These Thugs? What's your problem. The City of Cherbourg allowed this. This Bunker is rotting away. And instead of an rotten Bunker they allow Street Artists to use those Walls.
@@papaaaaaaa2625 should you do the same to a historic building? If you dont maintain those they rot away as well. Grafiti to me and many others is a associated with pour suburbs, street vandalism... and here in Holland they put big wooden walls where teen boys with spraycans can play on.
At one of the more intact Battery Todt casemates near Calais, the original Grafiti that was done by the German soldiers stationed there were damaged by thugs painting over them.
That was very interesting. I did see some bunkers on Denmarks coastline, only a very few had any original paint or markings on the walls, even fewer kept clean.
Great video! It seems that history in a lot of these places is really only important anymore when there is money to be made. The titanic struggle and the human cost of that struggle, and that men from other countries sacrificed themselves to free your country are frequent forgptten.
You're right, the main Normandy sector is so extremely overwhelmingly toeristy it's annoying and not really that fun anymore. And places like this were the toerist don't come nobody cares about.
@@PanzerPicture This also happens in the US. Next time you get here try visiting Gettysburg and you will see the same thing. Also, most of the other Civil War battlefields have simply been developed. Sad.
@@nonamesplease6288 it's a double edge sword, it brings in money so other historical places can be saved and maintained, on the other side it brings in the dirty touristy stuff.
Wow, what an interesting walk trough in this big bunker! I am amazed to see the classical optical range-finding system for long-range gunnery by using the triangulation but is it original? Because everything has been stripped clear including bolts! Out of curiosity what was the the caliber of the main cannon, 305mm similar to those in Norway? By the way I really agree with the others about the graffiti, vandals! Really a a good job you did👍👍
@@PanzerPicture the big bunker with the side wings was almost built around this cannon as it can be seen the semi circular quare on the rare! It's side wings should hold the ammo and the separate powder bags! The name of this bunker i don't know...
Annoyed is an understatement!! I feel it 100% vandalism for street artist but, also when the allies decided to not keep it in tack for future generations to be able to enjoy instead of becoming an eye sore especially once the locals got done hastily tear many structures apart for really nothing more than revenge! The art work is most cases is fantastic! However, it’s an historic structure and needs to be respected as such..
@@PanzerPicture Why a abandoned factory but Not this abandoned Bunker? This Thing is rotting away anyway. Nobody wants to pay the maintenance for this thing, it would be idiotic to keep this Thing in good condition.
I agree about the street art. If it was memorial based art then i could appreciate that, but the star wars stuff is pretty despicable in my opinion. They are living memorials and won't be around much longer as they disintegrate so some respect whilst still here would be good.
What if the modern art represented how we view it today? I do jot like the graffiti, should be left as was. But the right piece of art in the right place should tell the story? Dunno..., just a thought...nice work btw👍🏻
Most of these street artist don't care about history, You can see that from a Tram collection somewhere in America, which was placed by a collector in the woods, when it was discovered by Urbexs people from RU-vid word got out, and it's now totally destroyed by these sort of people.
Sad France let ppl do graffiti on a historical site a place that gave France Freedom they should cherish this site as was turning point in their liberation
Could you please remove that cartoon strip in bottom right, it is obstructive and unnecessary, thank you. That paint is pure vandalism of an historical building, it is not art.
@@PanzerPicture Then you are lucky, every time I visit my home country (Portugal) most buildings (including historical) are covered with stupid "street art"
Not keeping this graffiti clean is like urinating on the brave soldiers who gave us the freedom we enjoy today, as for the taggers the should be found and punished simple
