WAS his cab for the taking but the rule: snooze ,you lose. If not for the other guy, he might have jibber jabbered on the phone all day and got back to the office too late to get the wrong number phone call from Jared and then no story for a movie so it all worked out thanks to that guy.

Sort of. It's not that he loves his job per se, but what drives Mark and gives him purpose is critiquing everything. That's why he got dinged by his rabbi in Hebrew School for trying to find inconsistencies in the Torah. In finance, he gets to do what gives him purpose, which is deconstructing the smoke and mirrors of the industry, and especially its boosters, cheerleaders, and double-dealers. He hates the industry itself, but loves that he can point out the BS in it and give his family a living by doing so.
