Great idea to grow it out. Been watching your videos for a few years now. I always get to about 4-5 months then cut it back. I’m gonna join you in the grow-it-out journey and shoot for at least 6 months. Mine’s getting a bit gray now at 44. But I like the beard and shaved head look. Thanks for all the great content. Cheers to the beard!

Greg your beard videos are always so helpful. I always kept my beard trimmed very short until a couple years ago when I decided to let it grow. It was at its longest a few weeks ago, about 7 inches from chin. I had to shave it for work which was a mistake since it was not mandatory. Now I am on the journey of growing it back. Maybe not as long since my wife doesn’t care for it too long but I agree something about the bigger beard is really satisfying and more fun. I feel like a medium beard length is my happy place!

That's awesome Greg and great video. Funny part when you said you You can't come under my beard for shade lol. By the way I'm in the same position period I'm looking to grow the yeard too but I don't know what will happen as my journey continues. I messed up about 6 or 7 months ago when I was trimming the sides and botched it up and ended up taking it all off. I was loving my beard back then. It was my favorite just like it is in my profile picture. By the way I'm only 3 weeks in right now but I haven't touched the neck line period I don't care what it looks like at this point.. But the real awkwardness for me is about the 2-3 month period. Anyway, I'm on the journey with you but let's see what happens.

Hey Greg, Just discovered your channel. Great beard info. I'm sure I'll be checking out more of your posts. Like your shaved head with beard look. Think I'll give that look a try. Keep my hair very short anyway, so it won't be that much of a change. My beard is about 2 and half inches from my navel. It's mostly gray now (just turned 60). I do keep the sideburns and definitely the mustache trimmed regularly. Haven't done anything to the length in almost 2 years. It's the longest I've had it since it turned mostly gray. Don't think I'll ever go back to short. It's probably longer than my wife likes, but like you, she doesn't discourage it. The only time she complained is when we were intimate. Thought I was going to have to make a choice, but now she will braid it nice and tight. Problem solved. I have started wearing it that way at other times as well, especially when riding my motorcycle. I say go for the big beard.

On a slight tangent to the main subject, I hope no one watching this content would allow their wife / girlfriend to "prohibit" him from growing out their beard to whatever length they wish. Shoe on the other foot, what do you think the result would be if a man tried to "prohibit" a woman in an LTR from growing/cutting her hair to her personal, specific, desired length (long or short), coloring it, etc? He would be branded an insecure, controlling, narcissistic misogynist of epic proportions. Men, let's be consistent in the context of performing masculine rights/rituals/practices and holding frame enough to keep them under our own control. While she may at some level have a preference, if she respects you as a man, loves and is devoted to you in life, she will not attempt to control this (or any other) aspect of things that lay solidly in the realm of the masculine. 8f, on the other hand, she becomes a constant state of annoyance about these things, then she is not for you.

The short answer: avoid over-trimming and make sure to use good beard products to help control it. In the end, some of it depends on what your beard goals are and how long you want it.

I keep growing my beard out for 3 months and then scaling it back down on the sides. I have a really curly beard, so it doesn't grow straight down like yours. I like to have the goatee/moustache thicker/longer than the rest of the beard nowadays. It seems more manageable to me that way.
