Welcome to the Channel,
After the AFL season the All Australian side faces off against Ireland in the International Rules series and these are some of the best moments.
If you think i missed any big moments in the history of these two sides then let me know down below.
In the International rules a shot in goal is worth a 6-pointer, a shot over the net is worth 3 points and a score between the two point posts is worth just 1 point.

I actually miss watching these International Rules series as an Irish person. Think it's still pretty cool to see a hybrid of two completely different codes of football being unified into one. I mean, yeah, despite its flaws...I really do hope it's brought back soon enough. Don't want it to go down the same path as the Railway Cup!

@J G There is a lot of catching up to do for Football in Australia. Aussie Rules and Rugby League is still ahead. But each to there is own. Not everyone call Football/Soccer greatest sport on Earth. It is easiest to get in, but not all call it the best, if it was that then there would be only one sport on the planet

From an American, I like this game. It seems so exciting and I don’t know who to pull for Ireland? Or Australia? I would say Australia because it seems their athletes would have a harder transition into this game from Australia football. It seems this game mimics more of what the Irish are used to but maybe I’m wrong. I’m just a RU-vid junkie American who only knows what I know 🇺🇸
@BarbellFooty
@BarbellFooty 2 года назад
it is a harder transition but AFL athletes are full time athletes while the gaelic players are part time and usually have other jobs. It's usually fairly even but recently the aussies have put them to bed.

Imagine the USA playing a hybrid basketball game on a different shaped court, with a different shaped ball and different scoring just so that country could compete. Play this game on an Australian rules oval, or with an Australian rules oval ball ball or the level of physical contact Australian rulew has and the Iriah couldnt compete. Their size field, ther round ball, their non contact and their bitching when tbey still lose. Stupid game.

Don't forget the Aussies are paid professionals but the Irish are amateur athletes that have other jobs like teacher, builder, banker etc
@slightlyokok
@slightlyokok 3 года назад
You should have used inverted commas in your description of their “jobs” we all know the players are training constantly. The job thing is a scam to keep the sport amateur, essentially ghost positions on a salary where they show up an hour a week. Though in the old days I think your point is correct. I actually think these international rules matches may have had something to do with making the Gaa lads more professional without officially being actually said out loud.
@superbad3591
@superbad3591 3 года назад
@@slightlyokok so every county team with a panel of 30 players is running this "scam" your talking about, Ive worked with several county players and theres actually one working on a building site across the road from me 😂 some of the Dublin players might be doing fuck all but your massively exaggerating
@slightlyokok
@slightlyokok 3 года назад
@@superbad3591 so you agree. My point holds water. You agree that some Dublin players might be doing fuck all. You’re correct I was over exaggerating. I’d say the reality is it’s the counties that have good teams and good players. So I’m thinking your work mate was from a shit team and/or shite himself to be on a building site. Did he put work in? Or did he just stand there with a clipboard and go on mysterious 4 hour lunch breaks?

I wonder if international rules football would work in the United States. I’m sure there is a way to Americanize the sport to make it work. Might have to change some of the rules.
@johnmirabella1329
@johnmirabella1329 Год назад
@Aorange have these positions, 5 forwards (1 center, 2 inners and 2 wings) , 3 midfielders, 2 defenders, and a goalie. Start each quarter and after a goal with a center bounce. I do like the idea of having a backwards pass.
@johnmirabella1329
@johnmirabella1329 Год назад
@Aorange also have it where you don’t have to bounce or solo the ball while ball. When the ball goes out of bounds on the sidelines, do like in Aussie Rules Football and gave a ref throw the ball back in the field

It seems that when it is held in Australia it is a pretty close game yet when it is ayes in Ireland it is one sided favouring the Irish Yet when Australia win we are accused of playing to rough My response to the Irish for that is go to your local hardware store get some concrete and harden the fuck up
@ruairiose7335
@ruairiose7335 2 года назад
I'd agree that we whinged a lot back in the day. The Aussies were much stronger physically and I think they liked to bully the Irish and assert their dominance. The Irish players nowadays are essentially professionals and I think they'd be much better able to compete with the Aussies physically. This series has actually lost interest since the violence was taken out of it. Most people watched it for the rows

Somme people like it...IMHO it's a disgrace. The rules and reffing are not sufficient to guard against malicious injury. I remember an aussi (and it's nearly always an aussi) suckered punched two guys in a row and was actually sent off (god forbid!) only for the rules to allow a sub on..makes no sense. One of the most skillful gaa guys ..colm Cooper was dragged along the ground for most of one test and he never went back. I remember one year the aussies realised you could throw a guy on the ground off the ball and hold him down indefinitely within the rules/reffing. Farcical shite of the highest order.
