One would be doing themselves a disservice by watching this in lieu of reading the 20min story. The latter is packed with so much more nuance than this film could ever even hope to convey
@AbecedariusRex The banker is played by Robert Prosky. Probably best known for his work on "Hill Street Blues",but he's done a ton of stuff and is usually very good. Glad you enjoyed the post.
Thanks for posting this. Great short story and a good rendition here. How does it change the story that the actors are older? (in Checkov's work they're young men) I forget the actor's name who plays the banker but he's quite good. He plays the judge in Redford's "The Natural".
