Spoilers for who haven't watched F/Z 👇 As you have seen, the will of the grail visits the winner of HGW, but this time it's different or we should say it's corrupted. From the 3rd HGW, the servant 'angry mango' died, dematerialized and fused himself with the grail thereby taking some of the controls over the HGW system. In normal HGW, the winner will normally get his/her wish granted but this time angra has his selfish plans.. 8:24 8:27 9:23 14:40 he wants to be born in this world and finds kiritsugu as his perfect vessel (servants fusing their spirit core with a living person in order to summon themselves in this world). He gradually tries to make Kiritsugu to accept his offer by (showing all these mental tests) and in return he will grant his wish of world peace by following the same way the kiritsugu went with, but in a larger scale 🗿 by the help of lots of mana from the grail obviously. But when Kiritsugu tried to deny the grail, deny angra, it was already late as he got severely cursed by him 16:58 And don't get sad that kiritsugu here went against his wife and his daughter, he knows very well at this point that it's all angra trying to influence him to do that, therefore he tried to eliminate whatever comes his way and move tf away from this stuff. Bonus lore: In UBW anime, it was the corrupted grail in form of irisviel who showed up to Illya and influenced her to take revenge on Kiritsugu and his family as they betrayed the grail (and in that way betrayed the Einzberns). Saber isn't just a servant actually. She's alive and repeatedly transferred by a alaya to a different time-spaces to do a job world itself wants.. And also called for the holy grail wars. For her, this all is a one in billion chance to finally undo all live and provide peace for herself and her subject. So she fell for the Angry mango trap pretty easily. Gil just was bored with this all shit and basically wanted saber and incarnation in order to well have saber. And about Kiritsugu.. He was all about 'to save many, it's right to kill one'. This is ethical idea direction called utilitarianism. Angry mango taken it to illogical extreme, but not completely. You see, in Russia for example, exactly this logic is used by security authorities to justify what they do. Now they do not like to resort to the violence in its most direct ways, like 80 years ago, but the very operating concept is very much same. So yeah. This anime is more, than just an anime about completely broken people who compete for an evil wish granting machine. The main line is actually ridiculously relatable for social context and 'aged well'. So yeah. Time for the final episode has come.

Man, I remember watching this when it aired and I got chills watching it. I was watching the fight and it made me like fate in the same way cap. america and the winter soldier made me like the mcu. After being shown a lot of flashy over the top action, this took that and grounded it in reality to give a fight that's so unreal, yet also feels so close to being real...the music and choreography also helped make the fight more awesome and not just the animation. The animation was really great, but it was the music an the fight choreography that really made me like this fight...
