The Rona brought me here! I've been thinking about transitioning for a long time and currently in a long stretch between my last relaxer. Today marks 20 weeks since my last one. I want to keep it going but I have to tell you the struggle has been real! Thank you for sharing your story it gives me hope and seeing your beautiful natural tells me the journey is worth it.

I've transitioned twice in my adult life. I would say at 5 months post relaxer I folded the first time lol. I'm currently 4yrs post and it's been a journey. I just found a regimen that works for me lbvs

I'm transitioning out as well and August will be two years for me! So excited to see this video. (New subscriber.) I didn't know about overlapping, stretching, or regimens as I got older. I've learned so much in the past (almost) two years of my hair journey. Thank you for taking the time to share your story/journey.

I’ve been transitioning for about two years too and I find this so refreshing. I plan to chop off my relaxed ends soon! I feel like it never grows past a certain length and I’m running into heat damage or some other set back. I do want to see how the full natural journey would be for me. I’ve basically always been relaxed or in a transitioning phase. I felt this!

A type 4 life saver I learned while transitioning is that TWIST are your best friends. I shampoo while my hair is in twist, I pre poo in twist, I deep condition in twist, and I leave my hair in twist if I do that plan styling my hair in some type of way or not. These things help speed up my wash day routine and I highly recommend these things to you so you want have to keep detangling your hair😊❤️💕
@Shaaanelle
@Shaaanelle 4 года назад
Keosha Davis ive tried twists and they always come out. Lol. I like to just braid it in plaits instead. I may try twists again but I cannot wash with twists, lol. ♥️
@kld6
@kld6 4 года назад
@@Shaaanelle ok I understand, I actually like it when some of the twist unravel I didn't think of it as a problem for some my bad😅 Braids should work the same maybe even better, I might try it out my self! 💕
@Shaaanelle
@Shaaanelle 4 года назад
Keosha Davis I think it also has to be with my hair being so thick that at the ends it’s blunt, lol. So there’s just a thick clump at the bottom of my twist instead of that cute little finger coil. I’m sure my hair will grow out of it eventually. Thank you for your advice and help tho! ♥️

Awh. Well it’s been almost 5 years since my last relaxer and 3 years since this video. I always cut my hair straightened instead of curly. It’s been going well so far! I’ve dyed it, chopped that off, and some more! If you want to explore more of my journey, you can start with my hair journey playlist! Could you please give tips on how u took care of ur hair and moisturized it, I’m 3-4 months in transitioning and it is a STRUUUUUGGLE. Btw, your hair look so beautiful 😭
@Shaaanelle
@Shaaanelle 4 года назад
Deep conditioning!! Also you’ll have to try to see which products work for your hair. Does it feel like it’s sitting on top or does it feel hydrated from the inside out? The more moisture (water content) you give your hair the better off it will be. So yes, deep condition frequently. ♥️
@Nominaze
@Nominaze 4 года назад
Shaaanelle Okay, thank you! I sometimes deep condition. When I add Jamaican black caster oil to my head it sits on top of it, so now I’ve been using olive oil, and my head itches A LOT. I feel like I should use peppermint oil to help my scalp. But I’m also looking for oils that help grow ur hair without it sitting on top of ur head, and trying to find leave in conditioners and creams is hard. But I thank you for this❤️

I'm so happy for you your hair is beautiful. I'm relaxed and have no interest in going nateral but my daughter is she is mixed and had me cut off her relaxed hair 5years ago and her hair is now just a little above her waist curly and to her but straight. So you keep going and enjoy your nateral hair. I love the look of nateral hair it's quite lovely just not for me.

Hi, You have beautiful hair and it will grow long if you stick to a simple hair routine. As per trimming your ends, see what your hair needs and go with it. If you're using no heat or low heat as a natural, you may or may not need as many trims as you would do if relaxed. Every 6 months trims works as good. The key for me has been low manipulation hair styles, avoiding tight buns at nap and sealing my ends with a good butter. Also, cgx conditioner with aloe vera/ peppermint has been good in helping manage my hair. I would shampoo, do all treatments that I want and use the conditioner last to direct my hair the way I would want it and detangle it.
@Shaaanelle
@Shaaanelle 4 года назад
Colette Nsatu nice!! Thanks for all of the tips!! So far I think I’m gonna trim every 13/14 weeks. I’m coming up on it so I’m just gonna see what my hair looks like and determine whether I need to keep with that or increase or decrease my trims. Not gonna lie, I recently ran into an issue where I was taking out my braids and it got so tangled! I was tired as heck and just ripped it! Smh now I don’t wanna do protective styles with added hair anymore 😫😂😂😂. Thank you again! I can’t wait for it to just be super long! ♥️

I’m back again, when I got the big chop, I didn’t like my hair because I was so used to relaxed hair and that if it wasn’t straight I didn’t look good. I still have moments where I question myself about my natural hair yet at the same time it become stronger and healthier. When it was relaxed, my hair was shedding, I had a bald sot from wearing half wigs. My hair was damaged from over relaxing, and lapping. But through it all, I want healthy hair .

you need to do the porosity test on clarified hair becaus the masks etc you used before doing the test have oils in them. since oil repels water your hair is going to float.

LIVE LISHA thank you! I tried it on a few different strands. So I used a strand before I washed my hair, after I washed it and before deep conditioner and again after the entire washing process. Porosity is so tricky, lol. But I think I know about where my hair stands. I like to just try different things and see what’s working and what’s not. Thank you again! ♥️

Why go natural if you going to be frying your hair.? I think some people just jump the wagon on going natural, they are really not ready for it at all.
@s.houston3498
@s.houston3498 4 года назад
I’m struggling with going natural. I’ve been relaxed since 12 and I’m 31 now. The only reason I’m considering natural is because of pregnancy in the future. When I watch these 4c RU-vidrs. I honestly don’t like the way it looks. Now some looks better then others but then they put a weave/wig in It and call it “protective” isn’t it just as much as “self hate to wear weaves?” Most black girls are more concerned with what we put in our heads then bodies. Relaxers have chemicals but so does your food. I’ve always had healthy long down my back thick hair (think Kenya Moore) and it will only be worse when I go natural. My job requires my hair to be tamed. Can you relax while preggers? My mom did. I’m so confused.
@Shaaanelle

My mom didn’t relax it during pregnancy and I have never heard of anyone who did. It’s very dangerous. Please think about it. Your hair is beautiful the way it is. If you don’t like it natural, you can decide it a while after you give birth. God bless you
