I can confirm this advice works. Atm I workout at the gym 2-3 times a week and swim 1-2 times a week. That all began by adding 1 pushup against the wall a day. That became 1 pushup in the AM and PM, that became 5 pushups, that became 1 gym session/ week etc. Over a 3 year time frame. Can highly reccomend reading Atomic Habits or Tiny Habits. Both great books. Right now I'm adding daily journalling to my routine for my mental health.
I 100% agree. When anyone asks for advice I always start by asking "What healthy thing can you add?" The more good you add the bad stuff falls away naturally. I have also recently wondered if people who track started tracking their bad habits if it would help them be mindful to replace them with something healthier. I am glad you shared this message. 🧡💪🏼🧡
Thanks so much, Misty. It's a big mind shift but it makes such a world of difference. Not just for weight loss either, just life in general. Appreciate the support 💖
At my heaviest, when I started exercising, I started with 1 minute aerobic segments, twice a day. I told myself - I can do anything for a minute! So I did. Then I went to 3 minutes, twice a day. Then 5 minutes. Then 5 minutes 3 x a day. Now I do somewhere between 15 and 20 minutes twice a day, and often I add another 5-10 minutes of strength building in the middle of the day. That's probably as much as I want to do, while still enjoying it. I know that once I stop enjoying it - that will be the end of it. So I do what I enjoy - and I continue with it. I like it! Great advice, Sara!
Oh, I LOVE this. I'm actually talking about intentional movement and why you should find things you LIKE to do - so what you said really makes me so proud of you, it's important to keep exercise as something you enjoy because if you don't like it, you won't do it (I'm 1000% that way). Good for you and thank you for watching my video, I'm glad you enjoyed it!
❤️ It’s pretty cold here so I’m going to add some window shopping at the mall. I’m not really tempted by retail therapy, but I do like to look at beautiful clothing/accessories. That should be a fun way to keep moving.
Love the advise.......I like the concept! I have also been really trying to focus on only what I CAN change. My weight last week...or what I ate last week I can't change...but I can change it tomorrow!
That is an excellent outlook as well. I think accepting the things we can/cannot change is a big part of personal accountability. Let me know if you find some amazing habits to ADD to your day 💖💖💖
❤ I have added roller skating once a week now that I've lost almost 100lbs. I also just joined a hiking group and will add hiking 1 day a week. I add protein to all my meals when most meals before, didn't include protein. I'm also looking for more things to add to my life.
Makes total sense! I recently watched a video about gut microbiome (or something?), basically saying how important it is to eat a variety of plants for gut health. It just sounds so fun, to try to ingest even tiny amounts of a variety of fruit and veg, seeds, etc. Instead of focusing on deprivation, you're filling up on the varieties of food our bodies need anyway!!! Getting motivated just talking about it!! 🫐🍐🥝🍍🥒🍉🥦
It's definitely a challenge as a bariatric patient but it CAN be done when you really look at your plate and see what you can ADD to it. You got this, D, I am cheering you on from here! 💖💖💖
instead of eliminating soda from my diet, I introduced iced herbal teas. There are so many types that now I'm hooked on trying new tea. now soda is way too sweet.
Awesome idea! Swaps are a great way to give yourself something healthier without the elimination mindset. Every now and then I have a toddler size cup of soda and it is SO sweet!
It is a monumental mind shift and really such a game changer. I meant it when I said I should have taken this approach sooner in life. It's just not what I was taught. Now I know better. Keep going on your video walks, that's an awesome add!!! 💖💖 Always cheering for you!
I need to start moving more. I was doing really good until the holidays and now I need to get moving again. Another thing that I am doing this year is eating seasonal fruits and vegetables. If it’s not in season in my area I won’t eat it. I also garden and buy local so this helps me know what is in season. ❤. Great video.
That's a great ADD to your day! Even just a little bit counts, doesn't even have to be crazy. Be sure to let me know how you do, ok?! I'm cheering you on over here! 💖
Right, of course that's true, but the idea is to think of the thing you can add instead of alcohol, like a healthy habit replacement. I'm going to drink more water/tea/whatever (instead of alcohol). Focus on the positive *additions* rather than the negative elimination.
