Was it not a replica? I remember reading that the vast majority of the "250 GTOs" in these kinds of events are really well made replicas. Few people would take a real car of that value somewhere other than their front lawn.
@@SafetyLucas Seconded and if I may, Thirded. I dunno if there’s a street version, but there should be and it shouldn’t be much different that what we see there haha.
Great to see so many drivers of rare vintage metal and older open-wheelers really giving it some welly at the turnaround! The grin on the face of the female marshal crossing in front of the camera just after the Ferrari voiced its scream at around 7:35 made me laugh out loud. What an awesome juxtaposition of the chest-beating NASCAR followed immediately by the squealing Fezza... nice bit of editing!
Tyrell decided to test out a 6 wheeler idea at the beginning of the 1976 season, they won the first race but it was shortly banned after. (Pretty sure this is right)
The old timers who owned the expensive ones probably couldn’t drive them worth a damn. Not all of them but I bet that’s the case with these cars that never see the road.
@@redbaron5308 i'm just thinking that replacement parts/repairs is probably a fortune in those, so to go for a donut that some of those cars definitely aren't made to do so seems like a bit of a gamble haha
Its one of my all time bucket list items to conquer my fears of flying and take a trip across the ocean to england one day to attend a festival of speed, france to see a lemans race. Also a trip to germany for the autobahn and nordschleife, preferably to watch the 24h and stay for a touristenfahrten day.
@@michaelj8582 losing traction means losing speed...last thing you want as a pro race driver if you aint no drifter, This is why some hardcore track cars cannot drift without damaging something.
I noticed that most of the drift car drivers entered the circle clockwise while almost all of the other race cars entered counterclockwise... I wonder why that is?
Not really... One of those GTOs won a race at the Goodwood Revival a few years ago, and the driver, Jean-Marc Gounon, proceeded to do donuts on the GTO to celebrate!
