A few clarifications:
- Both the current UBE and NextGen scores will be transferrable between all UBE jurisdictions. There will be a period from July 2026 to February 2028 when both the current UBE and NextGen will yield fully portable scores. From 2028 to 2033, current UBE scores will still be portable even though that exam is no longer administered. Right now, the maximum score portability period is five years, and while no jurisdiction has yet indicated to the NCBE that they’d want to go longer, we do know that it’s a possibility.
- On the current bar exam, the MEE and MPT are administered on day one and the MBE on day two.

I can sure see why people aren’t talking about this. I’m just learning about it now, and I’m outraged. I passed the Minnesota bar in 2001, and it’s not overly stressful and difficult, as this video incorrectly depicts. If you study for it, and you have intelligence, (as all lawyers should), you pass it. Does this country not value intelligence anymore. This is ridiculous. I think this new law school exam is racist. They say it’s less about memorization and more about lawyering skills, but if lawyering skills aren’t memorized then they must be suggesting people are born with them, which clearly isn’t the case. And saying there’s no place for memory in the practice of law is the biggest crock of bologna, and the greatest insult to one of the most prestigious and important professions on the planet I’ve ever heard in my life. This basically means with this new test they can pass whoever they want, and fail whoever they want. Do you think any minorities will be the ones they choose to fail? People who can’t memorize statutes and legal precedents necessary for understanding and practicing law are going to be running our country in the future because of this. From my perspective this would appear to be the beginning of the end for America. Studies indicate African Americans have a more difficult time passing the current bar exam than whites. I don’t think they’re dumber, as I’m not racist, but I do think they just feel like they deserve to be handed a prestigious degree without studying hard for it. If I were an African American I’d be AGAINST this new bar exam, and for the sake of competent lawyers, and political leadership in the future of our nation I’d be encouraging my fellow African Americans to simply study harder. I’ve lived in Minnesota my whole life. If they actually adopt this political garbage I’m leaving the state.

As someone who’s not African American you sure do have a lot of opinions on what they should be doing.

@@MrDavid3443 I’m not African American, but I’m someone who believes in equality of all races, and as an empathetic individual, and a member of a religious minority I can understand what it would be like to have their history in this country. Furthermore, they’re not just opinions. They’re reasonable assessments of what could happen to this country if we stop valuing hard work and intelligence in our procedures for determining fitness to practice law. I guess you think people just have to sit back like vegetables and not express their honest views. I suppose you’ve never heard of the First Amendment. Yes, I think African Americans should be opposing this. You’ve said nothing to suggest I should think otherwise, and I’ll always express my views when I see fit.
