I think it was Jodorowski who said that when he is making a film he is a filmmaker, when he is writing he is a writer, when he is parenting he is a parent etc. I'm not sure I have felt like a filmmaker for the past year or two, having had various crises of confidence and bumps in the road despite a bit of prior 'success'. Now I am about to become a father, which will no doubt change my priorities and make some things very challenging. If I can make another short film this year, however DIY or low key, then I will consider myself a filmmaker again. I am excited by the challenge.
I just recently found you and I am in the process to reach an ambitious goal of becoming a photographer/videographer. I'm fortunate enough that I can help a growing 3x3 basketball tournament, that happens locally every summer, make videos for. I am still very much so a newbie when it comes to filming and or editing videos/photos, but youtubers like you help me stay motivated to ensure that I actually DO take ACTION, not just sit on the ideas. I appreciate you ❤
Thank you Luc for creating content that inspires new and growing artists! I think another important item one might consider is that if you have somehting you want to implement or begin doing its best to begin as soon as you see a need for change. No need to wait till the week before new years eve to start thinking about what you want to change. I won't excuse myself from having done this myself, but in the last two years after some advice from a close friend, new years became more of a check in on current goals and habits that I had already set and a time to reset and refocus on them if I have drifted! Happy New Years Everyone!
This was the reality check I needed to step it up this year. Just splurged on some new equipment, but you're absolutely right it's no good it just sitting on the shelf! Time to take action!!! Happy 2024 ☺

Publicizing a short few of my goals that are relevant to this video. Improve on my screenwriting by writing a new short film screenplay every month. It can suck or it can be great. Before the end of 2024, I aim to create at least 2 short narrative films, one animated in 3D and one in live action. Truthfully I am aiming to create more than just 2, but with workloads and more for clients, this seems like a simple and reasonable goal to set.
I have been working in professional film in my country for 15 years, I have a lot of experience in feature films and TV series. But it seems that I'm tired of big movies, and I'm starting to enjoy making youtube videos and teaching other people who would like to get into the industry.
2024 is going to be my biggest project year. By biggest it’s the first time I’m going to make a proper documentary for Telus, and not just RU-vid videos. Thanks for the motivation and keeping it real Luc. My take away from this video is stop focusing on trying to make to perfect and just do it. PS in non of my research did anyone ever say how stressful it is making projects for someone else ( although it is my project and idea it’s their money. ) YIKES!!!

I starting learn to make documentary with my first camera this year, i choose GH5 as the best low budget camera for me. This video inspire me so much ! ^o^)/
My only obstacle is money. I write good scripts, people tell me. Chamber-play size. I own my own camera, audio and post-production systems, but have no money to fund a film. No $$. I need money to rent lights and grip gear, to buy some expendables, to pay a handful of crew and the actors, to pay for insurance, to promote. I seem to have no talent for raising or attracting money.
