I recently got an easy flow rechargeable fuel transfer pump for the ski. Pumps 11L per minute. No more lifting fuel cans and no spills. Highly recommend it.
Informative. Thanks for posting. Good to know about your experience with the fuel tank. I often have 25 to 30L left when the low fuel alert goes off. First time it happened I drove back to boat ramp so slowly thinking I was about to run out.
Exactly my experience the first time too! I had switched from the economical VX Yamaha, expected a little more consumption, but it gave me a shock when 30km from the ramp with the fuel alarm sounding! The fuel alarm goes off way too early so I was concerned I would get stranded and went home! But when I filled it up again I found I had at least half a tank left! Thanks for watching and commenting.
That was a good comprehensive run down of your preparation. Be good to see the next instalments. Liked your opinion on the original rod/reel setup. Have you done a piece on the knot to type leader to braid ?
Hi Douger, thanks. I am planning a more comprehensive rod/reel video as I have put a lot of hours into working out the kit I carry for the various types of fishing we do here. It’s a little hard to shoot these on your own though.. I’ll do something in the coming weeks. The braid to leader knot videos are all over RU-vid and I looked at many before settling on doing Albright knots plus a “double” on the braid. I had a snag just the other day on my jig rod that was really really hard to break off my 40lb braid and 50lb leader. Finally broke after much effort right at the hook! Shows the strength of the connection if tied well.
Hey buddy good info I fly my drone from my ski and i know what you mean about trying to retrieve it in the swell I have the dji mini and attached the feet to it and then tied some mono to the feet so i can now just bring it back as normal and grab the mono line and hold it while holding down the joystick to land soo much easier especially when the skis rocking side to side 😂
Great tips Rix! I guess I'd be worried about the mono somehow flying up and getting wrapped in the props! Any mishaps? Hehe, it certainly gets the heart pumping! Thanks for watching. I did manage to use the drone briefly when I went out the day after shooting this. Watch for the next video!
@@Jetcast nah no mishaps at all It’s tied to both landing feet like a U shape so it’s like a handle and made it long enough to grab but not long enough to reach props 👍
Hey mate, love your content, I am in SEQ and just purchased a fishpro with tubbies. I'm trying to find a live bait net to fit in the yellow tubby live bait tank. Where did you get yours?
Great content as always Paul Was thinking about getting the long range tank put on my FXHO 21 model, does the extra weight change the ride much when full? Like dip the nose down etc? been waiting 6 months for tubbies and apparently another 6 months away so slowly getting it set up for when they come in..
I don’t really notice the added weight. It sits right on top of the standard tank so if anything it would just be the start of the day it is adding weight -when I fill it that means I’m expecting at long travel to the fishing grounds, so likely to have used 15 litres or more by then. Putting another person on the ski or a high centre of gravity rear cooler rig is far more noticeable in handling and stability changes. Don’t overthink this one. The added tank is very handy, I fill it often, and I never need to carry fuel cans. Expensive add-on because they’re hand made, but anything boating related is bloody expensive! But I think it’s the peace of mind when doing the long trips that makes it money well spent.
