Jon Mackenzie analysing a new Man United signing in the exact way you would expect a Leeds fan forced to sit in front of a framed photograph of Eric Cantona to analyse a new Man United signing.
@@richardc8353 To be fair I enjoy his work as a fellow out of possession appreciator and I value that he has presented somewhat of a counter point to the generally glowing praise Yoro has received. Just thought it was a funny image.
@saucerar7615 for a player that Real Madrid have been watching since he was like 14? Yeah, that's worth the gamble especially under ambitious new co-owners
Love that we get snippets that somewhat resemble the TIFO days, but I still desperately miss the manic, unorganised chaos that was the original. BRING IT BACK!
I’ve been enjoying the slow, restrained descent back into chaos but can’t deny I lived for the old pod. I measured time by Tifo podcast episodes. Whatever they’ve teased at I’m very excited for it
Buying potential is fine but none of these players will ever meet their potential if they don’t play first team football….at least Brighton play them in their first team
Nonesense law tbh, imagine if this existed when Barca signed messi. He’d have never gotten the €100k worth of medical expenses needed to fund his human growth hormone treatment at 13/14. So many players will be stuck developing at second/third class development programmes.
The owners seem to have the anti-Midas touch. They clearly thought "we'll buy young technically gifted players and at worst we'll break even if they don't work out as just being at Chelsea will add value to them. Nothing can go wrong if we sign them to 8 year contracts as that will just mean the value of these stars remains high". They didn't seem to realise that young players might suffer from not being able to adapt to a new country, handle pressure, need experienced players to help them reach their potential or just have general off the field problems that would cause their value to drop. At this point with half the team probably going to mutiny if Enzo comes back they either have to sell him for a huge loss or face losing half the team. They must be pinning all their hopes on selling Cole Palmer to PSG for a ridiculous fee. As you rightly point out this is the kind of thing that happens when a hedge fund thinks of young human beings as assets rather than people
It's because he's an 18yr old that costs 50 mil. It's understandable to say he has high expectations especially bc real Madrid and other clubs wanted him... not everything is a shot at united mate.
I love these guys, it’s just such a shame that JJ needs to immediately start talking about Chelsea’s rampant capitalism. It reminds me that I despise top tier modern football, and grew up spoilt with the idea of equality, where Dundee Utd, Aberdeen, Malmo and Red Star reached (and sometimes won) European finals. Strasbourg were a side Chelsea might’ve met in their Cup Winners’ Cup runs, now they are “owned” by them. It’s just desperately sad.
2:00 glad JJ actually touched on the fact that these series of deals between Chelsea, Villa, Everton etc are all basically just convoluted ways of balancing the books for PSR purposes. Hardly seen any journos mention it
So many conflicting reports on the amount for the transfer of Yoro. I’m gonna believe Romano who says it’s actually €50m fixed with €12m in add ons for a total of €62m.
the potential max prcice with all the add ons is what has to go down on paper obviously as a potential loss, which being utd is a likeley scenario too based on the last decade
Was waiting for Tifo to do a vid on most impressive players of the Euros/Copa who need a big transfer. Kadioglu, Vargas, M. Araujo, Prass, Posch, N. Gonzalez, Embolo, Shaffelburg.
Having watched Onana for a couple of years now I just don't think he's twitchy enough to play as a 6 his size is detrimental and he doesn't have the football intelligence to make up for it like a Rodri does
Ideally you'd want a more senior player to help blood in Yoro (this could have been Varane in a perfect world, but he didn't want to reduce his wages for the amount of minutes he plays by all accounts) but I think a big reason he's come to United is playing time, which no other club can really offer him.
I'm a fussy eater but the other day i tried olives and discovered that i really love them very much. Now i want to test all the olives of the world. Cheers
The Chelsea model seems to be throw enough at a fan and some of it will stick. For now they need to sell players to be able to buy more, but in future they will buy enough players coming in that they will make profit and still have players for their team
Yoro feels like what saliba is to arsenal I remember arsenal signed him and as I recall I was very happy with the signing. I knew he wouldn’t be starting at arsenal and I was relatively happy he was loaned back to ligue 1 to gain more experience; I remember he gave Mbappe a hard time and I think we knew what we were getting. If you can’t tell I am an arsenal fan. But as much as I dislike United, I do feel that they are finally doing the right transfer decisions relatively with the player profiles, but I don’t think paying 60-70 million for a centre back who isn’t even 20 is a bit too much of a gamble, yes he has potential, however he’s also at risk of injury, and based of how uniteds defensive injury crisis went last season, another injury crisis like that and I think it could majorly impact him physically. I must also add that Williams is good, I’d love to see him in the prem, realistically a team like Westham or arsenal would suit him best, he’d be rotated well; given a good amount of minutes and be a crucial player
@@henrybauze2932 kudus went to West Ham from Ajax, ngl but he could’ve joined anyone better. So reality is, Westham ain’t small, the past 5 years they’ve been good. They just fell off this last season but they’ll be back punching for top 8 I reckon
Omari Kellyman will probably end up as a striker, according to JJ Bull. He might as well end up a milkman, for all we care, say Chelsea. He has served his promise.
its a fifa rule that you cant sign players under 18 from a different country. with only very few and strict exceptions. its why chelsea back in the day got the transfer ban for example becuase they signed bertrand traore when he was under the age of 18
I thought they were supposed to be limiting the amount of players teams could have out on loan to prevent the sort of young player hoarding that Chelsea and others are doing.
Onana isn't replacing Douglas Luiz, that role will be covered by one of McGinn, Barkley, Tielemans or potentially Barranechea. Onana is replacing Kamara who's out with an ACL and was Villa's main defensive MF, and the two will likely compete for thay spot once Kamara is fit
They're apparently looking to buy a club in liga nos but also like the person above me said they can also simply loan players to clubs they don't own so idk if that's really that much of an issue.
I know they can loan to whichever club they want and I know in reality Strasbourg can’t fix all of Chelsea’s over staffing problems, but the message in videos or pieces like these is that “it’s okay that they’ve gone mad and bought 100 players because they’ve sold it to the players that they will get games in the wider network of clubs”. JJ said it himself after introducing 5 forward players Chelsea had bought all of whom now need games. Those 5 didn’t include the other half dozen forwards already on the fringe of the squad while they continue to look to buy a striker (Broja, Jackson, Mudryk, etc.). Chelsea had tried this tactic of buying up all the world’s young talent and farming them out on load for 15+ years yet Abramovic lost £100m / year on average across his ownership of the club. Boeley and co are doing the same tactic but being talked about like geniuses because they happen to also own a few other small clubs (ask Vitesse how that went for them btw)
@@FishFighterFred firstly. It's irrelevant what the media say about clearlake. Secondly, Roman never ran the club as a business. It was a toy to him and he didn't care how much money he lost. He ran it on a much higher wage bill which is the majority of a clubs outgoings. Funny how that never gets talked about. People also seem to forget that Chelsea sell as many players as they buy. Players join to be part of a big club. If they're good enough they will play for Chelsea. If not, they will play on loan or be sold and go elsewhere. Just like every other club on earth. Chelsea just do it on a bigger scale than most. Try not to be too salty about it.
Fantastic insight on the yoro deal. Great work there Dave. For me this is the deal of the summer (Yoro) is there anymore insight to the conversations that were had to convince him of the move. Would really love to listen to an in depth podcast on this if you are going to be doing one.
Everyone's talking about how the newly promoted teams all got relegated last season, but nobody's talking about how none of them did the year before It's not that bad calm down
I instantly started nodding when you said Williams to Arsenal, I think that would be a great move for him. I also hope people relax about Yoro for the next couple of seasons, he's a boy at the end of the day.
inittt 52 million quid for a player widely regarded as a generational talent isn't too shabby if he does fulfill his potential no doubt his value will double
What Chelsea are doing is not illegal, but absolutely wrong. This club just find new obscene ways to go about making money. This is my major problem with having American owners.
@@clydejohngeorge4535 I can tell you development is bollocks since none of these players are developed by Chelsea and even worse is the transfer market of scouts dominates the development in elite youth.
@@stnbch3025 they have among the most productive academies in all of world football. Former academy players in 12 current prem teams I can think of and plenty in fairly big European teams.
They spoke about Archie Gray in a previous video. These are latest transfers. Moreover, we aren't necessarily buying like Chelsea are. Most of our excellent prospects are from our own academy.
