The Big Match programme that was broadcast on the 14th December 1974 featuring English football action from Upton Park,Portman Road & Elland Road.. Presented by Brian Moore.
Go a goal down against 9 men 😱 thank christ there was no social media in them days. On the back passing in the first game i must be the only person that wish theyd bring the old rule back. The change after the 1990 WC meant the pitch effectively become shorter and defenders get far less time on the ball - leading to all this boring 'pressing' high up the pitch that teams do now.
Yup, there's no build up into midfield. It's like a Basketball game & tackling looks the same, no one gets stuck in. It's no different to Women's football now. How I enjoy a perfect sliding tackle which now gets you sent off. Boring, I no longer watch it & rely on RU-vid matches including the 90s that was still footy. By about 2005 the pitches & that ball changed into a ridiculous big ping pong ball. The sanitised pitch & that ball has made play much faster, so tackling such as it is, is an afterthought.
Including the studio. A desk, a chair & a 70s style panel behind. A couple of studio lights from above is all you need rather than lightning up a large hall's worth. Save the bleeding planet & our lic fee!
Love that LWT signature tune & immediately a programme will pop up in your head. For me it's the Sweeney, like Anglia TV it's Sale of the Century & someone in a Council house wins a wee speedboat!
i remember sitting as a family on sunday afternoon in our council house...mum cooking dinner...sitting with dad. Innocent, unsophisticated times when you look back.
@@douglasreid7727 back then, we viewed the 19th C Victorian life as a ancient to our 'modern' life, now the Millennials look at the 20th C & our period the same way, from transport to our tellys, "You watched that!" with guffaws🤣🤣🤣. Their time will come!
Agreed. I was just thinking today about the triangular metal bins with 'Walls" ice cream signs and all the wasps in the bin! Also on there council estate I lived on Tonibell ice cream vans and eveyone 'souping' up a car or into banger racing. Now I think of World of Sport with banger racing, showjumping and wrestling..!
