The next big update arrived to Day of Dragons and with it the Flame Stalker comes to life! Over all the FS is the biggest dragon to date and from what i understand the strongest. There's not much else to say except it has some cool animation work, Everything else is represented in the video. I hope they soon fix the lighting and start to swap out the map assets!
I was very unsure about this game after hearing all the contriversy surrounding it, and about ready to stop following it altogether after hearing that yor dog was threatened. But thank you for continuing to cover this game's development and revealing that this is actually one to look forward to playing now that the dev team seem to have (hopefully) gotten their act together.
I am shocked that Kimmy didn't show you the paddletail fish in Riven Ravine and Swamp Snapper by 4 ponds. They are static Ai at the moment but you didn't see them or did they get cut out for editing?
not gonna lie man, I was really hesitant about this game ever since day one, I love how far the games come however! I bet with enough diverse biomes, different types of dragons (person I quite like the inferno ravager thingy) and possibly better lighting, this game could be possibly one of the top tier creature survival games out there.
@@vluckie haha that would be dope, kinda looks like an elder flame stalker could kinda match what you want, idk about the pure rage and malice thingo, and im pretty sure fatalis has a bigger neck and is bigger than the current elder anyway
Ya I feel the same hesitation. Im getting really mixed feelings with Anthomnia making this vid since day of dragons (im 99% sure its the same devs but i can be wrong, they all got the same game names, correct me if wrong) has done some really shady things with the development. I dont feel comfortable buying such a game without knowing if those people from before are still behind the project. I wish Anthomania talked about the information more here, especially when so excited for a game, i wish he expressed whether or not to trust it. It it does look really good, ima just hold off on paying anything until i see its true nature yk
@@LilCatSillyTheSillyOne One of the dragons is literally toothless. I have never seen a more shameless ripoff of it tbh. I kinda like the game lately but this bootleg nightfury is rlly meh
@@Brunette_2005 looked like the white one flying with himmnear the beginning was literally Luna think her name was his white night fury in httyd 3 think it was
such a rocky start it was revealed as an asset flip in its very early going (most of its bases were store bought assets) and the creator of the thing became a massive dick to three other content creators
To anyone interested in this game from this video, don’t know if he mentions it, I would suggest to do research on the events surrounding Jao and the other dev members that occurred a year or so ago at this point. View this and then make your choice on if you’d like to support them. I’m not trying to sway your opinion in which way. Just like people to know
@@waverider7802 While I love your idea of castles, I personally rather not see humans in the game. I like the idea of the world being dominated by just dragons. Also I was thinking something cool like a Biome that is like a Crystal land? Where big chunks of different color crystals would come out of the earth and such. Would be so freaking cool.
I really enjoyed watching this video. This gives me hope that things can hopefully keep improving for gameplay mechanics, creatures, and the community as a whole. I think I'll be holding off a little while longer on purchasing it though. Thanks for covering this.
If you are happy to hold off, they have a big sale around the end of the year. There will be the Inferno ravanger and the Magma elemental in by then with the Nurse dragon and Singe crest either in or very close to being done.
This game's looking pretty good already, I just may give it a look! That breeding mechanic looks super cool! It always felt off that in the Isle, males served basically zero purpose in nesting etc XD
Man, I love watching Anth playing these games. The genuine energy and laughter and joy and emotion that he brings to the game and the way that he portrays them genuinely makes me want to download every single game that he plays just for the experience that he has. Thanks for what you do Anthomnia, you're a genuinely excellent member of every community and I can't wait to see what you do in the future!
@@ceresofthestars Yes I’m the same way but RU-vid’s email thing is gone now I believe. Sent a friend request since I couldn’t find you in the server. You can delete your name here now so others don’t grab it!
The landscapes of this game feel so large and empty in certain areas...and not in a good way. They may need to consider their world building. Maybe they could add burrows, hills, ruins, old dragon nesting grounds, etc. I had really high hopes for this game, but I'm still really skeptical right now. I'll wait to purchase until I've got more assurance that they're actually going to flesh this out more.
Mainly because we are still trying to find a good fit as our map designer, the map is currently made by the lead developer and he's admitted he's not the best at it xD
@@tenshi.kurama Ahhhh! Makes sense! Lol I imagine there aren't many map designers as far as open world games that aren't already occupied with projects. Like, I LOVE the dragons, their sounds, animations, etc. Just the game that needs work lol
Humans never evolved on the planet DoD takes place in, so ruins really wouldn't fit the world. The planet is called Jrakhon, and its moon is Nharogk, and is where the elementals come from as well
I posted this on one of the older videos about this game, the one back when the original land only dragon came out. Sadly I posted it a while after the video went live so I'm not sure how many people saw it. However, I think what I said is worth saying again so I'll post it here (sorry for any grammar/spelling mistakes): I've been thinking about this situation some on my own and I think the creator of Day of Dragons is getting more blame than he deserves. I do admit that he did not handle the situation well, with possible hardcode bans and such things, but I do believe that we should see the situation from his point of view before we judge him. From his point of view he is a new game creator who knows a moderate amount about coding and such and sets of to make his first game. He picks and interesting idea, dragon survival, and comes up with some things he wants, cool powers, giant maps, detailed growth, etc. He then throws together a page for the game with place holder images and such to get the idea across, he makes a demo with place holder creatures so that people can see that he's serious and so they can have something fun to do if they do sign on, and he asks for a moderate amount of money to get him started. Then bam, his game is noticed by a large community who are very excited for it and suddenly the budget he asked for is exceeded multiple times and people are asking for more stretch goals, and dragons, and maps, and features because now he has all this funding. So, riding the high, he says yes and promises all these features and creatures and maps, while not fully understanding how much coding that will take. When he gets off the high and notices what he's promised, and realizes how hard that is to code, he maybe freaks out a little bit and starts worrying that if he doesn't deliver on these promises he might get sued and people will demand their money back. Also at this time, people have started floating the idea that he might be a scammer and are looking for ways to get the money back. Based on these facts and worries, he hires a lawyer who can defend him if people start coming for the money they gave him, which was far more than he expected, or probably ever wanted. As he takes this measure it all starts going wrong. People have looked into his page and found the placeholders and images that aren't his, people are looking at his code, people are talking about him on the internet, and people are demanding the dragons and other features he promised right now. However, even if he wanted to give the people those things, which I believe he did, he can't. One man cannot code and create that much in such a short period of time. However, he has been working. He's been coding the placeholder dragons to give them their abilities, he's contracted someone for the sounds, he's got an artist so the images are his, and he's looking at hiring other coders to help him out, but this project was his idea, so maybe he wants to do it himself. At this point the high and excitement for the game have fully worn off and a lot of people are calling for their money back and attacking him on his placeholders. As most people do when attacked, he goes into flight or fight. Flight would mean to do the awful thing people are saying he is - taking the money and running - so that's out. Fight, then, is his only option, so he fights. He starts to hit back against the people attacking him and as more people start coming at him he gets more and more defensive. Unfortunately for him, the only people who will support him are die-hards, some of whom send death threats, but he's up against a wall here: his first venture into game making has exceeded his wildest dreams and is now his worst nightmare. The page and tech demo he threw together to get his idea across have been analyzed far more than he expected, he now has half a million dollars he didn't ask for, all the work he is doing isn't enough for the people who payed, a large portion of people are now accursing him of theft and calling for their money, and people have started sending death threats to him, his supporters, and his detractors. At his point everything has gone way too far. As the people who support him start asking the valid questions of his opponents he is so far into defensive mode that he turns on them, in a moment of panic he possibly (I don't know if this actually happened) hardcode bans some of his most vocal detractors, but that just makes everything worse. To top it all off, his best supporter, or only big person who isn't attacking him, steps away and now he's alone. Eventually it all calms down and he is left with half a million dollars, very little support or interest, and a large number of very disappointed people who think he stole their money. After all of that, he comes to a decision: does he abandon the project or does he stick with it despite the stigma it now has? He decides to stick with it. Rather than take the money and run like everyone says; he sits down and starts to do what he promised to do. He keeps the sound guy going and he starts working on creatures and maps. I believe the fact that after all that happened he decided to actually stay with the project and make the game he set out to make speaks to a level of character and determination that it not usually found. I don't want this to seem like a defense of the creator for his actions, some of them were wrong and indefensible, but before you judge him, and write him off, think about what he's been through and how this isn't what he wanted either. P.S. I'm sorry I never used the creator's name, I forgot what it is. Also, this does sound like I know the creator and am speaking form reality. I am not. I am not the creator, nor do I know him, I am simply offering a possible interpretation of the events as I know them and giving the creator the benefit of the doubt.
so you write all that.. to actually know nothing xD. could of just said "yer i dont think the guy was a bad guy" all that in the comments of a vid to not even be acknowledged by the youtuber or person oof.
incredible. absolutely incredible. As one of the words biggest dragon geeks I am thoroughly impressed. If it werent for the inevitable model clipping Id say its movie quality. However I do feel like it is missing more potential prey. Having more AI may be laggy until optimised but deffinatly needs to happen
We're teasing the Swamp Snapper and Paddle Tail Fish in the live branches rn, they are both static models but they are there for your viewing pleasure. The two ai you can kill and eat rn are thornback crawlers and Spined Scarabs
There should be a giant dragon. Like absolutely enormous. Like, it can fit several adult dragons in its mouth. But they make it incredibly slow, possibly flightless, and with a high amount of stamina but it recovers extremely slowly. It’s basically a tank, slow and defensive but the right weak spots take it out quickly. Of course, this is a joke but would be cool nonetheless
There IS the Behemoth Ice Drake from the kickstarter, not big enough to fit multiple adult dragons in its mouth, but so far it'll be the biggest dragon
Actually glad to see this game has grown - it is now showing it's true potential as a survival rpg. There's clearly still bugs to work out, like minor animations such as turning in place, landing, adding more diverse environments like caves and volcanoes and rainforests. I for one would like to see a system that involves claiming a home cave, claiming and expanding territory, and warfare with other clans. But it's looking pretty polished like it should have from the beginning.
So I like the Flame Stalker adult design, the baby design is very weak. However it gives me too much Smaug vibes, most of these dragons seem heavily inspired to the point of near copyright issues, I haven't really seen any dragons which I can say are 100% original and unique to them.
@@thearbitar4458 I would say it's probably the most unique out of them all, but it's just your average swamp drake, but the animations on it and the overall model doesn't really reflect of how well done the concept was.
This game has a good look for the future long as the devs stay active and keep investing correctly. So far they have the best looking dragons details are amazing 👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿
The game may be good, but there's still negative reviews mostly consisting of admin abuse and an outright toxic community. This will either become a game with a toxic-only community, or it'll be destroyed because of its toxic community and admins.
@@PR-xm5zcthis community is different. Witch Hunts, Art tracing one of the devs official artwork, Bullying, threats of Doxxing, actual doxxing, threats of killing Anthomnia's dog, accusing other games of "tracing" DOD's 3d models when DOD has rip offs of popular dragons and other creatures. This game community is a cult. If you talk shit about the game, your life or pets will be threatened with lethal harm and if you have any critics you will be targeted. No other game community is THIS dangerously toxic. Not even League of Legends
Super glad you've been enjoying the progress so far in this game. I think the flight system is one of my favorite things about it too. It's fun to learn and get better at. :)
This game and the devs seem to have come a long way since the start but I don't think I can buy this knowing the things they have said and done in the past.
So glad this game is still limping along, I'd love to play a cleaned up version of DoD, hell, just 3 dragon options, a diverse skin and breeding system, and a lag free smooth game and I'd be happy
it would be really cool if you could become a massive elder dragon like in the Eragon books, they were said to be up to a mile big, while not that big but something that dwarfs trees, it would be harder to move around but I'm thinking something the size of the giant worm? I just like the idea of a massive elder dragon that is the leader of the pack and helps raise the little ones or the other smaller dragons and keeps the clan safe.
Behemoths are dragons that are about the size of the worms, there are 2 confirmed ones so far, the Ice Behemoth Drake which spits Ice and can’t fly, and the Flame Behemoth Dragon which can fly and breath fire.
Sounds exactly like the Ice Behemoth Drake. This like a cross between a crocodile and a saber toothed cat - then make it three times the size of the dragons filmed here. We just got the concept art droped last month and it looks amazing.
Something I would love to see in a dragon game is NPC humans, where you as a dragon can burn down villages and settlements in which human NPC will build from time to time. (If like if you don't they start hunting you).
Man this is awesome. I love the reall dragon mechanics like dropping an baby mid air to learn how to fly, the fire breathing, the look of the fire, the different type of fires and the cool ability’s like spitting poison or becomes invisible. I’m glad this game has stepped up and that there’s actually something becoming off of it.
been with this game since the day it came out (december 4th dunno what year lol) and as much as i really miss the old version i feel like this game is becoming better with the time its given and as soon as my laptop doesnt run like a potato ill probably cry rejoining lol
i have held back from getting this game cause i was worried...but seeing all this damn et! have my money im installing it as i write this! im wana play a dragon! :D
What day of dragons did still isn’t forgotten aleast for me but it’s good that their working on the game instead of what other awful things they could have done
When I saw thep picture for the video the first thing that popped in my mind was smaug from hobbit. But to be honest at 5:16 you looked more like Drago fro dragon heart. 🥰🤷♀️Either way still AMAZING. IT LOOKS SO COOL CANT WAIT TO SEE MORE
Personally I absolutely love dragons, I'm not sure where I heard of this game, but the moment I read that there is a Kickstarter I went to go support them. I'm also still waiting for the bioluminescent dragon I paid for, but I don't mind waiting, it was really stressful when everyone was kept on the edge over waiting for the game to be released, but I kept my patience
There are some equivalents to real life animals coming to the game in the future. Stuff like the swamp snapper, a draconic snapping turtle, and a whiskered paddletail, a large, catfish-esque fish species. Both are ai. There is also the rhino-like ai, which I think is unnamed at the moment, and of course, the cave cutter, an adult dragon sized bug that lives in the caves within the winter winds biome
Imagine when they make the mini boss worms when you fly and see one of your friends get snatched up by a huge worm and he is gone then you go back where you came from XD
This game is awesome. Although I personally would Like a sandbox mode since I don't have time to sit down for 4 hours and grow a dragon. If I could skip the growth cycle I'd definitely enjoy it far more but this update still looks incredibly promising
this game needs to add the ability for adult dragons with stronger fire breath to be able to knock and burn trees and rubbish away .. and just leave like coaled stuff in its path
honestly i completely forgot about this game until this video showed up on my recommended, glad to see the game has actually come a long way. might actually see about inventing in getting it now
the terrain looks to be around the level of 7 days to die which is 9 years old the game still has a ways to go, but i do like look of the dragons lets just hope they dont fill this game with like 20 dlc dragons you have to pay for
I’m considering getting the game now only thing is, I’m afraid that won’t be how ant showed it. Like do you actually survive like you would in the wild find an pack and mate and things like that or is just random walking around killing what you see?
Dang, now I want to get this game so much again. Looks so much fun now. It would be super fun to play it with friends, but hope it is ok solo playing too :O
Soloing is fun but it's hard to survive as a baby if you don't know what you're doing. I would ask someone to adopt you the first couple dragons and then solo from there.
It started off with a very shaddy production, they took a long, LONG while to do stuff, it seemed like they where gonna make it a get em n bail situation, but now production is sloooooooooowly begining to pick up and there's some hope it might turn out as a no man's sky situation
This game gives off massive how to train your dragon vibes, a few of the dragons designs and their abilities are very similar to some of the ones in the movies! 😂
Ngl, I used to not really be a fan of how closely these dragons resemble the ones in httyd, but now I think of DoD as like an alternate universe of some kind. Same dragons, mostly, but the world is different.
I swear I can never find a server with more than 8 players at a time. This game has the potential to be so amazing- outside of it being so very original- but the mechanics and the controls makes it a hassle to learn and get accustomed to. I love everything about this game and I can't wait for it to get the attention it deserves like The Isle ot Path of Titans.
Im not too caught up with the drama behind this game but ik it has a bit of a dark history. Is the game in a better state development wise now? Because this game looks really cool and they designs and animations for the dragons look really good
Development is slow but definitely happening. Supposedly they're going to release the last "core" dragon in a couple months. Hasn't been any particular drama lately as far as I know.
Finally, a new dragon. Im not trying to be negative, but wow, they need to pick up the pace. The environment needs more variables. Where are the typical dragon habitats we expect. Volcanoes, caves, desert. Jungle, and why isnt there wildlife to hunt beyond bugs still.
They have a public trello you can follow to see what's planned. They are a small team and looking to expand. They're currently looking for a map designer to help with the environment. More AI have already been animated and teased, we're waiting on coding and such. Other AI have their 3D concepts and are at various stages of development. Trello or their social media is the best place to get updated if you don't want to join the discord.
@@tt-art6144 they are years in, stop spending donated money on vacations. Get the elementals in so we can offer feedback, get larger prey for the pve players. And release a few more dragons. Or sell the company to a dev that will not waste our time. Its been too long to use that excuse of being a small team. Get some frigging work done, and access the community feedback to help prioritize things. Dont be another frontier developments. And lose the community for lack of active development.
I was put off with stuff I heard about this game at the beginning, but it seems to have come a long way. I'm still going to hold out a little while before trying it, from what I hear the clans just completely take over and I've heard from multiple friends who play that it's impossible to try and grow anything without being killed by clan members. If they somehow nerf the clans I think it would be more playable
I am pleasantly surprised about this game but i think i will wait to start playing again when i can get my hands on the tank dragon you showed consept for
I saw myself in chat lol Btw I love your videos keep it up, Edit: When kimmy did the mating display and you said the tables had turned I could hear “It’s only a matter of Time-“ & “Nah I’m alright” XD
I feel like they could do more with the setting instead of making the world so flat and simple. Special caves crystal caverns maybe I mean there are dragons
The map was made by the lead dev whilst coding on the game and he said himself that he's not that good at it. They have been/are currently looking for a map designer. If they get one, not only will this map be remade, but the other big biomes that are planned will also get made.
flame stalker is my fav but I think it either need more bulk or power cause the shadow scale is supposed to be it's prey but the shadow scale kills the FS really easily
