We are Kim Henry and Eric Paré. We are a dancer/photographer duo making our way using a tube, a feather, and a flashlight. Everything we do is lit by hand, one frame at a time. Light-painting for us is a lifestyle, and this is what we share with our audience. What remote trigger are YOU using for light-painting? (either with tubes or other tools...)

I can recommend YouPro MC 292 :) Works great for me and is very cheap:) Try one someday :)

I finally got this Yongnuo RF-603N II Wireless Flash Trigger as a Christmas gift this year. I have now used it a few times. But it worked great when I was shooting fireworks on New Years Eve. Of all the camera remotes I have had over the years this one has been the best. Thanks for making this video. I am going to write a review on B&H about the Yongnuo RF-603N II Wireless Flash Trigger and reference this RU-vid video in my review.

Yes. Following your guidelines last year, I got two pairs. Perfect. Two on my cameras, one in my hand, and one as backup or one for a friend. I have 4 different cables covering pretty much all models. Only problem is on button is easy to turn on and had battery drains when reusing next time

Hi guys Have a look at the Hahnel Captur for standard remote or Capture Pro for programmable setup. 👍

I had purchased a YouPro YP870 Intervalometer for my Painting With Light experiments. Lots of features but unfortunately the range was not as much as sometimes needed and it required a CR2 battery which is not always easy to find. Interestingly, I think I used to use the Yongnuo triggers for my external Flash work and had forgotten that these will remotely trigger my camera as well!

Thanks so much for posting this I thought that money would solve the problem. As I have only had cheap radio remotes. I would have bought one of more expensive remotes to solve the problem. Only to find out it didn't or even new problems. I use a sony A7R first gen well up until a few days ago when the shutter failed.. I got a meike grip with the remote built in This was a solution to several problems but nice having the radio remote seemingly built into the camera. At first I had a lot of trouble figuring it out because it didn't have the slide lock like my previous remote. It does have the half press and I still have fails but recently just figured out that if the batteries charge is down about 1/2 on the meter it is more likely to be inconsistent. These grips are made for most brands and no matter what name it has on it seems to be the same unit. I just may end up getting the trigger you feature in this video . It seems like the best and a great price point. Kind of an aggravation they don't come with sony cables but I can probably use the one I have.

thanks Rob! This is the right cable for most Sony cameras: www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1053362-REG/vello_rcc_s2_2_5_freewave_2_5mm_shutter_release.html

Thanks for the videos. They are the most helpful and fun to watch. A couple of questions... It was mentioned that the trigger half-press is essential for mirrorless vs dlsr. I don't get why that is. If you manual focus you don't need it, so why use auto-focus in the dark? If you auto-focus both mirrorless and dlsr function the same way with half-button press focus (or back button option). What am I missing? Also, I have a couple of pocket wizards I was going to try to use to remote trigger my camera. Did you run into issues on those?
@Ericpare
@Ericpare 3 года назад
hey Daniel! Thanks for the kind words :) the half-press is not about auto-focus (you really have to keep your lenses on manual-focus). In theses situations, the half-press is about keeping the camera in a ready-state so there is no delay at all when you request the exposure to start. It can help even with DSLRs. Actually, this is one of the tricks for us to trigger 176-cameras in sync :) Try it, you'll see About pocketwizards... I have a few as you can see at the beginning of this video. Some models can't do half-press and most are not reliable. I tried them a lot. They're good for lights, but for camera shutter, they're not really good (tho I haven't use any of their new models from the past 4 years) But that doesn't really matters as the yongnuo is so inexpensive compared to the pocketwizard Let me know if that helps :)

yes it does, but you'll need to get the extra cable (2.5mm to micro-usb sony proprietary connector, made by Vello)

Hey Eric fellow Canadian here. Love the channel as well all your social media platforms! I’ll be order some tubes from you shortly! Wondering if you could help me I just got a pair of Yongnuo RF-603 II C1 for my Eos R6 and in Trx mode I can focus and trigger the cameras shutter. I’m just not sure how you like you mentioned “hold” the shutter open when holding the button? Is their something I’m missing? The shutter only opens and closes the length I have it set too on the camera. Thanks in advance!!
@Ericpare
@Ericpare 3 года назад
thanks Matt!!! On the R6, you need to half-press the shutter button on the Yongnuo for at least half a second. Otherwise, you'll get a slight delay before the exposure starts. Try that and let me know if it works :)

@@Ericpare Perfect it worked! I didn't realize that their is a bulb mode knob on the R6 lol. My old 80D didn't have it on the wheel. Thanks man I hope all is well out in Quebec. I hear its been getting crazy there lately. Windsor is still stage 3 for now.

24mm for this one. But check out this video where we explain why we use focal length from 14mm to 800mm: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ctj49RWOTFo.html
