Thanks Douger. For fishing gear, there's generally no wrong way to do things, just choices. But for us safety is not something to mess around with as we go a long way from shore. Hope you got something from it.

That’s an awesome video Paul & Fred, it was very informative & passing on your experiences as to why you guys have things for different situations. I’ve only been out on my ski a few times & tend to carry a whole tackle shop worth of gear, it puts loads of weight on the ski & Tubby’s & I never really use most of it - so that is going to change!!! I laughed at Fred’s bogg roll BUT I’ve been there so that’s definitely an addition to my ski, you guys have thought about what’s needed & simplified it & I’m going to change a few things. Thanks for sharing this video

No worries mate! We really appreciate your comments. I too was very surprised when Fred told the world about his bathroom habits, but got to say that it happens to the best of us some days! Re: the gear, I use to take a lot more myself but had water in some tackle boxes on a few occasions so now tend to take far less! BTW, as a comparison, my next video coming out shows a Fish Pro on steroids! Almost everything possible including Tubbies and trolling motor, but it all has a purpose, so look out for that video!

@@Jetcast ..looking forward to this as well. If you can’t fish the next best thing is gear reviews. Even though fishing tackle is a personal choice it would be good to see a run down of the rod/ reels you found to be most useful. When I get my wave runner I’ll have a big order from GC in NZ with his gear and a visit to shoreline tubbies.

Working on the rod/reel video. Have shot some but not happy with it, so might do it again…

Thank you ....great subject....and fantastic having two sets of experiences and choices ....I am new to the whole Idea of Jetski fishing, and found two issues that I hope to solve, one is as you said, hats blowing off, and for me who wears glasses is some form of protective over glasses face or eye protection to keep the salt spray off and out of my eyes...I hope to test the face protection in the next week or so when the wind is predicted to moderate in FNQ
@Jetcast
@Jetcast 2 года назад
Thanks Peter. One thing we haven’t covered is eye protection. Personally, I find a good pair of sunglasses (glass not polycarbonate ) with RainX on both sides works well on all but the wettest/roughest days. You can just blow the water off them when splashed, so when riding the wind blows the droplets off for you. Hats, as I said I have a cap for travelling to the spot, my shirts that have face mask built in and can go over your ears, and then the wide brimmed hat (mine is Pelagic brand) with under chin strap for rest of the day. Thanks for watching again! 💪

Super glue when you cut your self badly . Works very well. Put it on two times works the best or tell it stop bleeding.

Great Video! Lots of good information and I definitely see a few items I need to get. A cool video add on would be showing us how you pack all this stuff on the ski. You don't have as much fishing gear as your buddy so seeing each of you do it would be nice. Be safe.

Where I can buy the Tuby in usa
@Jetcast

Hi Roberto. I do not know if anybody is importing them to the US. They are made by Racetech from Durban in South Africa . People who have bought them in countries where they are not sold but them direct and import and fit themselves

Im going to experiment with a small round kayak sail which can be attached to the handle bars or side clips, ive done vast distances under small sail so it might work well to help slowly drift a jetski to shore in an emergency.

Awesome vids Paul ! Just from a safety side of things my understanding is a personal locator beacon are designed for personal use on land and water but they can not be substitute for an EPIRBs ?
@Jetcast
@Jetcast Год назад
Hi Shaun, the PLB is now authorised for use by PWC riders in Australia as it is far safer to have a unit in you than on the watercraft. The law changed about 3 years ago in Australia, but check you local state regulations to confirm. I also understand that the accuracy for a PLB is better then an EPIRB. You just don’t get as long battery life, but most are 48 hrs anyway.

Lol, another question. What type of tether do you use? I see sometimes you have something you wrap around the pole and then you unwrap it.
@Jetcast
@Jetcast 11 месяцев назад
I use two types, a stainless steel type for when I’m traveling and just need to ensure if the rod comes out of the holder it will be secured; the second is when trolling from the front holders, I have a bungee style that I can leave attached until I have picked up the rod when a fish is on. Both available : www.jetcast.au/product-page/quality-bungy-rod-tether. www.jetcast.au/product-page/stainless-fishing-gear-tether

Thank you for sharing all this, im still debating on whether to get jetsky or smaller stabi boat. You gotta carry a lot more than I realized, youll need to tow another boat just carrying all this??
@Jetcast
@Jetcast Год назад
No dramas. It can be daunting but as I always say, we all tend to overthink things sometimes. You’re better off taking a step forward than none at all. You don’t have to carry everything straight up. Keep it simple, then slowly add things to allow you to take advantage of the conditions in the day! Good luck !

I fish salmon in the NW USA in deep water with tons of current and I'm trying to figure out a down rigger for the PWC. Fred had a weight set up to a line. Is he just clipping on to it and lowering the weight? Then he leaves it in the water while he fights the fish? I've lost a lot of fish wrapping the line around the down rigger cable if I dont bring it up before the fish. Any good ideas? Thanks for all the information on your channel seems like AUS and NZ are way ahead of the USA in PWC fishing. Im Learning a lot from you guys.
@Jetcast
@Jetcast 2 года назад
Hi Chaz. Basically Fred is doing what you said- using a release clip on the lead ball and dropping it over the side. And you’re right, you probably need to lift the ball up first to avoid any mishaps! I have seen a local guy with a Scotty Laketroller Downrigger mounted somehow on the grab handle of a ski. I’d often thought about having one of those put on a mount that I could put in a rod holder and then stow when riding to and from the marks. Thanks for watching. Good luck with the fishing!

Is the battery jumper still needed if you have dual batteries fitted with an isolator?
@Jetcast

Hi Chris, not really but I had one from when I didn’t have dual batteries. So you might as well carry it and as mentioned, it’s come in handy several times for other people!

Hey mate do you ever anchor offshore? I know you do a lot of trolling and I’ve recently wanted to fish a reef that gets super busy here on the Gold Coast and was wondering if its safe to anchor offshore?
@Jetcast
@Jetcast 2 года назад
You can anchor but I don’t like it in anything over 20m deep. Instead I leave the engine running and sit over a spot. Lots of engine hours as a result but you can keep your line vertical. But if you must, bit hard to explain but one day I’ll shoot a video on how to do it. In the meantime, only ever anchor off the front tow point btw or you could flood your ski.
@chrishobbs3935

Tool kit specific to your brand jetski and a paddle?
@Jetcast
@Jetcast 2 года назад
I use to carry a paddle but a ski is so heavy in the water there’s not a lot of forward motion possible. Maybe get you out of the path of a container ship if you break down in a shipping channel I guess, but a call to your friendly Volunteer Marine Rescue might still be in order! Tool kit : good idea but unless you make it to shore, there’s not a lot you can do on the water. But I do have the standard tools that come with the ski in the underseat storage box. Cheers!

For us in America can you refer to the flashlights as a flashlight instead of a torch we think of a torch is all on fire that’s a torch not a flashlight

No worries, but our torch lights don't flash...they just light you up! :)
