An excerpt taken from the Q&A section of the 2014 National Conference with Voddie Baucham, Stephen Nichols, R.C. Sproul, R.C. Sproul Jr., and Derek Thomas.
i remember pastor John's Macarthur's sermon on God's holiness. A sovereign, all powerful, eternal, holy Being who knew no sin and could never taste any kind of physical and emotional damage His entire life from eternity past to future came down to earth on His own free will.. only to be tormented, laughed at, scorned and killed for our very sins. Until today, the magnitude of His holiness is still incomprehensible to me.
That’s powerful Man !!and after that what does man do? They marry each other dress in woman’s clothing stop prayer in schools and behave worse than sodom that’s the thanks we give for the price He paid . The grace He shows us is incomprehensible but so too will be His wrath on the day of judgement
This demonstrated the passion Sproul had for the holiness of God. It was such an important topic for the man. His intensity will be missed. He is now worshipping in the bosom of our great God and Saviour.
When we realize how holy God is, and when we realize how wicked we all are, it should come as a complete shock to us that this holy and righteous God can know what we did, and said, and thought on yesterday, and not kill us in our sleep last night.
1st God doesn’t make sin, he ALLOWS rebellion as a loving God and doesn’t damn us all to Hell for rebelling. Free will. 2nd There are things worse than death. When people are tortured and murdered understand that Gods punishment can be more severe. Good luck, may God direct you to Him.
Viera Chua "170221dn ..... then did hitler create Heavens and earth? did he create all living and non living?" That is not an answer to my question. If what we consider to be the atrocities commited by Hitler were merely copies of actions god undertook surely Hitler must be pure and holy too. "did hitler create Adam and eve?" Not answering my question.... "did Hitler send his begotten son to die for our sin? " Hitler didn''t create sin. He also never threatened anyone with eternal torture. Also not answering my question. " You comparing hitler to Him the beginning and the end?" Yes, me comparing Hitlers actions to theose of the god of the bible. "Stop using all these stupid comparison to bring ur point across because it leads to nowhere!" Answer me please, was your god being pure and holy when he committed and ordered genocides? " And if u really wanna compare, pls compare with full research and full points, and not just partial truth! " Are you calling me a liar? Have you read the bible? Would you like me to give you scripture references for the genocide, torture murder slavery etc in it? "You simply do what the serpent do, half truth, partial truth!" I can give you a lesson on the full truth in the bible if you wish. Have you actually read ALL of the bible?
TheWildThorn "1st God doesn’t make sin," Who made it then? I thought god created everything? "he ALLOWS rebellion as a loving God and doesn’t damn us all to Hell for rebelling." that is EXACTLY what he does. "2nd There are things worse than death" name one thing worse than death that exists? "When people are tortured and murdered understand that Gods punishment can be more severe. " Proof please. Also if I tortured two million people and murdered three million and repented on my death bed would there be a punishment?
My GOD in Heaven have mercy on my wretched self. His answer brought tears to my eyes as I stated the same. What's wrong with us? we're human and sinners. But it grips me when I hear people ask a question such as this!
100%. I love that man. We think too much of ourselves and too little of God. The church needs to wake up and understand who we truly are- wretched hell deserving sinners at the mercy of an all powerful, holy and eternal God. We need to be thankful to God for all the mercies and benefits that He bestows upon us, yet always knowing it is for His names sake, and His glory not ours that He does this (Ezekiel 36:22 and 32)
I love this clip because you can see R C was flabbergasted that believers would have this notion that depraved, wicked man would think his punishment is too severe for being the wicked lawbreaker he is (1 John 3:4, Romans 3:10-18, James 2:10, Ephesians 2:1-3, Jeremiah 17:9, etc.). The question presented has the same presupposition that many non-reformed believers bring to the table; why is God so "hard" or "mad?" Dr. Sproul rightly asked, "What's wrong with you people?" We need to be renewing our minds day to day (Romans 12:1-2) to understand the wondrous, absolute attributes of God and the totally depraved nature of man to bask in the grace, mercy, and love of Jesus Christ's death and resurrection for sins.
People will say "no no my grandad is sweet old man never harmed anyone.....how can anyone see him as bad....so what he didn't know God.....he knew his family....and isn't that most important....."
@Steven Irizarry Your complaint is already addressed, asked, and answered in Romans 9:19-24. Your best answer to your complaint is right in scripture, so I lovingly suggest you prayerfully study it and know God is God and God is good.
@Steven Irizarry Again, the answer is in scripture. God elects us unto salvation; He chose us in Christ before the foundation of the world (Ephesians 1:4), which means He did it before He created anything in Genesis 1:1. So by definition, the non-elect are unsaved people. And no, unsaved people don't want to genuinely be saved due to their wicked nature of sin. This is what the Bible says about the unsaved world (this is scripture, not my opinion): Romans 3:10-20 A) There is none righteous B) There is none that understands C) There is no one that seeks after God D) All are unprofitable E) There is none that does good F) They have wicked, deceitful mouths G) They’re murderers H) Their ways are destructive and miserable I) They don’t know the way of peace J) They have no fear of God K) They are all guilty before God L) Nothing they do justifies them before God Ephesians 2:1-3 A) Spiritually dead B) Walking according to the world (which is according to Satan) C) Lusts/desires of the flesh and mind dictate their lives D) Children of disobedience E) Children of wrath Jeremiah 17:9 A) Deceitful heart B) Desperately wicked heart John 15:18-23 A) They hate Christ B) They hate Christians C) They hate God the Father John 3:18-19 A) Condemned already B) Loves darkness instead of light C) Their deeds are evil Romans 8:7-8 A) The carnal mind is at enmity against God (The Greek word for enmity means hostility or opposition) B) Those in the flesh can’t please God (The Greek word for flesh is sarx, which literally means the skin, but in other contexts, as with these verses, means the carnal, human nature) 1 Corinthians 2:4 A) Can’t receive the Spiritual things of God B) Can’t know the Spiritual things of God Romans 1:21 A) They don’t glorify God B) They are not thankful to God C) They are vain in their imaginations D) They have darkened, foolish hearts Proverbs 14:12 A) Man’s ways seem right to him B) The end of man’s ways is death Romans 3:23 A) All have sinned (there is no exception as it pertains to Jew or Gentile) B) All come short of the glory of God When you meditate on this list describing mankind’s nature, you understand the depths of man’s depravity. 1 John 3:4 defines sin as the transgression (or breaking of God’s law). This is more than action, it is also thoughts or words. Jesus Himself said whosoever commits sin is a slave to it (John 8:34). Sin is more than just action (a verb), it is our very nature (a noun). And because of it, if they are not chosen by God, then they will never genuinely want to be saved by the grace of God because they hate God and love themselves more. The questions you asked are answered in scripture, not my opinion. Now unless every verse I referenced with the interpretation is incorrect (which has to be shown by content, context, and grammar), then I stand by my answer.
I often think of Ananias and Sapphira and wonder why God hasn’t dealt with me with the same severity. It stories like that stops my heart from taking the grace of God for granted. Jesus is loving and merciful and has the authority to stop my heart in an instant.
It was God's amazing mercy that God didn't let us live forever separated from Him, but instead blocked the way to the tree of life and sent them away from the garden so that He could redeem and restore, so that we could be with Him for eternity NOT stuck with our son and the pain that comes with it.

Came back to this video after hearing of Dr. Sproul’s passing. Such a faithful servant who has enriched so many lives. Sobering to think that now he is face to face with his Lord.
@Dd S Well, those "grounds" are your home, and the closest I've come near them is by replying to your stupid comment. Your statements are as pathetic as both your grammar and word choice. Idiots like you think they can just spam the entire comment section with incoherent rants. R.C. Sproul is completely above your intellectual capacity and intelligence. May Jesus have mercy on you so that you might actually become productive in your life and stop bashing Godly men.
“We were simply out of harmony with our environments. The curse of death was upon us, and God send us out to till the ground which He had likewise cursed” (Gen.3:17). “Did God show you mercy and kindness and give promise of a Redeemer for you?” “Surely He did, and gave us proofs of His love toward us in the garments He gave us to cover our shame” (Gen.3:21). “Did this signify anything to you then as an offering made by blood for sin?” “God fully explained to us the conditions of pardon. This we taught to our children and Cain knew it full well as did Abel, but Cain did not believe. . .” - Adam
Rc had a way of teaching the Word with passion and zeal and power! Thanks be to God for working in him to bring glory and honor to his name. He hit the nail on the head with the holiness of God and just how merciful God was to Adam.

I saw this "What's wrong with you people" meme and it lead me to this video. Through this, God showed me that His grace had already manifested as early as Adam and Eve bit of the forbidden fruit. Praise God
Amen Brother Sproul. WHO is GOD?? and WHO are we sinner dirt bags to defy the Most HIGH? AMEN!! PREACH!! What a wonderful teacher,RC is no longer here he's in heaven now,but his teachings live on,I am so happy I was introduced to him by a brother in Christ, and his teachings have helped me to know and love my Savior more and more everyday....
I strongly dislike that "What's Wrong With You People" has been turned into a funny meme and gif these days. I think it's actually distasteful and borderline mockery. If only those who find it funny would realize the serious context in which R.C. spoke it.
170221dn not exactly. Sin penetrated the nature of main through Adam. Once Adam had Cain and Able there inherited that sin, imagine that sin is so potent that it hardcodes itself into your genetics permanently staining every future generation
@@bobbyq2 All nations before him are as nothing; and they are counted to him less than nothing, and vanity. Isaiah 40:17 - www.biblegateway.com/passage?search=Isaiah%2040:17&version=KJV
I knew that, but the way he said ‘what’s wrong with you people’ hit me hard!! Praise be to the merciful God!!! Wretched individual that I am!! Gods everloving mercy is great toward me!
I believe Sproul did not understand the question right. I believe the very reason why the question included the notion of why the punishment was so severe is EXACTLY because the punishment for Adam's tasting the knowledge was EVERLASTING HELL. People go to HELL after they die, don't they? Why do they go there? When did this begin to happen? and the answer is after Adam tasted the fruit of knowledge.
So then I would have asked you .... 'Why didn't God perish Adam right then and there. End him. Do not allow for any further perpetration of sin. But then again, God is God. I am dust. By His infinite wisdom all things work together ....
@@orlandiniyeah7460 trolling pretending to not believe in someoen you are obsesssed with yeah thats stupid alright if you end up in hell you will have to chew on that for all eternity
Read the book of Adam and Eve, the evil angels kept attacking Adam and Eve long after they left Eden. Eve was who tempted Adam btw, not the serpent. AWALT.
@Steven Irizarry but that doesn't mean God made them fall. That would mean that God is the author of sin, contradicting scripture. But in His foreknowledge He knew the consequence.. therefore the lamb was chosen before the creation of the world. We don't really understand as humans, the glory and mind of God. But we sure can take a look at what God has revealed to us in scripture. God bless you my friend.
@Steven Irizarry and God revealed His greatest gift through the fall of man😃🙏...What the devil meant for evil, God brought about His redemptive work. Amen
The punishment was not inflicted by god but by Adam and eve themselves by not obeying the commandment. They were warned they will die and they still went and did it.You can tell a child not to play with matches and he gets burn he will have to deal with the consequences if he does not listen.God told them out of love not to do something that will bring harm to them they punish themselves...
Did it ever occur to these preachers that, perhaps one of the purposes of the cross was to demonstrate that God understands what it's like to give a sacrifice?
What's wrong is R C's answer is wrong. Man was deceived. 2nd Corinthians 11:3 "But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ." 1st Peter 2:14 And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression." Big difference between deceived and defy. Man did not defy God until after the fall. What's wrong is R C's arrogance in chastising the people when he himself does not understand scripture. What's wrong is all the people who praise R C and his answer and not know the answer he gave is wrong. DECEIVED not DEFIED. Read/study your bible.
Actually your answer proves the opposite. If Eve was deceived and Adam was not, then what was Adams action when he partook? Eve partook under deception, Adam did it knowingly and without deception. That's defiance! There is a train of thought that Adam did it willingly to share in Eves fate. That is still no excuse though because he should not have disobeyed God for the sake of the woman, but it is a possibility. Love may have been in action here and love is an attribute of God. Adam should have loved God more than the woman though. Hence the greatest commandment; Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
Provide scripture to support your answer. "There is a train of thought that Adam did it willingly to share in Eves fate" is opinion. SCRIPTURE SAYS DECEIVED!!! @@888WulfDog888
Provide the verse/verses that clearly and plainly says Adam defied God by eating. "There is a train of thought that Adam did it willingly to share in Eves fate" is opinion. We don't know why Adam ate. Scriptures simply says he ate. Was Adam also deceived by the serpent? Did the woman talk Adam into eating? Did the woman after her eyes were opened deceive Adam into eating? Did the woman and the serpent together deceive Adam into eating? We don't know. Scripture simply says he ate. There is no verse to support RC's answer therefor his answer was opinion.@@888WulfDog888
Well, if the Old Testament is to be believed, this 'God' is the greatest mass murderer in history, so I would say there is infinite room for improvement. Not that a buffoon like you would ever listen to reason.

Truth. I think, especially in these times, it can only by found in the Word of God. I pray that we I continue to be given the eyes to see and the ears to hear through my faith in our Lord and Savior. Lord, fill me with the Holy Spirit so that I may glorify your name with all I think, say and do. His will, not mine.
God is Holy and God cannot tolerate sin. He must judge sin because sin is evil. This is the truth about God that most people always seem to forget. But he gave his Son to be the way for us to come back to him. It took God's only Son, who knew no sin, to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. That's how God showed his love and mercy to us.
We were sovereignly and unchangeably decreed to be this way, RC. That's what's wrong with us. That question was sovereignly and unchangeably decreed to be asked.
+Michael I can tell you why but the chances are that like most religitards, you have a nasty little habit of not listening. He was asked why a God who is supposedly slow to anger and patient poured out such long lasting wrath and punishment upon mankind. Anyone with a few functioning brain cells can see the contradiction. Sproul, however, has shit for brains. The question angers him (because he can't fucking answer it) and like a true 'Christian' coward, he avoids it and his response is tantamount to saying "how dare anyone question God". With laughable irony, he goes on to say "what's wrong with you people?" and inadvertently tells the truth by saying "we don't know who God is". I await a cliché ridden, hypocritical, excuse filled, moronic response.
+Charles J. Easley II Your little special needs brain clearly doesn't realise that I fully explained how Sproul made a fool of himself. Read the comment again, you little spacker!
An American friend of mine, said RC Sproul - He got a little bit fundamentalist towards the end of his life, as if that was a bad thing? The way things are headed we’re gonna need more fundamentalists... Because the watering down of God’s word is widespread! We need more men like this! Let’s get back to the fundamentals
