@@joshuagibson8703 It's extremely easy to see. Every word out of Furtick's mouth is so that you can feel better about yourself knowing that God is your starter Pokemon. Scripture is entirely about how absolutely wretched we are. How even our best intentions result in failures and our own thoughts lead us into false theology. We don't know how to be good Christ followers. And yet God allows us to seek relationship with him because of the Gospel. That's it. John asked Jesus if he was gonna save him from prison and death and Jesus said (paraphrasing), "You'd better believe in me even when I don't save you." And then John was beheaded. That's scripture but it's not Furtick's teaching. Not ever.
why don't people understand that it's not about us. once people put their faith and trust in Christ, their eternal destiny is secure. No matter the evil we face on a daily basis and the mistakes we make we are made righteous and holy through God himself. It's not about us, it's about him once we are saved we are secure in that promise. God doesn't go back on his promises. Even our faith and trust in Christ is from God. I don't understand the doctrine of election and why it says that he desires all people to be saved. maybe he desires all people to be saved but he elects those he knows that will follow him.
Nor was the story of David about David, but about God! It was Christ too who conquered David's giant!! David is not the hero in the story, but God! I believe we can desire to be like David too rather than those trembling in fear. Being David doesn't mean being the hero -- it means repenting of our sins, walking in faith and obedience to face wickedness and unrighteousness, trusting in God's power and victory! God is the hero in our stories and in David's story. I think seeing yourself in the story of David is a desirable thing, but anyone who thinks David is the hero rather than Christ is getting it wrong! Just like Gideon shows us - he thought himself to be weak and God calls him a "mighty man of valor" -- not because of what comes out of his own strength but because he was both called and equipped by God! Even in the end of the story of Gideon when the Israelites wish to name him king, Gideon says no and that it was God who brought the victory and so He will rule over Israel. We too can see Gideon as a brother in the faith and learn from his story. Gideon wasn't the hero, but God used him and allowed him to share in authority/dominion as He does for us -- it all comes from the power, anointing, and perfect plan of God!

Eh, kinda? In the sense that we get used by God for His purposes, I can see where you're coming from. But God only used Himself, Jesus, to slay death. If anything, mankind was the slingshot that sent Jesus to be crucified to make that happen.
"Grace" was for the man of Israel being delivered from flesh-dependency. The man of Israel needed God's sufficiency (Grace) to meet his insufficiency (flesh-dependency) in fulfilling the works of the Law of Moses. Once he realized his intrinsic union with God sufficiency through the Spirit, then he no longer needed "Grace". That was his journey, not ours. We should learn from it.

The Hebrew Scripture (aka Bible) was never about us, it is about ancient Israel. It is THEIR journey out of a "flesh-dependency" mindset "in Adam" with its age-ending spiritual insufficiency, TO "Spirit-dependency" mindset "in Christ", with its everlasting spiritual sufficiency. That journey is not ours but we should learn from it.
So what does it mean to glorify God? What does glory do for him? Did he create us solely to worship him? Moses 1:39 For behold, this is my work and my glory-to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man. Every scripture you rattled off means little without an understanding of the source, substance, and effect of that glory.
Imagine thinking a book written 1800 years after the rest of scripture by a self proclaimed prophet is scripture despite the Bible warning against false prophets and false teaching.
