Isekai is like that friend who is really annoying but u can't help but love them

A personal favorite flex of mine is ainz's royal procession. It was like a multi layered flex too from using a spell to freeze the mud around the area so he doesnt need to walk in it to having a giant golem come out just to throw a cube to having magic armor skeletons as a staircase. Showing the lizard men the true power of nazarick!

Rimuru’s demon lord arc (from the attack on Tempest to Walpurgis) was such a brutal flex. Everything was so sad but the brutal and one-sided crunch from Rimuru and his subordinates was a pleasing flex. Megiddo was devastating. But most of all, the Claymen’s punishment was so deserved and satisfying. Reading it in the LN was merciless and Claymen deserved every bit of it.

The sound design for "Eminence in Shadow" and "That time I reincarnated as a slime" is AMAZING. You can feel the flex, the impact of the moment.

For those who cant read kanji during slime's Megiddo the text that appear beside him roughly translates to Gods Anger That makes the name of the skill even more terrifying

A neat thing to note about Rimuru’s spell Megiddo, is that the word “Megiddo” actually has biblical roots, and is synonymous with the apocalypse and the end of the world. Not only did Rimuru descend on them like a god of death, but he brought them the apocalypse.

Rimuru releasing Megiddo was so satisfying, due to all the emotions that have been building up. Hakurou said it best: they angered someone they never should have

Can't Believe you talked about a flex in Gate and didn't mentions Rory's Flex on that lady thinking she was a little kid. It was so satisfying!

Cid's speech to Iris before unleashing his power is something I watched many times when it first came out. It's such a good flex.

For eminence in shadow he didn't just threaten a nuke at the end due to them asking if he was going to run away it was because they just got done saying that he done fucked up and the whole city would be after him. He was basicly saying "The whole city after me? I could wipe out everyone in it in an instant"

Rimuru's spell is the most satisfying flex in any isekai for one sole reason; the producers let it build up. Spoiler warning for anyone who hasn't watched that far and actually cares. They didn't just declare war on Tempest while he was away, they sent the strongest swordswoman in the world, a master of direct attacks to the soul, to kill Rimuru, or at least stall him on his way back to Tempest from Ingrassia. While he was busy trying to avoid seven attacks from her sword, each one directly hitting his soul and guaranteeing death on the seventh blow, Falmuth sent summoned otherworlders to stir up trouble in town. Trouble they kicked off by accusing Gobzo of assaulting one of them, a girl named Kirara. Typical false attempted rape accusation, which Gobta completely brushed off with the help of Shion and Shuna pulling up at the last moment. Shuna anti'd Kirara's ability, which forced people to obey her commands (she'd just ordered Gobta and Gobzo to die). Her two companions then started a fight with Gobta and Shion, which they were about to lose, when Falmuth's army put up a barrier that reduced the abilities of any monsters inside. Cue Shion now struggling with her fight, while Hakuro jumps in to help after Gobta gets stabbed through the gut and has his face stomped on because sword prick is a douche. Hakuro goes down with another gut slash, Shion's bruised and beaten, and now Falmuth's army rides in with their leader shouting how he came to see this nation of monsters, and found them attacking their citizens. Falmuth's army charges through the center of town, killing everyone who gets in the way, and Shion takes a sword to the back when she dives out to protect a little girl caught in the middle of the street. Rimuru gets back to town to find the city trashed, dozens wounded, and all of his closest friends and advisors trying to keep him from going to the square. Once he finally gets them to show him what's going on, he sees dozens of dead citizens laid out in the square, with Shion and Gobzo at the front, after one of his first rules laid down for the settlement was not to attack humans. And this was over around EIGHT EPISODES, eight weeks of watching this injustice and bullshit build up, hoping to see it all come crashing down, and it finally did with the biggest bitchslap in anime.

Honorable mentions Kazuma getting the steal skill and acquiring undergarments. The old wizard in handyman saito unsheathing his excalibur The overly cautious hero slapping the princess knight lady The wrestler that suplexed the princess in the 1st episode of that one where the wrestler opens up a pet store. I'm sure others may add the titles.

I love the story of GATE introducing a what-if scenario on how a country deals with a new world full of land and little to no pollution. There are also scenarios like enabling opportunists to try something uncanny to capture new world characters for interrogation. This anime did a great job having a modern set of characters interacting with medieval ones and the amount of flexing the military does is soo satisfying.. 😁😍

I LOVED what Rimiru did against that army. Because it wasn’t even just a coldly calculated act. They killed his people. and it pissed him SO MUCH he destroyed all before him lol.

That slime one has to be the most satisfying uno reverse moments in anime ever! Not only did he massacared an entire army and captured their leader, the 3 cocky otherworlders that helped the invasion into tempest also got dealt with by Rimuru's friends. And afterwards he managed to get even stronger by evolving into a demon lord and revive all of his fallen townsmen. I might be a bit sadistic for loving those scenes so much, but these bastards deserved every bit of what happened to them.

Cid is the living embodiment of Flex. Cid's mantra is "I Flex, therefore I am". 🤣

Bit of a flex in a different way, but I loved the final fight of World's Finest Assassin when he dropped a ROD FROM GOD on that guy. When I watched that episode and he created a specifically tungsten rod, I audibly went "Oh my god he's doing the thing."

Honestly, Shadow vs Beatrix & Iris was just savage. My number 1 favorite moment ASIDES from the ASMR “I… AM……!” was when Shadow took ONE step and everything went silent and appeared behind Beatrix in the blink of an eye.

I think the coldest flex still has to be Rimuru's Merciless skill. The kanji for the skill is "心無者" or more literally, "the one without [a] heart" which just adds on to exactly how cold the skill is. The synchronized sound of all solders fallen just hits different. That felt more similar to when I read Overlord LN where Ainz used "Ia shub niggurath". The description of the fight was more brutal than the anime did.

When I saw Megiddo for the first time I was still pretty shaken after the attack on Tempest. I was sad, shocked and angry at Falmuth… so when I watched the slaughter of Megiddo, I was stunned and in awe. It felt justified… and then at the harvest festival I cried out of sheer relief. Probably one of my favourite moments in anime just because of the emotional roller coaster it puts you through

I think part of the reason why we love it is because it can be a great set up to a story and a natural way of explaining to new world the main character and the audience have been thrown into. Plus when they do an isekai right we can end up with a banger like “Overlord”. I feel the biggest problem with isekai is even if the author creates a wonderful world and idea they end up making the main character to over powered or to loved and “smart” to the point that they don’t feel like people and you’re just watching a show about a perfect person that can’t do any wrong. However with a show like “The Eminence In Shadow” starts with an over powered character it’s still entertaining because he still has goals and getting stronger isn’t the point and he wants to be the perfect background character during the day and a final boss at night. Making it more so about him creating the perfect story for himself and the audience. Well that’s my point of view basically you can agree or not that’s ok.

Ainz’ casual massacre of 70,000 men with one spell that proceeds to summon 5 eldritch horrors, then demanding that the now petrified army of the empire ‘applaud his supreme power’, is still one of if not my favourite flex of sheer unadulterated power

Ainz making 70,000+ soldiers just drop dead instantly, then summoning 5 monstrosities that then proceeds to crush over 100,000 more, then showing his true form whilst demanding that his allies applaud his magnificence as though it were all a glorious show is arguably peak flexing. Rimuru made his enemies tremble in fear. Ainz made his allies do so.

I love the orbital strike in Arfureta. Total "You done goofed." Moment.

My favorite part of Rimuru's flex actually happens after the initial attack. He confronts the king of the attacking nation and when said king acts like an arrogant bastard, Rimuru shuts him up by cutting off his arm. It's so satisfying

Rimarus Awakening is my favorite moment in the show and is one I replay over and over every once in a while. And this is making me want to re watch it and replay it a few times

I know it's not in this level, but in Overlord when Ainz is in the arena against the adveturers and removes his ring so that the magician girl can feel his power and she ends throwing up is a nice flex as well.

just the simple scene of the guys talking about how they would kill a dragon is enough to make me wanna rewatch gate. also how the mage gets better because she gained advanced knowledge in chemistry and the elements, just so good

one of my fav flexes is Rimuru's vs the army of 20,000 because he showed them and all the other kingdoms why you don't want to piss him off, he also took away their magic with an anti-magic area, then he says cool lines especially "May the Wrath of the Gods Pierce You" before firing off Megiddo.

As someone who plays Persona and knows that one of the max dmg spells you can get (aside form DLC only ones and Lucifer's exclusive "Morning Star" ability) is called Megidolaon, I knew exactly what was going on when Rimuru used it. I find that scene so freaking cool because I'd been waiting for Rimuru to snap since he's nice, calm, and collected most of the time.

in the mundane mann fights cid doesnt really flex his power but more his skill as a swordsman, and he often complains in the novels that he hates the fencing in the new world because it is too primitive.

One of my favorite flexes is Ainz making the empire a vassal state. Poor Demiurge got flexed so hard when he admited he could not imagine how to do it so fast.

Rimumu's flex was cool and pleasing, but I think Shuna has the more surprising flex against Adalman because it's not expected. She never shows combat ability before we finally get to see what she can do, and while it's more of a "Nah, this is mine now" ability, it's awesome to see best girl show she's just as capable as the other Kijin.

Rimaru's onslaught on that invading army gave me chills, it also reminded me of that moment in Rick and Morty where Rick warns that secret service guy not to touch him or he'd die "what kind of death?" "The instant kind!"

Got to love Youjo Senki the animation blending in with the CGI is nice, and the story is amazing, especially the character building Tanya went through. Can't wait for more uploads :}

How about demon lord claymans execution? He reached a level of power higher than he has ever had before,after getting beat up, it was his protagonist moment,and then his biggest attack was absorbed and he was made a fool of in front of an audience he was forced to realize never respected him. He had mind acceleration forcibly applied to him by rimuru and wasbeaten with fists for what FELT like months. He tried to keep up bravado,that he will come back to life and threaten,but got told his soul will be eaten too. Then he begged for help from those not there. All in front of an audience.

It's still a long ways away from animating, but I think the biggest flex in the Tensuraverse was when the Empire attacked. And instead of killing them, Rimuru actually RESURRECTED the dead soldiers of the empire.

Honestly, Rimuru reviving so many people is probably the bigger flex.

For me one of best moments is Cid when he steps forward, and disappeared and silence. It was so great animated. And we can't forget about Tsukimichi, this one attack... "Wise Man's Grandchild" have few moments when he flexes without noting it, and it was great. "Death March" have few this moments too, but sad that anime is so short, LN is giving so much more and he still didn't learn ;)

Rimuru's biggest, coldest flex? The absolutely chilling way in which he promised his adversary - the one responsible for attack on his city: "Your death will not be easy." And it wasn't.

that ep when Rimuru became so cold sent chills down my spine, you could tell the level of anger he was holding just in his face alone and the few choices of words he said then hopping to fighting with Claymen you could see that same anger but it turned into pure hatred towards Claymen I can't wait for the new season to come I've read the LN and oh boy I can't wait

Death March Rhapsody - Satou One Shoting that bulked up Demon Lord with a single slash, was one of my Personal Favorites Flexes.

My vote has to go to Arifureta during the invasion on the capitol. The demons were confident that they could win with their army, but it was pretty much over when Hajime jumps into the arena and sees that his friend was dead. This man has pulled out miniguns, rocket launchers, railguns, a god damn nuclear sub in the past but all he pulls out is this little glass orb. Which turned out to be the controller for a god damn orbital laser as he proceeds to give the army of monsters and invading demons a taste of the hammer of dawn. Like, bruh-

Very glad to see Tanya on this list, definitely one of my favorites. I feel that Ainz scaring his allies with his power is a pretty big flex, along with summoning five cute baby goats.

Rimuru still has 1 big af flex that happened in the latest season where he just DELETES a powrful af demon lord with no problem at all, and he also summoned and controled an ancient demon with no problem at all

Never heard of Gate but need to check it out now. "Saving 80,000 Gold in Another World" had a similar flex where Mitsuha brought a Private Military Company into another world to help her fight off an invading army. The enemy had spent years and a fortune to assemble an army of monsters and the world's first wyvern air cavalry and it was priceless seeing them all get wiped out in moments by modern weapons. Cid's flexes really make me love Eminence in Shadow. That final battle carries more impact when you really understand what it does to the Princess. She's someone who has known power all her life, naturally being politically powerful as a princess and being so gifted with a sword had her besting instructors at a young age. She's never known what it's felt like to be powerless. She got her first taste during her first encounter with Alpha but now against Cid, she knows what absolute powerlessness feels like. Based on some spoilers I've read about future story arcs, it's going to make things VERY interesting with the Princess. Rimeru taking out that army is so awesome. I absolutely love that one clip you showed where a guy was running from the king's tent and just got struck down. This guy, the General, was running out to execute a plan that would sacrifice the remaining soldiers but hopefully get the king and himself out of there alive. King was optimistic and hopeful as he watched his General run out, only for him to suddenly and unceremoniously drop dead. The King's breakdown afterwards was priceless. As for additional flexes, a favorite of mine probably not mentioned much is at the end of "Tsukimichi - Moonlit Fantasy" where Makoto is fighting against a powerful warrior woman and her dragon companion so he unleashes all of his power on them to "annoy them". The end result was a massive blast of water and ice magic that not only created a new lake but froze the human and demon armies that were waiting to clash once Makoto's battle was concluded. Don't think he intended to end that battle before it began but it was still a hell of a flex.

This video just gave me clarity into and the perspective that Isekai is like a drug, in the way that we chase our first experience.

I feel like Rimerus flex is so impactful is because... its cathartic. Rimeru felt incredibly responsible for what happened to the village by not being there and having the arbitrary do no harm rule. And then we as the viewer find out there wasn't really even a reason they attacked Tempus it was mostly prejudice against Monsters and pure greed. And for Rimeru to not only get revenge but to bring back the fallen AND to get stronger to protect everyone better they're motivations feel so much more palpable and real.

Im a bit disappointed you didn't cover some of the reasons rimuru used Megiddo specifically. The light novel explains that the army had a barrier that blocked magic attacks. The genius about Megiddo is that the only magic involved is the wayer lenses which in and of itself are harmless and thus pass through the barrier. It uses magic to great a magnifying glass which is akin to striking a match instead of casting a fireball.

Talking about the eminence in shadow id like to mention ep 14 when (around the 6 min mark i think) aurora (aka diabolos, yknow the 'most powerful being in existence') says "How could anyone be allowed this much power?" Just goes to show by how much Cid overpowers everyone.

To get old school, Lina Inverse's casting of Giga Slave(I think in season 2 of Slayers). She later seals the spell off because casting it risks destroying the world. It's enormously overpowered compared to its predecessor, Dragon Slave, which is merely able to destroy a city in a single cast (and is, worryingly, Lina's signature spell.)

For those unfamiliar, in Reincarnated as a Slime the World is like a living thing. It has a voice, and it bestows skills not unlike how Aincrad does in Sword Art. If you're the fastest thing alive, you have a special skill, etc. If you can propel water from your mouth at a high rate, you can eventually get a skill that allows full manipulation of water. So Rimuru became so efficient at killing and causing fear, he got a Skill that caused instant death if you lost morale. In a world where there are other demon lords, he's the only one who caused that skill to manifest.

I honestly loved when you said So in honor of our lord and savior nux I laughed my head off

I think one of my favourite parts in slime is how Rimuru dealt with Clayman, before Clayman awakened Rimuru didn't even want to fight him because he would be seen as bullying the weak, so he handed the job to Shion who decimated him, when Clayman finally awakened Rimuru decided he would actually fight him, but aside from using Beelzebub and the barrier to remove claymans chances of escaping, he used thought acceleration, a skill he's had for ages and for a while didn't seem very important, considering hakurou completely destroyed kyoya who was boasting about thought acceleration, then he used his bare fists to beat Clayman up, no skills other than thoght acceleration, just regular punches, even as an awakened demon lord Clayman didn't deserve Rimuru to use his full power

A nice flex of mine, is in episode 7 of Parallel World Pharmacy, when a member of the holy church leads Pharma outside of the kingdom, to be confronted by battle priests, who heard of his godlike powers. Pharrma's flex was awesome, as he easily dispelled every attack without breaking a sweat, and ended up humbling them. That is one of my favorites.

My favorite flex is Rudeus casting Cumulonimbus. I don't know how he scales to other characters in this video but that scene of him casting the cloud magic still give me chills.

The biggest one I can think of is the latest Slime Vol 15. No spoilers, but woahh

My heart is split between Rimuru and Ainz but there's something about Overlord that just gives me chills and an indescribable high. Maybe because of its dark and twisted sense of humor often portrayed by Momonga's Ainz persona (and its appearance) as well as the denizens of Nazarick, particularly Albedo and Demiurge. The flexes Ainz and Nazarick did, from scheming up to just full blown showcase of magical or military power is why I would put it at the top. Do not get me wrong Rimuru and his army is strong and we do not know nor are we discussing who's going to win against who, but TenSura just doesn't give me enough of that feeling, except that time when Rimuru overwhelmed and humiliated Clayman.

A big flex from The Rising of the Shield Hero unfortunately got cut in season 1. Naofumi's confrontation with Isuki about Risha was amazing.

Great video; adding additional context from the manga's to aid to the story gave these moments an even greater feel.

The thing about rimurus flex is that the world gave him the skill merciless to kill them faster as a mercy to the people he was gonna kill so they didn't have to die one by one but could all die at once

A nice flex i still remember from a good isekai was weirdly from the bookworm isekai. At the end of the last season right after getting adopted Mein decided to give everyone a blessing as a farewell, even in the downgraded version of the anime it was pretty good, she basically channeled a new analogue blessing spell praying to all the main gods (when normally you would just use a specific god you have affinity with for a specific blessing, because people usually aren't liked by more than one, and even in the case of meeting the requirements of more than one favor with the gods that would still just break the spell), on top of it not breaking, this bless ended up being so strong that it's effects would still have ramifications towards the end of the series many years later. She had other flexes too like regrowing plant life in the barren area a bit earlier and much bigger flexes later in the LN, but the anime hasn't caught up to those points yet. Other notable flexes: in tsuki michi, where the Makoto released his power after Sofia blocked the godess from watching him, thinking that it would weaken him, and then at the end almost wiped out both armies at war, completely changing the landscape and spawning a new religion about him with one attack just because he was annoyed that the two surprise attacked him and cut of his finger.

I dunno, Myne single-handedly bringing printing to a backwater duchy from the boonies and also coming up with the revolutionary idea of getting different workshops/guilds to work together to create things was big flex in my opinion. Or you know, communicating with commoners instead of just demanding them of this and that, pretty op if I do say so myself

My favorite flex isn't from an isekai but a fantasy. It was the scene where Anos Voldigoad said: *Did you really think killing me would be enough to make me die?* Man just said won't die from being killed

Megido was such an amazing scene, when I first watched it I was so amazed i rewatched it multiple times, and the mention of this scene in this video made me shake im happiness, idk why.

im glad you made this video, throws me back to memory lane with Gate, the first anime that catapulted me into this medium. i watched it back in October 2019. also, for Cid, rimuru and Tanya as well!

Seeing "Gate" get mentioned made me incredibly happy. Nightvision goggles are incredibly effective against imperial enemies of the past. I definitely enjoy a lot of isekai, and there are some amazing flexes from OP characters. Most of mine are from the manga adaptations though, and I hope to some day see them brought to anime. My current favourite flex is from "Chillin' in Another World with Level 2 Super Cheat Powers". MC is fairly docile, only using his powers to stop fights by breaking the will of his opponents. He doesn't want to kill anyone. However, when a demon of nearly unparalleled powers shows up and his beloved takes an attack that was meant for him, the MC snaps and wrecks the demon, again and again, telling the demon that he'll continually be healed until the MC's rage has been satisfied. The MC even coldly asks the demon how long does he think that'll be as they're both practically immortal and the rage runs deep. To which the demon begs for forgiveness while continuously coughing up blood only to be healed yet again.

Yep, this earned a subscription! MOAR PLZ. And Slime is my favorite anime of all time.

My favorite flex (if you could call it that way) in Youjo Senki was Tanya's unit parading in Moskva a short after the Russy declared war to Imperium. I would say attacking enemy capital is her signature move in the anime. :)

The Eminence in Shadow fight was extended 10 minutes longer than it shouldve been? It was one of the greatest looking fights ive seen, not animation wise but coreography and flow. It felt full of purpose and not too long. I did start reading the manga but it was highly inferior so I assume the show improved on a shorter fight in the manga

Eminence in Shadow has been one of my favorite Isekai's in a long time besides Reincarnated as a Slime and Overlord. As far as flexes I gotta say that Cid's flex against the princess and Beatrix and Rimuru's flex against the western army are my 2 favorites.

Honestly the fact that Rimuru was able to keep up with Milim, one of the eldest and most powerful demon lords in existance, during their combat shows just how powerful he really became. Milim may not have actually been trying to kill him, but she went after him all the same to keep up the appearance. At the same time, Rimuru went full defense, making sure he would not harm Milim, so he wasn't fighting in earnest either. I think that an actual death battle between them could actually end up with quite a few maps being rendered useless.

I would say a fave of mine is Misumi's from Tsukimichi,when he released the arrow at the end.What makes it such a flex is that he had and possible still don't know how destructive it was,thinking it would only cause a small explosion,but it destroyed armies and changed the landscape.While not in the anime,it also instilled the survivors with fear,calling him the oppossite of the goddess that rules the world,someone that punishes them when they go astray.Misumi has no idea about that as well

One interesting note is that in Gate the vassal states weren't given any information because with so much of its own army destroyed the empire was worried about the vassals rebelling after finding out. If the vassal army took the gate again, it was a win but if they were wiped out it was also a win of sorts for the empire. The best case scenario for the empire was for the vassals to take the gate but to have been so mauled doing so that they'd be in no position to take advantage of the empires weakness afterwards.

Rimuru's massacre was so devastating, they had to blame it on a dragon (Veldora) to make it believable.

Tanya's my favourite isekai protagonist, because the show is mostly an exploration of her mind, which is far more alien to me than a world with magic. Her best flexes imo are those of her rational and pragmatic (or psychopathic) views. For example she says she doesn't like war, because it's "unproductive and wasteful" and never mentions the loss of human lives. I agree with the author that the translation is wrong, because she isn't evil per se. She doesn't enjoy hurting people. She just doesn't care about human suffering and will hurt or kill anyone if her job requires it.

Flex wise for Tanya, recording a full parade video inside the enemy's capital stands out even more to me :D

Thanks for all your great videos @AniNews! There has been many great flexes in anime since the start of it all, but in my opinion, it is going to be hard to top Cid/Shadow's flex in ep20. Not to mention season 1 as whole was so well done in animation, sound and JP voice actors. Speaking of Gate, the best scene of the anime has got to be the "Flight of the Valkyries"

The whole thing about GATE…it gives you the perspective of being an Aztec when the Spanish conquistadors enter your realm…it’s about the same. When the Princess talks about “lowering myself to kiss their feet…” she realized the empire was no match…not even on the same playing field. GATE…IMHO…is still one of the best isekais out there! 👍🏻😁
