Great Advice Greg - I as well am a musician and a drummer. I got married and stopped chasing my dream, didn’t play for 10 years but when the kids got older I started playing again. Tried out for a popular local band and got in. I was able to open up for some of my favorite bands. I am no longer playing in a band as life had other priorities. I do however play every day for 15 minutes and do aspire to chase the dream again. Right now still working in retail almost 30 years but looking to make a change for Barber School and become a Beard trimmer etc. Thanks for your words = I just turned 50 and life is amazing.Have a great weekend.

Great, thought-provoking video, as always, Greg! Before you lifted your copy, I was actually thinking of Daniel Coyle’s “The Talent Code,” which I read about ten years ago (in paperback). Doing short bits of practice of things you enjoy every day (instead of long practices sporadically) is the name of the game. I spend 30-60 minutes every day doing neuroplasticity exercises and foreign language practice, from which I derive immense pleasure. It’s quite gratifying to be understood by someone when attempting to speak in his or her language, when it is not the speaker’s own. I may be due for a TTC re-read. Thanks for the reminder!

I knew it just wasn't beard stuff, you are piano player. I've played with many pianists over the years. Some with a horribly heavy left hand & others that never step on the bassist. Me being a bass player, am able to work with either, heavy left hand has made me a much more creative player. Ones who don't step on toes, I hold down the low end & enjoy listening to the pianist be more creative with the left hand. Over the years I've been the one who is able to adapt to others more than their able to adapt to me. One thing more certain for me is, 1 Pet 3:15 but sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and fear, Keep um coming Greg & enjoy the weekend 🎉

Nice segment. I noticed your beard seems a little on the dry side. Not criticizing at all, I have those dry days like any of us bearded wisemen! I think we all get caught up with everything on the market ( I’m guilty) but when those days happen, I go for straight coconut oil. The old standby and it’s instantly back. I’m not sure if anyone else has experienced this but it worth mentioning. Keep up the good work.

I think the film you were thinking of is called The Secret of My Success (1987)

To the point of age, a lot of famous people, not in show business but particularly in science and art, made their greatest achievements in their sixties, seventies, and even eighties. It is said that Warren Buffet made his first million (in salary) what he was 60 years old. So no reason to give up for age reason alone.

Is beard balm suppose to feel like grits with not enough milk or butter? I bought some and it feels that way, but it melts down just fine.

I have some beard balm like that too. It’s kind of annoying but as long as it breaks down, it doesn’t bother me too much.

Total randomness: I always wanted to be a writer. My school teachers encouraged me to be a writer. My parents encouraged me to be a writer. Everyone told me I should be a writer. So what did I do? I went to work at the airport for American Airlines. 45 years later, people now tell me I should have been a writer... The Secret of My Success. One of my favourite movies of all time, in spite of Helen Slater being in it. Have you seen any of the Austin Powers movies? If so, you'll know of Dr. Evil and Mini Me. Well, you and your DJI microphone. The mic is literally a miniature version of your beard as viewed from Australia. I loved your "never too old" comment although I'm not sure I can agree with it. Perhaps its true as far as chin-ups go, but let me tell you that being 58 years old and trying to learn how to use DJI Pocket 2 and Insta360 X3 just isn't as easy as it might have been when I was 38 years old. You made it look so easy when you went strolling around your neighbourhood with your invisible selfie stick that I immediately purchased an X3, and several months later I'm still struggling. Another great video. Thanks :)
