with cartridges. As emulation can be hit and miss. I’m also planning on getting a used PS3, as I really want to play Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. As I cannot for the life of me to get it working on the PCS3 emulator, even going into the most advanced and technical settings in the emulator. The dammed thing keeps crashing. So I kinda gave up on emulating MGS:4. It would have been nice to run MGS:4 at 4k 60Hz on my LG OLED. I grew up with NES, SNES and PS1. My first experience with Metal Gear however wasn’t actually Metal Gear Solid. It was the real Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, as a family member had a genuine MSX. My ultimate dream CRT is the one and only Sony Trinitron GDM-FW900 and has been since I saw one in the local Circuit City. My dream OLED monitor is the Corsair Xeneon Flex 45” 3449x1440@240Hz monitor. That would probably be an incredible experience to run an ultra wide 1440p at up to 240Hz and OLED to boot.

Thanks for the info, probably picking up one today, find your video because of the circumstances. I wish it had more filtering for crt mode or something, I actually PREFER it to look muddier/ worse 😂

Have you tried the Analogue Super NT? I think it’s also a very good product and it’s something I’m on the lookout for considering they’re doing one last run before discontinuing it

To add from my previous comment, if you could point me in the right direction to find cartridges that have genuine copies would be great. As I especially want to get Super Mario Bros 1 and 3 and most especially all 3 SNES Donkey Kong Country games. I’ll of course go from there, but I really want to get cartridges that have genuine copies of NES and SNES games.

Dammm kinda wish I got my girl this instead of an original snes. Had to get an av adapter so she could play it. It would have been cheaper and she could have gotten 2 consoles in 1 :/

Im always looking for something like the Hyperkin Retron 5 but something that can actually output 1080p. The Retron 5 was released in 2014 with 720p output... back when i had a 1080p tv. The issue was that 720p introduced horrible input lag and gaming mode could fix it but 720p looked awful on a 1080p display. Well ive moved on to a 4k display and im always looking for something newer that can at least to 1080p because it doesnt look bad on a 4k display. Im blown away its still 720.
