The big rip out is starting today at The Old Station. We are ripping out the walls and floors so we are left with just the shell of the building. This is going to be awesome!
When I renovated my old farm house I hired a disaster recovery company to take everything out and away. I had less actual detritus than you, but the cellar was flooded with sewage and everything had to be removed and disposed of. Once you have all that swept up and you look upon the cleaned shell of the building you will find all manner of inspiration. I am so looking forward to see what you make of this place.
@@theoldstationrenovation Yes it did. This was years ago. I live in and have raised my family in this house. It was horrible for the first year but I am so glad I did it. You will be too.
It's too bad they didn't take the cabinets out whole. They could have been resold to someone who could have used them in a storage building or garage. It would have kept them out of the landfill waste also. Here in the US we try to recycle things like cabinets, trim boards, doors, lighting, furniture, basins, kitchen and bathroom hardware, etc.
Those demo fellas went through the place like a proverbial tornado! It's astonishing that this was all done in a single day. Amazing. Thanks so much for sharing this. Best wishes as you move forward.
This is the stage where you think 'what have I done' But its also the new starting point. It can only get better from here on in. I lived in the shell on my house as I had no other accommodation. I slept on a stack of breeze blocks for 9 months! Happy building 😃😃😍😍😎😎
💕Looks like there is plenty of good wood that can be recycled for other projects💕Plus lots of wood that can be used as kindling for a log burner Or a log pit in the garden💕
Thinking exactly the same - looking at their method of working there was also some sledgehammer wielding without too much care for who may have been behind them.
I just find your renovation of the old train station, looking forward to watching you. I love trains and use to ride them every to years to visit family. I am 83 years old and can no longer travel alone. The older stations have so much history! May you be blessed as you renovate.
That certainly was dramatic and exciting to watch. Happy that there's more to look forward to re emptying the old station. Can't wait to see the shell and your ideas going forward. Such a great project. ❤🧡💛💚
Merthyr salvage, you guys can't be far from me then I live in tredegar south Wales, I've watched since the very first episode love the progress with the station 😁 can't wait to see it all complete
I used pro demolition teams two decades ago (canada). It was three floors 100sqm per level. In three days the place was down to the studs 16 skip loads of rubble removed. It was unbelievable how fast they worked also they had all the right tools… good luck that crew looks very competent
Wow! 16 skips. This crew have done a great job, we’re really pleased. How did your renovation turn out, we’re always interested to hear from people who’ve been through it?
Reminds me of when they interior demo'd a 1960's house for me in US. They got to a wall that had to come down to lead to the new edition. Turned out it was (as was rest of original house) was old fashioned stucco on inside. Meant at least a couple inches of stucco, followed by diamond steel lathe, then insulation, then studs. Built them well back in that day! Local police called me, asked me to come by, no biggie. I was curious, so did. Found entire front yard covered in "snow", and saw wall interiors for first time. Amazing! House is concrete block construction, BTW.
Oh wow! That was a lot of work being done in one day. ...but the flock of Woodpeckers did a great job😅😅😅 Jeannie Kurver (79 years of age) from South Africa.
If you had first seen the building looking like this you might have thought twice ! But you obviously have the vision of how it's going to look. Looking forward to the end result. You certainly don't hang about.
I’m amazed that the workers are not wearing dust masks , considering that the train brake pads were asbestos and the dust would have settled in the ceiling cavity
Wow, too bad the skiff didn’t arrive today, but tomorrow will bring another kind of work. This old station will be a wonderful living space, once you get it done! So glad we get to come along on this adventure with you and your family.🥰
Great progress! I can't help thinking US health and safety (OSHA) would not like some of the things the demolition team was and was not doing. It means they made better progress! LOL.
That was wild and worth every penny that it cost you. It would have been too much work for you and Gil - not to mention how dangerous the upper level demo could get. Looking forward to seeing the bare, naked station in the next episode 😀
I’m amazed that the upstairs rip out crew were not wearing safety gear such as safety glasses, mouth masks and gloves. The amount of dust that would have been coming down must’ve been huge.
Me, again. WOW! Is all I have to say. The place looks like a tornado went through town. I hope you salvaged the black framed mirror that was above the fireplace. I kept my fingers crossed that the trash from upstairs didn't fall wrong and break a window. Looking forward to part 2 of the rip out. Good night from California.
Those guys really rip through a place don't they 😊. Those Ikea kitchen cabinets came apart quickly 😂. Great work and videos like always. It was nice that you were able to video these guys.
The structure, the history, and the topography of the lot is quite unique and offers you a plethora of possibilities. Looking forward to the next chapter of your renovation.
No need to smell the kitchen, one look was enough to know it had to go, and I'm big on recycling. Looking forward to seeing the original shell exposed.
Looked like they had fun smashing your place up? Well, they at least saved your camera from falling all the way to the ground. Wonderful, looking forward to more this week,
there is something about demolition that makes me happy, maybe its the utter chaos, maybe its because i love smashing stuff lol but nice work looking forward to seeing the build as it progresses
How well built this wonderful train station was. I hope you'll be able to reuse some of that good wood the guys are removing. It's a shame the kitchen smelled so badly that you're not able to reuse any of the items in that room. The copper item - - is that a water heater? I hope you saved the molding in the ceiling around the light. It's a beautiful antique piece. You can always paint it a different color if you want. Those guys were busy beavers today!!! 😊
Well, that is the start of thevend, buf of course a long wzy to go, it's looking great, hope the next stage goes well for you all, bedt regards from a Kiwi living in Australia, Les
@@leecarlson9713 hi Lee, it great to know all the commentors live, I am in Melbourne but originally from Christchurch New Zealand, take care and keep safe, Les
Wow pretty impressive, quick work by those guys. Will be great to see it fully striped out. You'll have a much better idea of the space your working with then.

Oh what a lot of work done in a day, and yes cant wait to see the inner shell and the endless ideas you will all have. The space will be amazing. Hugs sent xxx Dede
Those guys were really focused. Too bad the skip didn't arrive, but hey that's the way the cookie crumbles. I look forward to day two. Did you have to hold Gil back with his trusty tire iron? Lol. I'm praying the weather stays dry for you! All my fingers are crossed! Blessed Be!
Looking forward to see your plans for this Very much in the lay out etc Once you have it ripped out And progress at stages ❤ Very beautiful old building Will make a beautiful home once finished to be proud of ❤
Its going to be amazing my hope is that the historical structure will shine through in the new architectural design and use of interior spaces along with integrating out buildings
When they came and priced up the job they took into account what they could sell on so the copper was part of that! I bet it’ll be worth a few quid! Thanks very much for watching, we’re very grateful.
❤😊😊😊 The start of the transformation. Those guys didn't waste any time ripping out the stuff except for the recovery of your camera..LOL 😂 Great video as always...G'day from Australia 🇦🇺....❤😊😊
