Named after the group's founder, Herbert "Whitey" White. As for the "Lindy Hoppers" part? The group was actually made up of the very Savoy Ballroom dancers who invented the Lindy Hop in the first place.

"The Big Apple Contest" by Solomon Douglas. They do it to Lionel Hampton's "Flying Home" in the Midwest.

+PockASqueeno You asked for the name of the song. That's the name of the song and the easiest version to find is the Solomon Douglas version. My lindy hop club does this dance once a month at our weekly dance.
