I think to make mobility as useful and wanted by all classes in pve and pvp is to make mobility decrease your hitbox. Obviously it would be scaled different for both pve and pvp. It should give you the feeling of elusiveness in both sandboxes since it's called mobility. And should make it a very desirable stat for all classes. Just my hot take.

It used to increase sprint speed in year 1 but when forsaken droped they removed that side of the mobility stat due to complaints of having to run 100 Mobil all the time

I also have to mention how odd it is to have 100 mobility and stompees on, and still get out run by 3 mobility titans and warlocks

I think if we have stompees, Arc, and 100 mobility, we should run as fast as Warlocks can move on average in a crucible match. Make that shit something you can build into. Right now the only option Hunters have to achieve that speed requires heavy ammo, commiting to the stasis subclass, and committing one aspect to shatterdive. On top of that Shatterskating as an extreme level of situational-ness, you need the exact kind of ledge or you can't do shit.

It’s cause the hunter jump propels you upward while the titan and warlock jump propels more horizontal. Same reason why hunters can use the ceiling to accelerate but the other two can’t, at least not as well. Still pisses me off time to time though, seeing a titan rocket passed me at Mach three

I think a good way to fix this is give each class a 20-50 inherit stat bump in their respective specialty.

Yeah, doing this would also make build crafting easier as you could focus on using the first slot in your armor for other stats. I think 10 or 20 is reasonable, otherwise it’d get out of hand.

I was thinking before I found your comment to just have it for mobility alone but be across all classes. But yours is much better, especially the recent “lean into class identity” trend. So this firs and works wonderfully. The next step is to have the stats scale in percentage instead of tiers of 10. That way X1-9 stat doesn’t just Equal X all the damn time.

Honestly if Bungie leaned a little bit more into the rpg aspect and gave each class an innate bonus to their respective stat ie hunters get plus 10 or 15 mobility automatically and warlocks get recovery etc. It would make it easier for players to not worry so much about it

This might be just me misremembering, I played D1 on launch, didn't every class have an innate passive on Destiny 1's launch? Don't know why but i remember Hunters having a slightly higher crit damage on headshots and with handcannons in general while Titans had an affinity for melee and close range weapons and warlocks for abilities. It might just be me hallucinating though

Edit: To get back on the actual topic though, for some reason I remember classes having a passive ability, not sure why or what, but i have this distinct memory for some reason, i started on the launch of D1 and eventually stopped playing after the Oryx and Crota Raids came out

Yeah, this is annoying. Hunters feel like mud without stomp-ee5 or a lightweight. By the time I get to the choke, even when roof surfing and hitting all the edges of angles to propel me forward like I've spent time practing in private, there's 100% already going to be some icarus dash warlock or titan waiting with a sniper pre-aimed, so I can't beat them to peak.

Hunters have less movement speed because their base kit made them too effective at all content especially pvp. A half competent hunter could be unkillable with higher movement speed since their jump is so effective at disengaging and juking titan and warlock players. Plus in pvp titan and warlock jumps leave you open to be punished while hunter jumps dont due to how explosive and fast they are. It's the exact reason hunters need mobility but it's worthless on titans and warlocks. Because hunter jump is just the outright best pvp jump and unfortunately that makes mobility necessary for pve too.

Buffing mobility is the obvious solution. Rn the only stats I care about as a warlock main as resilience and discipline (and maybe recov if I can afford it). Having mobility give an actual advantage would make it a more fair trade off.

@@ratchetandclankACIT If you can, sure, but a lot of the tripple 100 builds you see sacrifice a lot of mod energy and subclass fragments to get there, which would be more potent then a slightly shorter rift cooldown anyway. If you can get all 3 maxed without concessions absolutely go for it but I wouldn't sacrifice something for it.

As a Hunter main, I tend to make Intellect my dump stat and build my armor mods to grant Super energy for using my other abilities or to create orbs of light. It's not always pretty, but it works.

but thats not how stats distribution on armor works. your INT stat (or rather any of the 3 bottom stats) doesnt influence how high you can get Mobility, Resilience or Recovery

@@sirpr3ce855 I know that; a dump stat is a stat you don't really care how high it is. I'm saying that when I'm building an armor set, I don't worry about how quickly I get my super back; I use mods that will help me get my grenade and melee back when I use them, and then mods that will give me super energy or generate an orb of light/elemental well, to help get my super. Basically, I'm looking for armor that has a good mobility stat and if the intellect happens to be the lowest stat on that piece of armor, then I'm fine with it.

I try run lowest intellect. as I stack hands on and I get my super in 1:30seconds I love superman but I rock skullfort so unlimited melee for it to work 💪

Mobility- 100 Resilience- 100 Recovery- 80 Disapline- 80 Intellect- 20 Strength -80 I took off radiant light +20 strength as I have unlimited shoulder charge with skull fort

I think the biggest issue right now is that mobility provides no defensive bonuses. The difference between t0 and t10 mobility may let you dodge a few shots while strafing, but most enemies have little more difficulty hitting high mobility guardians than low mobility ones. Meanwhile resilience and recovery provide direct survivability as well as the class ability cool down.

finally someone talks about this. i haven’t grinded for armor on my titan/warlock in years. however on my hunter i’m literally always trying to get some ideal armor roll that facilitates some distribution that i’m aiming for, but in reality the distribution is borderline unobtainable without sacrificing something i enjoy

@@clarkkent1616 I actually would LOVE if bungie just 1 time let us build our own armor. I need a minimum of 60 points max. Put 10 in every stat. You have 50 across the board. Masterwork armor now you have 60 across the board, with 0 mods. Now this isn’t counting for 3.0 changes with any give or take but imagine having a base 60 in EVERY stat without mods on. Powerful friends for 80 mobility, radiant light for 80 melee. For me it’s 2 mods into resilience and recovery and 1 into grenade. 80 mobility, 80 resilience, 80 recovery, 70 discipline, 60 intellect, 80 strength. Not counting give or take from 3.0 but I myself think those are good numbers to at least start somewhere.

What if PvE enemies had accuracy that scaled with your mobility? Like if you run T10 mobility, PvE enemies are 30% less accurate at hitting you, similar to Resilience's 30% damage reduction. It makes sense considering mobility is already tied to strafe speed, and it'd effectively fulfill a similar role to the Resilience PvE buff. Then there'd be an actual decision to be made as to what you want to build into.

I have a simple solution, instead of making recovery the rate of which your shield regenerates make it the speed of which your class ability recovers and just make recovery built-in max 10 for all characters then tack on to mobility a handling boost as resilience does for flinching (correct me if I’m wrong on that)

You can definitely dump strength on a hunter 90% of good hunter builds will just get you your melee back instantly or to a degree where it does not matter and that’s what I always do

The only issue would be in pvp, but outside of that, mobility can be ignored on hunter too as most subclasses have an aspect that basically gives the hunter most of the class ability Regen they need.

I am a Titan. It's true that I build into recovery and resilience before anything else but mobility is vital for Peking corners and taking shots at high levels of play. Those who ignore it are easy targets regardless of class.

While I agree with you on the idea its OK in pvp I do not think its comparable. I would take less flinch and effective damage or the ability to get back into fights faster over better peakshotting anyday. Also it is entirely useless in pve I don't think there has ever been a scenario where a warlock or titan has paused mid raid to change to his/her high mobility build. Difference between 0 and 100 mobility at the end of the day just feels like a very slightly smoother experience. At least to me that is.

I agree for pvp it’s important to have some mobility investment. But resil and recov (especially resil) r much more important n pve, which, regardless of what each person personally prefers, is where the majority of players spend the majority of their time bc that’s where the majority of the content exists n this game. Sure it feels nice to b able to peak n and out of cover more quickly, but n reality it has much less tangible effect on one’s ability to complete pve content than the other stats.

Any time I wanna play the more difficult pve content, I much prefer to just use my titan. I know void hunter is powerful bc of invisibility and such. But I hate the playstyle of essentially hiding to survive. I’d rather run around punchin shit and throwing hammers. And I was a hunter main n D1. Loved Gunslinger. But I’m pretty much full crayon eater now. Lol

It's not really a *big* problem, but it is something that's driven me nuts with how armor distribution works that having 100 RES/ MOB is such a pain. On top of that there are a few horizontal jumps which feel like they expect all Hunters to have 100 mobility, and if you don't you simply cannot make it far enough without Stompies or something similar to give you extra movement. Maybe it's a skill issue, but that one jump after Galhran in Duality can suck on deez.

Honestly, it's just practice when it comes to really long jumps IMHO. Jumping earlier than I normally do with most jumps helped me reliably clear that gap with 20-30 mobility. It's still a hard gap relative to most other gaps in the game, but you don't really need that much in the Mobility stat.

Oh my God, YES to OP’s second paragraph. I always run triple jump and AT THE ABSOLUTE MINIMUM 70-80 Mobility, and regardless of how rapidly or spread out (or anywhere in between) I attempt some of these jumps, it is impossible to clear some horizontal gaps as a Hunter without wasting time swapping to a sword and/or putting on those stupid friggin’ boots. There’s a jump in Spire in that big open underground section that kills me every time on Hunter whereas my Titan and Warlock breeze through it without a single thought. And I don’t even run Heat Rises.

That's a very good idea but PvE-wise AE doesn't offer a lot so even if it could be strong for PvP I don't see the benefit of building mob on PvE builds, making mob in the end PvP-focused.

Tbh, the problem with mobility isn’t as bad n pvp tho. Mobility is more of a problem n pve imo bc strafe speed is actually a good thing to go for n pvp. Always has been even n D1. But n pve strafe speed is basically useless compared to the benefits other stats provide. So additional AE imo wouldn’t really solve much. Now if Bungie would finally just tie actual sprint speed into mobility MAYBE that would b enough. But with resil also giving flinch resist now, I think it’s gonna b the most important stat for the rest of time without major changes.

Something else that really sucks is Powerful Friends and Radiant Light are probably losing their +20 stat boosts come Lightfall. Radiant Light gave +20 strength, so it’ll be felt by all classes, but Powerful Friends gave +20 mobility so it feels like a kick in the teeth for hunters specifically

Unless you're a radiant dodge hunter you'll typically use gambler's dodge which is pretty good at letting you ignore strength as a stat.

Give each class a secondary stat bonus that goes up when their main class stat increases to offset it. Example: For hunters the main stat is mobility. When mobility goes up resilience or recovery 1 point per tier of the main stat for a total of 10 addtional points. So at 100 points of mobility resilience or recovery goes up 10 points for free. For warlocks each tier in recovery, mobility or resilience go up For titans each tier in resilience, recovery or mobility go up. The secondary stat would be whatever secondary stat best fits the class.

Higher mobi = increased handling. Similar to Res giving flinch resistance/stability. This appeals to the locks/titans that put points into mobi for speed running as well. Each tier = 2 handling for a total of +20 at cap, or something similar. Higher than 20 handling might get a little broken in pvp as it effectively puts snapshot/quickdraw on every gun.

I think adding a dodge chance or at least dodge chance when running would really help. I've seen a lot of good ideas for mobility, but they all miss something about recovery and resilience, both those 2 stats keep you alive. Running fast can keep you alive but not the same way. It needs to tie into the idea of hunters being hit and run really, how ever that would be done

I think mobility should increase AE. For PvE hunters normally don’t actually need to worry about strength tho due to gamblers Dodge; they’ve swapped one stat for another. It gets a bit crazier if you play arc tho bc you can completely ignore both mobility and strength if you play correctly, allowing you to ignore two stats. And if you use assassins cowl you can also ignore recovery as the exotic plus combo blow gives full health.

It not only does hardly anything for Warlocks and Titans, it's actively detrimental to them. Which is why buffing mobility would be a really tricky thing to do since it would buff hunters while forcing the other classes to hurt themselves if they wanted to build into whatever new benefits it gained. As a warlock it'd have to give massive benefits for me to even consider boosting my mobility by anything higher than 40. Mobility as a whole needs to just be reworked.

I think it might be useful to add a generic affect when a stat is at 100. For instance, if mobility is at 100, it buffs your slide distance slightly, or if your recovery is at 100, you get a health bump on a kill similar to the vanguard origin perk (Small enough to avoid breaking the game, but big enough to have a slight impact on the overall outcome of a duel)

I've always thought that the classes should get a bonus buff for their respective stat. Titans are supposed to be the tank class yet everyone can be just as tanky outside of Supers. Same with Hunters and their mobility. Warlocks are the only real exception given their wells.

I use peacekeepers with 50 mobility on Titan (50+50 to get 100 total mobility) and it definitely helps me with strafing to evade shots and win duels. Not to mention the sheer speed and height at which you can jump around

I've always used a low mobility hunter and have never had any issues in endgame pve. Dodge recharges pretty quick, so you dont need high mobility OR strength as a hunter, resilience and discipline are the two most important pve stats for all classes. Armor mods heal and give super and ability energy back. Only problem is low mob hunters cant make one jump in spire of the watcher which sucks.

Maybe they should consider implementing a damage evasion/nullification stat tied to mobility. Certain mmorpg/rpg games have an agility/mobility stat system that gives a certain percent chance to ignore damage. It's gonna be hell trying to balance it in pvp though. They probably thought of it but scrapped the idea when foreseeing the balance implications it can bring.

The easier thing to do imo would be to give enemy AI accuracy that scales based on your mobility. Basically, the higher your mobility, the less accurate PvE enemies are at hitting you. Like a passive hit evasion bonus. It both makes sense thematically and gives a benefit that is pretty comparable to resilience's PvE damage mitigation. Both reduce the overall damage you'd be taking in different ways, and you could build into both to maximize the benefits.

Fun fact: Higher mobility on a Warlock causes your glide to raise ever so slightly the higher you go, and holds your momentum better. So it's not _entirely_ useless, it just has a very niche spot for speedrunners primarily, who use a lot of skating. :D

Hear me out. Make mobility affect your sprint speed and all jump height and can enable hunters to shoot and sprint simultaneously or just give buffs to weapon handling since higher speed means quicker use of fire arms or other weapons

As a hunter, I just focus on mobility, resilience, and recovery. I've been trying to max all 3 but it's very difficult. I'm just trying to turn my guy into a hunter/titan hybrid. A fast moving tank.

I’m gonna be completely honest, hunters don’t need any changes, they’re already the best class in the game so if you care about a pretty minuscule detail that you can’t ignore one stat completely then idk what to tell you💀 stop whining 😭

Best class is a bit of a stretch isn’t it? Yeah hunters may have good mobile skills but at the same time we have the least damaging supers with Gathering Storm being one of the only good ones (celestial nighthawk being second)

Hunters still do it pretty good. Stasis Hunters are really good with that Eager Edge Skating if you can do that

you can easily use the build crafting system with armor charges to make triple 70s into triple 100s, that's what i've been doing with hunter. put one mod onto every piece of armor and you get a +30 to every stat when you pick up an orb of power.

If you’re a solar hunter, you don’t need any mobility cuz being radiant gives you your dodge back in like 10 to 20 seconds

Easy fix idk why this isn’t in the game yet. Add a tactical sprint like all the new cods have but include a visible cooldown meter dictated by your mobility stat. But ofc Bungie would never do that

I would argue that you don’t really need strength on a hunter; if you want to use your melee option is pretty much always better to invest into mobility and use gamblers dodge

but you cant "dump" strength on armor for higher mobility. that is not how armor stat distribution works

@@sirpr3ce855 I guess but even with a moderate mobility stat you still get your dodge back way faster than your melee at max strength, and discipline is usually more important anyway

​@@sirpr3ce855 yes, you can. you can do this by farming for/buying high stat armor pieces with low strength rolls. high stat armor is limited on a stat-total basis, so with lower strength, the other stats can be higher. it's not directly a point-buy system, but when buildcrafting and build-planning, you can treat it like one.

As a warlock main I've always wanted to max the mobility stat. Speed kills in the crucible. Strafing is insanely effective in gunfights. And feeling I'm forced to push recovery, which takes more armor cost to supplement, has sucked. Even the early armor stats never dropped sets that would push mobility to 10. I think the best we could get was around 4 or 5. In the whole game.

I try not to play crucible on Warlock or Titan if I don't absolutely need to because the base strafe speed is so incredibly slow. I wish that they would standardize strafe speed to about what 8 Mobi is, and have Mobi affect something else instead. Hate feeling like I cant move on the other classes.

Just use transversives and slide into every gunfight, same with dunes and stompees, you don't need any mobility.

@@turbotegs2102 8 Mobility feels amazing. You actually have options in a gunfight. You can be competitive. 3 Mobi feels like your rolling a potato. Idk. I think I'm just gonna spec it how I want. Plenty of restoration options that can supplement recovery. Damn what the content creators say. Lol

On my warlock I actually have a 100 mobility, resilience and discipline build with tranversive steps and heat rises and Icarus dash with the other half with enhanced eager edge made just for speedrunning and movement tech

Would be hard to balance but possible, but mobility could be turned into dexterity as a whole general term, giving it also a boost to reload speed and weapon swap. Just a small extra bonus. This is from a Warlock main btw, so I wouldnt use it at all lol but would be a good balance

Just add mobility to more aspects/fragments/echos/embers/sparks. Easiest way to solve the issue without breaking the game.

i used to run 100 mobility coz i thought it was important for a hunter but after i focussed more on recov and discipline my experience improved a lot in endgame content so i dont see a point in running high mobility

While not entirely useful in most situations, mobility actually does have an effect on *some* double jumps. All Warlock jumps and Blink are heavily affected by your momentum. Having a higher mobility stat means you jump a greater distance with your first jump within the same span of time. This means you can get a not so insignificant boost to your speed when using Burst Glide, Blink, or other things that can generate slight boosts in momentum with your Warlock jumps like Icarus Dash. It also means you can double jump a bit higher than normal with all Warlock jumps.
