I'm glad Arknights community as a whole is close-knitted to this point. Not only this whole situation was entertaining af but it helped Arknights relevance as well. Excellent job, yall have my respect.
Proof that Genshin pandering to the normie and casual crowd was a mistake and just brings further stigmatization to weeb/gacha games in general. Heck, even Honkai community in general disassociates themselves from the Genshin community. Marketing anime games for normies is just bad civ.
I love how the AK community (i myself am included but had no idea of this controversy) that they at each other's throat FOR EVERY SINGLE THING (a great example of this was the inclusion of Alts in the game) but bruh i love this whole movement that they pulled out.
@@praisethesun.praisedeussol6051 Say I run a car rim shop. My customers love the service my shop provides. We don't do anything else. Just rims. We know our craft. We get you in and out in a jiff because rims is all we do. Now let's say I try to broaden my horizon, now I do tune-up, oil changes. Heck, my shop now even does transmission as well. But my old customers now have to wait longer or get subpar service because I'm catering to more people now. My old customers loved loud, explicit hip-hop in the shop and we even had few pictures of pinup girlies on the floor. Now we got rid of that. But now that I deal with with women and families, my old customers started going to a competitor next city over. So now I lost my old customers. Also the new ladies we get coming in to get their oil changed are complaining my workers are tatted up and they still sing the songs we aren't allowed to play anymore. So even though I'm making more money now, i lost my old clientele and these new customers can find someone else because even though I changed my business, it's still in essence my old shop with my old workers and their old habits. Broadening is fine, but make sure you understand your core demographic. Otherwise if you wind up trying to please everyone, you end up pleasing no one.
Arknights community is extremely United. No matter what character they create everyone will appreciate it cuz DAMN THE ART IS LEGENDARY. You rarely see attention to details like they do. I'm proud to be part of the arknights community.
I really envy this. I wish the Genshin community was as united even for a little bit. I get it's because it is so big but man I can't read anything in the community without wanting to explode.
What's ironic is you can call them Degenerates, yet they will admit it, be proud of it and won't be hypocrites about it. And that honesty makes them look like Saints.
I took a look at Azure Lane a few times and I really don't get why people call it super fanservicy. The loading screens and the "room" scenes or costumes are a bit but its nothing really. This coming from someone who wouldn't mind a strict religiously minded game. And I wouldn't really count loading screens as a real part of a game. Like I would argue that FGO has more service due to some of the final ascension art. If Azure Lane really wanted to be servicy they should have unlockable art as a reward for focusing on each character like with FGO's final ascension art. That said I do wish Genshin had this sort of feature since otherwise I end up just rolling for cool characters (sigh) instead of waifu collecting as is the correct natural order of things.
@@SheepyPanda95 that's why I hate the fact that genshin impact became more main stream, if it wasn't for the normies like 99% of the fanbase would be degens, it was made for them and they should have it in my opinion. @@SheepyPanda95 i am not a huge Azur Lane person, but god damn if i don't love Enterprise and the entire fanbase, they are based as bell, they owe up to everything.
Listen. All I know as a Genshin player that occasionally peruses Twitter, is that people are down bad for the Genshin girls. From everything from feet to vore, I'm pretty sure I've seen it for all of the female characters at this point. So someone clearly likes those designs.
Contextually, Arknights is more modern-dystopian in terms of its aesthetics, so there are operators in suits, lab gear or uniforms. More archaic wear like Blemi's armor and Saga's robes tend to look real too. Granted Arknights is more subtle in its cultural inspiration, but the nearls being based off winged hussars, Saga having a Nioh on her e2 art, Lee's pallete being a reference to how carp can become dragons, Phantom being a phantom of the opera reference, etc, does show that the devs can represent that stuff. Chalter may exist, but she's a rarity, and most AK summer skins have tasteful art, like Angelina's looks so beautiful tbh. And the real driving influence of AK's designs is the animal, and HG communicates what animal operators are based off well.
Even in chalter's case she is literally hot serious girl but it's summer and she is in a tropical resort, if she WASN'T wearing a swimsuit it would be even more weird
Imo Chalter's design and story surrounding her isn't bad in a vacuum. She's just out of place as a playable unit in AK with everything else they've established.
Chalter is litterally the one exception in arknights, and thats 1) only really her E2 art, her E1 is perfectly fine, 2) everyone disliked her look when she was first revealed and 3) even with all that its still a pretty modest design all things considered, looking like an actual bikini you would see someone wear at the beach rather than the borderling fetish-ware you see in some other games. not that there is anything wrong with other games, its just nice how... restrained AK is in general.
On top of that every nation in AK take inspiration from different countries cultures, societal living conditions, governing style, and hierarchies at various points in history used as their central theme. It isn't blatantly obvious representation, but the thematic depth is some of the deepest in games in general. Constantly addressing various controversial and devisive parts of history in a natural way that adds to the story.
Arknights characters are far from sexualized, in fact outside of summer uniforms they are undersexualized. They all have jackets, everyone has jackets, too many fricken jackets. Its like its permanently cold on Terra because everyone is wearing a jacket. And then there is Mudrock who is best girl, wears a full blown hazmat suit that hides all her proportions. Only in the final ascension do you get to even see her. Thats how conservative they are with looks.
@@shazbeet But most of the cast is already exposed. At that point they are just wearing the jackets to cover up their crystaline scars so that they wouldn't get singled out for being infected. And then there is Reuinion who all wear jackets and are proud to be infected. You see what I mean, Jacket frenzy.
People, I do urge you to follow the idea that "If Twitter hates it, it's probably good". I've been an Arknights player for a year now and it is without a shadow of a doubt the best, most player and F2P friendly gacha I have ever played. Everything about Arknights is great! The lore? fantastic. The gameplay? Surprisingly fun (it's technically a tower defense game but good). The art? GODLY! The music? Ridiculously good!
Only one year? My friend, I never thought I'd see another Doctor who played as long as I have. I also joined like a year ago and I still play the game like an addiction. Also, Ch'en and Mountain are like my favorite Operators to date.
@@kotominekirei7330 that’s sad to hear… I’ve gotten stuck several times myself, at best you should just get the 2-star passing and go on with the story, and come back later when you’ve lvl’d up/maxed out some characters.
Other gacha games community's be like.. Arknights: Should we tell 'em? AzurLane: Nah, let them mald.. BlueArchive: have anyone ever talk to them recently? FGO: Nope.. GirlsFrontline: Nope, not in a million years. HI3rd: now all of you see what i have to deal with on a daily basis? Its exhausting.. Genshin: *REEEE INTENSIFIED*
The settings of the two are also vastly different, Arknights is sort of a post-apocalyptic world, so it makes sense for characters to look rogue-ish and battle ridden, while Genshin is more medieval and not about war so much, the only exception would be Inazuma with the civil war story, and even then, that takes heavy inspiration from feudal Japan
@Ricx 58 Where is this "decades away" coming from? I believe that they could probably be done with the 7 nations in about 3 to 4 years because they've gotten Inazuma done a little before the anniversary and they've recently released Sumeru wich is like a little over a month before the 2nd anniversary not to mention Dragonspine, Enkanomiya, and the Chasm. So they'll probably be done in like 3-4 years if they keep going the same pace that they are now.
@Ricx 58 ngl, i quit honkai shortly after thus spoke apocalypse, i think that would be the peak for me, i loved a lot of the characters dearly and been in the community since en release, but man do i not have the time and money to keep playing it.
@@topdragon8164 HI3. The first popular game they made is still being milked is true tho. They dragged the story so to prolong the game life. New features basically becoming more and more grindy. Back when I played it, sometimes I thought "Why do I keep playing this?" The pace for you getting a completely built character won't exceed the game's pace when releasing new meta, powercreep characters. It became a game where you either go all out in spending money or become a genuine casual player which I doubt you will.
From a comment on another video regarding this topic. "The only thing hypersexual about Arknights is how CC events always fucks everyone up." Because Contingency Contract/CC is our hardest endgame mode, which tests the limits of the game's characters to such extent it causes the players to have real-life sanity damage.
Just saw another vid about this topic >< I wanna say literally 99% of the characters are not sexualized. Their designs/skins mostly suit their lore, the era or what event they are in. Their artwork is extremely amazing, even the skins. Most of them are not sexualized. It's the art itself that is captivating. *Also it's nice to see they handled the situation in a sarcastic way.
Yeah, seriously the only characters i can think of that have less clothes also have a reason to lmao, like schwars who literally lives (or rather lived) in hawaii
I would go as far as to say none of the art is hypersexualized. All of it makes sense within the context of the game. Chalter is wearing a swimsuit cause she is literally on a vacation in a tropical paradise. Schwarz is literally from Siesta which is hot as hell and explains her base outfit. Compare this to Genshin, fucking Mona who is a astrologist wears a modified bunny suit. Astesia, on the other hand wears a very tame and elegenat dress in the same roll... and at least she as equipment related to the job she is doing....
The only time they "sexualized" the characters is when they announced summer skins. But even that the artworks are still very tame and actually creative and some of them are even elegant. Some of my favorite summer skins are ceobe, skadi, silverash, red, and matterhorn
Didnt the design kinda fit the theme of the game. Like post-future-apocalypse. I played it a bit and the design of all Arknights character seriously beautiful.

Honestly, I’m pretty sure it’s because that person attacked the wrong character since Namie, the artist who made that pink cat girl, is well-liked by the community because of her outgoing personality. Namie treats her characters like children and it’s very sweet (and hilarious).
i play arknights on the daily and ive never thought any of the characters are sexualized. the designs are extremely tame compared to even things you see on tv airing anime. plus its just a good game. not very demanding even of free players. and the story is great. glad the game is relevant.
Yeah, I have plenty of skins and quite amount 6 stars operators that peoples can mistake me for a whale (in fact most of my 6 stars are bought from store) not once I spend real life money in it.
It's really upsetting that the user chose to rag on Goldenglow's design out of all the operators. Namie is so nice and wholesome and absolutely adores her children (Goldenglow and Mizuki) and will go to war for them-
"Hypersexualization" he said. Here I am really mesmerized by how Namie-mama designed Goldenglow and Mizuki so much. 🤧♥️ Poor soul, attacking a community and the game just to be blinded by his ego.
@@hikigayamurakamo9340 Precisely, dear. Though, he judged Goldenglow's design, per se. To digress, I highly suspect he has not played the game yet to emanate this blatant accusation. I'd entertain a debate but his stance is elusive and emaciated from the game's actual content. If I were to understand his meaning of "hypersexualization", that would equate to almost 80% of characters in-game are either given revealing clothing or incentivizing skins depicting fetishes. That's what I understood to his "hypersexualization". Feel free to correct me, everybody. I'm pretty tired writing this comment and knowing this tweet at late night.
Honestly, this situation was funny and an amazing moment where instead of arguing or some other dumb shit, we all just sent *ingame* art of the characters (and some just wanted to show off which characters they built but anyhow, this was a entertaining situation)
If you go more into the thread, people began comparing designs of ak and gi characters that have the same roles like Blemishine vs jean (both are knights) Astesia vs mona (Astrologists) Projekt red vs rosaria (Assassins) Specter vs rosaria (nuns) The thread of comparing characters with the same or similar roles is huge, yet throughout most of it, the ak characters have designs that fit their back story and role and doesn't sexualize them to give them a look on how they would dress before they becames operators, then there's genshin
Yeah like, how tf can you tell that Jean, Mona, and Rosaria are supposed to be from their designs alone? They all mostly look like fetish material, like literally the biggest outcrier is Mona, she is supposed to be an Astrologist with a witch theme, yet they have her wear basically a skin tight body suit that has highlights for the legging and sleeves, and shows off her curves? Bruh she looks more like a playboy stripper than a mage
I played Arknights for a short amount of time but usually the "horny" is pretty much tucked in the skin, which is expected considering the setting is a post apocalyptic shit show and if everything were doom & gloom 24/7 people would eventually get tired of the same shit.
As Azur Lane main I just can't be anything but horribly dissapointed with Arknight skins, such a letdown. Even Wai Fu looked cute in her promo this event but the actual skin itself is godugly. At this point I wish they swapped their promoart designers and skindesigners.
@@imboredsohelpme6118 One thing that comes to mind is the Hazmat suit for SadCat (Jessica if i remember? was a year since i played) and even most swimsuit skins are quite tame compared to most other games if i rememmber. Probably the most horny thing Arknights did is give me Tail-Fluffing fantasies.
Wanna know a secret? Most of the Genshin fanbase that isn't under twitter echo chambers laugh at these kind of Genshin fans too. Imagine picking Arknights of all things to call "hypersexualized". Given they are usually designed in tactical-like clothing, you gonna call women in military fatigues hyper-sexualized too? So yeah, this person got mocked by not just arknights but the non-twitter genshin fandom too. Hopefully one day we can laugh these crazies out of our fandom.
I play both games, and I completely agree with you. The Genshin community is made up of mostly idiots, and then some sane people, like me and my friends, who don't interact with the rest of the fandom. Arknights is just chill.
@@discountivy845 Yeah arknights has always been a chill fandom. Sadly as a content creator for genshin I cannot exactly escape genshin twitter without giving up my passion since thats where I primarily post my art and videos. Its crazy how it got to this though huh? If you dont ship the same, think the same, like a certain character, or just enjoy the game and characters as intended, genshin twitter will give you hate. They always do. I hope these people get the therapeutic help they need, truly. There are more important things in this world then genshin ships or character skin tones.
I love how despite the 2k quote retweets, none of them have involved death threats or something similar (so far) Proof that the majority of Arknights community have a larger brain than the Genshin Twitter mob
This just goes to show you that their only argument for any series is "oversexualizarion" regardless of the clothing design. You can have a Saudi Arabian inspired game with women covered up completely and these jackasses would complain about the eyeslits revealing too much skin like Christian Busy Bodies.
Because they knew reaction would be "Yeah so? Deal with it" If they tried to attack something like Azur Lane. Players like it because of that. This was just a spiteful attempt at clout through a bad take. Probably starving for attention.
i love and play both games everyday, but arknights definitely has way better character designs. however, bc arknights takes place during a completely different time period, and everything is 2d, it's easier to be creative also, arknights' characters are not at all sexualized imo. like most of them are actually fairly covered up. there are outfit options that are more revealing, but you don't have to use those outfits if they make you uncomfortable
The main reason my waifu is my waifu is because she's the most grounded character, well written, and her spine is a crystal dragon stand. Who WOULDNT love her. Arknight isn't that sexual in gameplay anyways. It's depressing. Did you hear any of the Russian songs like Requiem. Arknights is amazing. You should add some of Monster Sirens songs to your Playlist, there at this point I'd bet, have to be a song that you at least somewhat like
No harassment that went too far, no death threats, didn't notice any slurs. Just character designs and a way for the game to be pushed into relevance, thank you for being so civilized lol
There were definitely slurs (Not the pure hate kind), but because of how common it's being used in the internet, it might as well be a norm. Rest are very accurate though Honestly a miracle to see this dripfest in Twitter of all places.
Bruh, Arknights designs overall scream "cool" for both female and male characters, you kind of need to go to the alternative skins to find something "sexual" like Utage's Swimsuit, but in the base content there's not a single trace of "hypersexualization" that is the work of the artists. And for the love of god, this person is comparing the base art of Goldenglow (a female operator) and Ayato (a male character) like, well, that doesn't seem like a proper comparison, at least compare female/female designs.
Welcome to azur lane we have Horny (all the summer outfits, plus a bunch more) Badass (retrofit warspite, Washington, retrofit ark royal) Cute (most loli boats) Wedding dresses (z23 has a very good one but girl ayanami what happend) Cool and casual (most new years skins, specially kimono Baltimore, ark royal, Hood, bartender Bismarck, maid Queen Elizabet, Cleveland in a suit)

About that hypersexualization thing ( i dont even know if that is a real word), it is dumb and based on the writer's anger towards comparing some fictional character with another one. Also, arknights art for characters has almost always been related to its personality, story, temperament etc. Also, skins are made to be looked at, so they need to be sort-of attractive, right?
Arknight's artistically treats all of its characters so well to the point that it's by far my least looked up gacha on the forbidden websites. I dunno what it is, they're just all so serious. I can't take the lewds seriously. Even the Blaze summer skin, while dripping with hotness, isn't really 'lewdable' to me. She's just very cool. I dunno. Arknights is pretty legendary with its art. Now that they're getting LIve 2D artworks implemented over time it's becoming even more awesome. == Also, my sisters fawning over the Matterhorn summer skin when it came out isn't a crime, it's a blessing. The man deserves it.
I agreed with you, in other gacha games i can see or imagine some lewd things to the character, yet in AK it's almost impossible for me to see those characters lewdly, they are only in cool category.
Even if the gameplay isnt your style, at least check out the music. It has a very wide variety of genre from Rock, to Jazz, to techno/dubstep, to russian lullabies
It is very surprising that within 2000+ qrt, most of them is just showing how AK character design looks like and mocking the person at the same time. Unlike GI player where they sending a death threat to someone else. I'm very proud to be in Arknights community.
Over 2 thousand retweet’s and all of them with no death threats, no slander, just concrete point and pure sassiness, AK community just smoked him without being disrespectful
Is that how you interpreted that? Huh.. weird. I interpreted it as them not knowing Gold's name and just referring to her as "the AK character" instead rather than talking about the game as a whole. Maybe I'm just trippin and my English major is failing me yet again.
I highly doubt that. It's the internet. We're all behind monitors. I can be openly racist right now if wanted to and you nor anybody else can stop me, nor will I feel any kind of "regret" about it later on cause nobody who meets me irl will ever know I even made a racist remark in a random RU-vid comment section. That's kinda the reason *why* people online say the stupid things they say haha cause they know there's zero consequence behind doing so. Does it make it ok? Nope. Not at all, but thinking anybody is gonna regret saying something online when they have complete anonymity thanks to being behind a monitor is incredibly naive. Especially given how petty and hateful human beings can be.
As someone who grew up playing FPS games and watching anime, Arknights is one of the most aesthetically pleasing video games I have ever come across and if there was one thing I could do to make it something I'd play more often, I'd make it Cosmic Break. Saying that Genshin, a game with enemy designs more diverse and pleasing than the actual characters you roll for, has better character design and less sexualization than Arknights is one of the most egregious lies I've ever seen.
@@AlienXgamers Cosmic Break is definitely one of my favorite PC Games of all time, and I wish that it was more modern and didn't have a gacha attached to it, because the gameplay and idea is very good.

I never understood why sexualization is a bad thing. If I'm going to be looking at a character for an extended period of them they have to be good looking to me. It's only mysogynistic if only women are sexualized but itto's out there shirtless and nobody seems to care about that when mentioning sexualization of characters.
Oh no, having lewd artwork in a gacha is pretty much a given, even Arknights does have some (search eunectes) but the thing is that the guy did was put a bad claim towards the game that has the least sexualized designs out of the genre, specially in comparison to genshin
Arknights is legitimately one of the MOST conservative gacha I've ever played. Barely any sexualized designs. Sexy, sure, but not sexualized. Genshin is actually 2nd place IMO. There are way more gacha that turn up the sexualization to way over Genshin's standards.
And Azur Lane takes the first place lol. Seriously, i didn't believe Arknights were published by Yostar until i googled it up. No idea how Hypergryph managed to pull this and sell their game to such borderline porn publisher XD

My favourite comparison in the Quote Tweets was the person who compared Astesia to Mona. Both are astrologists. Astesia is very modest in her design, whereas Mona has literally been sexualized. That one really blew up in the guy's face.

As an arknights player they sexualize a of characters in terms of design. Often with skins. These were simply bad examples. However the character designs are generally pretty great and inspired by the great lore. I’d recommend playing it but warning: it’s very addictive.
Arknights has a lot going for it, excellent lore and a relevant story that delves into the meaning of conflict and price of ideals as well as the dilemma of dealing with a plague. The characters designs are of the highest quality (Let's face it Chalter is commonality in lesser gacha games.) The gacha is generous and most of the roster is not limited and not neccessary as the gameplay rewards those who are prepared, makes you feel immersed at the Doctor. There is good reason why Endfield tantalized a lot of us, a 3D game set in the AK universe...oh well...you guys could watch the anime or something coming in October.
Guys, Arknights is like one of the best franchises ever. The universe is literally about terminally ill people who get superpowers and fight because they’re actively discriminated in some countries. It’s got a feeling of Tacticool military style and they even made a collab with Rainbow Six Siege!
Not to mention STARSET made a song for Arknights, “Infected”. It’s a whole anthem for Arknights. If anything, means the story is dystopian and cyberpunk-like. They can’t OVERLY exaggerate on the sexualization, obviously it’s about the story and it’s dangers, it’s not all about fanservice. I love it when doctors and nurses fully cover themselves to protect them from infections, WE STAN armored doctors.
I don't play Arknights, but seeing some character design I can see that they aren't sexualized at all, I mean if that person see the Azur Lane characters what are going to do, get convulsions? Many AL Character are really really oversexualized, and I say as an AL player, but from my prospective is ok like this XD Genshin Impact, I don't know, don't seems lifeless, maybe more simple, but in this case can be what the developers wanted, so the characters can be easily cosplayed by anyone.
Fun fact: in case you dont know it yet a certain beeg person is one of the illustrators for arknight Strange coincidence that rosemary tweeter has a banana in her name
Arknight's character designs tends to have some sort of meaning and hint behind the design. This makes it much more pleasing to look at when you know the meaning or still discovering it. As for genshin's character design, I can't really say there's any meaning behind the design other than just looking nice... Or fitting the character's personality?
That's simply not true. There's an entire video on what inspirations were used for Xiao's design. Every design for every character in both games have some kind of inspiration / influence put into them. Most games do, in fact. Just a matter of whether or not the player cares enough about the design to do their research on the inspirations for the design in question.
Genshin designs are fine, but I think the characterization is weaker than Arknights. (Even tho I haven't played Arknights myself, but I heard many praises with the characters and writing in that game.)
This is the second time hero hei talks about AK since..... idk a year ago? The last time is about Platinum's VA. Well, i guess this shows how healthy the community is. Also, the thread has become a fashion show. Fascinating.
I love arknight character they are So drip, badass and Cool AF while being Adorable and Beautiful in their own way And look at their Tackticool Drip, if i have money i want to buy at least one of each
I'm not an arknights player (had it installed for a bit but my storage is bs so had to delete like 90% of the apps), but the artstyle and characters all look pleasing, and in genshin too (though I must say I don't have many girls as my favourites, and I find some design choices not to my preference, but to each their own, I guess), and I just don't get this? Like, I really enjoy good outfits, colour schemes, etc., no matter the game, I can look at the details for hours just thinking how beautiful they are, how they connect and create the full picture? smh people on this platform have no appreciation for aesthetic Have a good day guys, and wish you getting a character you want from gacha in the game of your choice
