I met up with documentary filmmaker Zachary Dziadul to help him film some incredible fish for an upcoming project of his focusing on Houston's bayous.
Things may have started slow, but our patience paid off in a big, big way!

I love the passion and view you you have for gar, that's my favorite fish. I feel the exact same way and don't understand why people view them as "trash fish". They are true dinosaurs and should be protected! Great video as always 👍
@wildlifefishingshow
@wildlifefishingshow 2 года назад
Yeah, the idea that the value of an animal that has been swimming around since the Cretaceous is determined by how many people currently want to catch them is ridiculous. They are a tremendous piece of zoological history.
@gus2600
@gus2600 2 года назад
I thought that the dinosaurs went extinct at least a million years ago . These are not dinosaurs . They are predators that are eating the game fish and should be killed when caught . In Colorado, they kill pike fish when they catch them to help the trout population .
@wildlifefishingshow
@wildlifefishingshow 2 года назад
@@gus2600 These are native fish that have been here since the Cretaceous and they can eat whatever they want, although to correct you I'll point out that their diet mostly consists of shad, buffalo, mullet, carp, and tilapia. However, EVEN IF they did eat game fish, the term "game fish" is completely arbitrary and speaks only to what is currently deemed popular to catch and has nothing whatsoever to do with a fish's role in or importance to the environment. And on top of all that, loads of animals eat "game fish." Alligators, otters, turtles, herons, pelicans, osprey, snakes, and on and on the list goes. You think they should all be wiped out because some random group of guys said which fish are more popular to catch than others? No. Alligator gar are incredibly important parts of our ecosystem and they must be protected. Coming back to add this bit because I can't stop thinking about it... you don't really think we're seriously calling these fish dinosaurs because we think they're dinosaurs, right? Right? And yeah, dinosaurs went extinct at least a million years ago... about 65 million.

So basically you can't tolerate hearing religious stuff? Religious people are forced to hear atheist propaganda all day.
@Emielio1
@Emielio1 2 года назад
@@faithmgtow Not really. Atheists merely counter the religious stuff that is weaved into nearly everything in our respective societies (although, to be fair, it's not nearly as bad over here in the Netherlands as it is over there in the US, seeing how the percentages of theists in the Netherlands and a good part of northern Europe in general have been dropping year after year). Religious expressions and concepts are often introduced into even the most mundane tasks and events. Some atheists, like me, are just sick of getting it rubbed into our faces whenever we just try to watch something that shouldn't have anything to do with religion in the first place, like fishing. Don't play the victim here. Religious people greatly outnumber the atheists. All we can do is bring attention to the irrational, delusional abundance of religious superstition that permeates every part of society.
@faithmgtow
@faithmgtow 2 года назад
@@Emielio1 I'm just kidding, I wouldn't encourage even an atheist to do drugs, just a stereotypical joke on my part.
@faithmgtow
@faithmgtow 2 года назад
@@Emielio1 "religious people greatly outnumber the atheists" mostly true and from a statistical standpoint its absolutely true, but many religious people simply claim that title but don't believe in their said religion at all. There was a survey done in America I wanna say, that proved that most self proclaimed Christians have at least 1 new age belief. And I could be one of them if I'm being honest, I'm not sure. But my point is many self proclaimed Christians even, absolutely shun most of what's in the Bible and refuse to preach it, while calling Christians like me and other fundamentalists, who actually believe in the whole complete Bible, extremists and say we're preaching hate and intolerance and insinuate that we're just taking everything out of context.
